Bowden gets contract extension.

Bobby Bowden and FSU agreed to a contract extension for one year and just under 2.5 million dollars according to: ESPN.com. In the quick article it states that TK Wetherell says Bowden can coach at FSU as long as he wants, which we all pretty much know. I was thinking maybe if Wetherell told Bowden he could coach at FSU as long as he is winning maybe we'd be in a different position than we are right now!

JScott: Here's what Coach Bowden had to say when asked whether FSU was going to name OC Jimbo Fisher his successor in order to keep Jimbo from thinking about leaving:

"No, I think that's speculation,'' Bowden told Steve Czaban of First Team on Fox. "I think that's booster talk or rumor talk. I don't know of anything like that that's in the works.'' Coach Bowden went on to say that he wouldn't want to name his eventual replacement "because I don't think it's good for the staff... I think something like that you have to put on the back burner.''

Who wouldnt want to put that on the back burner?? Hah ..... I think the writing is on the wall for Bobby. I feel this will be his last season and I think the program should Treat it as such. It's only fitting that he goes out, while Jimbo takes over with his players. Another (7-5) season would all but secure this scenario.....

Is it that simple though? Pushing out the greatest thing to ever happen to Florida State Athletics? We all know who the field is named after ....... I hope Weatherford and company can at least muster a (9-3) performance that will have Bowden going out successfully, rather than possibly being shown the door after a disappointing season and potentially severing any remaining good ties this University has with the Old Ball Coach.

9-3 is possible...
...especially if Weatherford is on the bench.

who do you see starting in that case?
D-Vo or Ponder?

Surely E.J. has ZERO Shot at starting next season

I lean towards...
...Ponder. The whole "Drew knows the playbook better" crutch is gone because Ponder probably knows the playbook better than Fisher. The kid will have his bachelor's degree next fall.

Plus Ponder has a lot more ability. Tons more ability.

I'm thinking it's his last year
He got such a monster raise (from $1.7M to $2.5M) that I feel like it may be some sort of unofficial "buyout" for Bowden.  Hopefully the school is trying to show it's loyalty to him by throwing a ton of money at him, as a nice farewell.
