Lee Does It for the Money...

...Xavier Lee left FSU because he didn't want to play tight end.

Xavier Lee signs a free agent contract  with the Baltimore Ravens to play...tight end.

"Xavier has a chance to be a quarterback, but you look at that body, he can play a lot of things," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said of Lee. "We just want to look at him and see what we've got. Plus we need help at tight end."

Not surprising in the end and FSU fans shouldn't feel so stiffed. For one thing, he didn't want to be here. For another thing he didn't trust the coaches and for good reason the coaches didn't trust him. For a third thing, FSU isn't known as a place that develops tight ends. So even if he played tight end here, he would have probably been in the same place a year later.

I wish the kid luck and I wish he could've have done more during his time in Tallahassee.

I agree. He probably would be in the same position a year from know anyway. It was clear that C. Ponder was going to be the #2 QB and Lee would not have been able to make that much of an impact at Tight End in one season. He made the best choice he could have made. Seems like the Ravens are interested in giving him a real chance to make the team.

I never liked this guy

I cant say why but for some reason I never liked him. Im not a big fan of weatherford ether. I still think the kid should have stuck around and got his dagree first but what do I know. Thats why Im only making 46k a year and hes going to at least make 3x as much. Good luck to him. I just dont know whats going on with the QB at FSU these days. I hope Jimbo can fix whatevers going on down there.

Something wrong here

X Lee. What gives? Either he was developed poorly or he was just never cut out to be a college quarterback.

Or both.

He must have supreme athleticism for a team to give him a shot at a position he’s never played, after riding the pine for a few years (when not completing passes to the other team.)

A little of both...

....He definitely wasn’t developed well but the last season was on him. He was given an opportunity in the Alabama game and did what FSU fans hoped he’d do but he failed to follow up on it.

Geno Hayes

I know this is off topic, but I don’t have enough to say to make it a diary. It used to be that a guy left FSU early because he knew he was a top 10 pick, now it seems like guys bolt just to get drafted. Without knowing anything about Geno or his family situation, I have to wonder if it was really worth it to leave early to be a 6th round pick?

There were some...

...issues there with Geno and some of the other coaches. Basically it was a mutual decision that his best course of action was to move on.
