Auburn hires Chizik
Auburn has hired Gene Chizik (he of the 10 game losing streak, 0-8 Big XII record this season) from Iowa State to coach their football team. Chizik was the DC at Auburn from 2002-2004, and was the head coach at ISU from 2006-2007, when he had a 5-19 record.
Trackemtiger.com (The Auburn SBnation blog) is all over this story...
This means Jimbo is out of the running, and is far more likely to stick around.
Go Noles!
Edit: That 0-8 Big XIII record? ISU didn't play Oklahoma, Texas or Texas Tech this season.

I think this a terrible hire and great news for the Noles.
Nobody is excited about Gene Chizik, he’s not some ace recruiter, and that is good for us.
I agree
He did good things as a DC, but now that he’s buying the groceries as well as cooking the dinner, I don’t think he’ll be able to succeed at Auburn, especially with Bama, Georgia, Tennessee and UF/FSU all competing for kids in that area.

I've followed college football since I was 11 ('87)...
…and what’s happening at Auburn is the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen. It’s beyond comprehension at this point.
This doesn't mean Jimbo is NO LONGER in the running...
This confirms what we seminole fans should already know. He was never in “the running”.
THEY put him on the list, but he was never going to seriously consider that job.
The fact that they highered a candidate this far down the coaching ladder is proof that it’s just not that great a job.
PS Jimbo fisher will be the next head coach at FSU….say it until it sinks in!
Yeah, right!
If they had offered to pay his buyout and pay him what Chizik got, he was GONE
No way he sticks around FSU for 2 more years waiting for Bobby when he can be a head coach in the SEC at 4X the pay and full control.
