Did you hear our defense is pretty badass

What’s up guys, been away for a while, was overseas, but watched the game on the intarwebs.

Noles still hanging in there—-it’s been a few years, but I finally see things working well with the boys.

FSUnscensored, thanks for running a superb blog, it’s been my go to spot for weekly analysis and when I need some specifics (e.g. the chair-throwing incident last week)

Business, legal-related.

Again, thanks for keeping this site up. Your traffic seems to be increasing (as it should).

1st half analysis...
  • Ponder has missed 2 throws, but has thrown some other nice balls.
  • 5 plays for D’Vo, excellent job of getting him involved and letting him use his cannon.
  • Jimbo is calling a heck of a game.
  • Mickey is calling an nice game. Excellent use of personnel. Bringing Brown back at DT is special. I like the mix of zone and man, and th press coverage with the 2- deep safeties.
  • We will have a huge running drive in the 2h. Their backers are not disciplined.

The D must've been reading Scout this morning

Some (MD?) troll posted about a dozen VERY offensive threads which I won’t repeat here.

by robrrt on Nov 22, 2008 9:27 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

That's no good.

We all know D’Vo has an issue but we are all very proud of him. I like that Jimbo is using him in ways that really emphasize his talent.

I like how Dvo is being used. also when the Off gives the D a brake the D is great but when they dont Our D get tired to fast.

First half thoughts

1) If I hadn’t been at a soccer tournament all day, my key pregame thought would have been this: We are playing TWO games tonight — the Maryland game and the Florida game. By that I mean, if we played another Wake/BC game tonight, it would mean zero chance of beating Florida. If we played a N.C. State-type game, it would mean a very low chance (5-10 percent) of beating UF. But if we played a great game, it would up that to 20-25 percent.
2) That half was somewhere between good and great.
3) Before you call me a “Debbie downer” look at the stats. We have only modestly outgained them in this game (10 FDs to 9; 154 total yards to 121). Don’t get me wrong, it was a very solid half and the rushing yards advantage is huge, but the big turnovers and their missed FGs skew the result a little.
4) Everett Brown is starting to stake his claim as one of the great D-lineman in FSU history — or at least he’s having one of the greatest seasons.
5) I’m a little surprised our successful running game hasn’t led to more big play in the passing game — teams ought to be committing more people to the run. Maybe they’re just stubbornly refusing to load up against the run. Not sure.
6) I’m frankly a little shocked that Myron Rolle wasn’t already dressed out – couldn’t he have done that on the plane? I remember Deion sprinting from the helicopter to the field when he was playing football and baseball — didn’t seem like much urgency there. Still — the whole thing is very cool.
7) How about the zip on D’vo’s out route to PP? Nice.
8) I think it’s VERY important we put together a second strong half — they can NOT get within one score in this game and I’d really like to see us march it down and go up 24 or 28-0 and really put the game away.
9) I thought the roughing the passer call was bogus.
10) I have nothing for No. 10, but felt like 9 was a lame place to stop a list.

No. 8 and 9

8 – yeah, I though it was only a penalty if it was helmet on helmet, he put the helmet in his chest … TS, deal with it QB
9 – you know this will get too close for comfort. We can’t throw dirt on anybody, they’ll probably have to turn it over 3 more times to make this a rout

Nice, ED.

How’d the tourney go?

If we can get pressure on UF with the front 4, we can hang with them for a bit.

3. DD, a bit— We are out gaining them by 1.1 yards per play. Noted, though.

4. Brown is the best we’ve ever had, IMO. I’m working on a Brown related piece. Such a different game now, and he beats new protections and techniques.

5. Teams are stubborn to sneak up. They see our size and think they can stop it with 7. Agree it is weird.

Good thought, as always. Can I add one?

We are doing such a good job of bumping their backs as they come out of the backfield— specifically on play action rollouts.

Great point

… on the “reverse chipping” of their backs — also the TEs.

Brown best ever? Well …. remind me to tell you about Ron Simmson some day. Still, he’s great.

Won one tied one in soccer — got to wake up at 5:45 am for tomorrow’s action. Sigh.

I think they are going to run the zone read and option

we are going to make them have to stop us like BC did with us. we are up to much to force down feild and lose mogo.

Oklahoma

is beating the s—- out of Tech. Hopefully they win big and jump to #2. Just as I type this, Tech scores.

Big advantage to us next week if ....

….. Gates think they need to win with style points. That puts a TON of pressure on a team. If we can keep it close, they might start to panic.

by Fsued on Nov 22, 2008 9:36 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

so Fsued you think it a 5% or 20-25% with UF

by Desman on Nov 22, 2008 9:39 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

wow the warchant almost sound louder there than at FSU the first 3 games

What a surprise...

I get a free minute and work and see we’re up 21-0 and we’re in the red zone again. I look forward to reading the comments tomorrow and watching the game in the AM.

Enjoy everyone!

Go NOLES!

time to run the clock down If we get in great keep the ball ing the mid of the feild and get the eazy points. We need to run as much time off the clock as we can

Excellent Offensive Effeciency...

at least by my watch and what I can get on Game Cast.

FSU is scoring 0.49 Pionts per play and have held on to the ball for 28:30…this is excellent and compatible with their previous wins.

Maryland is only scoring a brutal 0.06 points per play and has had the ball for no time…

Excellent balance on both sides of the ball…can’t wait to watch the game tomorrow
