Good news! We will have the Q&A with SectionSix. Until we can get that finished, however, here is a miniature Q&A with a fairly knowledgeable NC State fan. Also, I talked to an NC State player this week as well, so look for that in the coming 48 hours.
We run a 4-3 most of the time, with a nickel, 3-4, or 3-3-5 on obvious passing downs. Our coverages are varied. We play both man and zone, but seemingly with cover 2 behing both.
We play a hybrid OLB/SS (Leonard) at the SLB position and he generally stays on the field for 3WR sets. We stay in the 4-3 unless it is long yardage.
Offensively, we run a mixture of spread and I formations. Lots of QB read option plays and play action rollouts out of the shotgun. Mostly 3WR sets. 2 WRs with lots of speed and big play ability (Graham and Spencer). The other WRs are very tall but not burners(possesion receivers). Eugene and Brown both very consistant dangrous backs. O-Line has issues at times.
Here is some info on injured players. I'll have their status later on.
Nate Irving: .IMO the best LB in the ACC. Makes a huge impact against the run(lead the ACC in tackles until his injury) and pass(3 picks in first 3 games, then got injured). Pretty athletic and has great instincts and vision.
Alan-Michael Cash: Short but explosive DT. Makes plays behind the LOS. More likely to shoot the gap, or use agility to beat his blocker, than drive his blocker back. Top 2 DL we have, along with Willie Young.
Curtis Crouch: Very physically gifted player. Yet to live up to his potential. We need him if for nothing else than depth.
Anthony Hill: Devastating blocker, good size(6'6" 265). Still rusty in the passing game after missing all of last year and some of this year.
