Basketball Recruiting: Derrick Favors
Football recruiting is certainly a hot topic...but I wanted to introduce you to an exceptional player who is considering playing at FSU. Currently, he seems to be deciding between Georgia and Georgia Tech, but Leonard Hamilton has a nack for recruiting players out of Georgia. One recent example....Chris Singleton.
Favors is a 6'9 220lbs Center/Power Forward. He is listed as Rivals #1 center and is listed number 4 overall. On ESPN.com, he is listed number two overall.
Here are a couple of his highlite tapes:

Imagine the addition of Favors to Michael Snaer, Chris Singelton, Solomon Alabi, Jordan Demercy...this would be an absolutely monster line up.
Dear Leonard Hamilton and Chris Singleton,
Please find Derrick Favors and let him know that this Noles will be a force to be reckoned with the in the ACC for the next 5 years. Make him an offer. Do not let him go to GTech or UGA.
Sincerely,
TrueCubbie and the rest of the fans at Tomahawk Nation.
Unfortunately, I don't think we get him. Fingers crossed...
(FYI: Rivals does not have him listed as being interested, other sites do, take it for its worth....however 5 star recruit Latavious Williams is listed as being interested in FSU, but he'll likely end up at Baylor, his home school)

I don't know how Leonard gets these kids
FSU recruiting in all the 3 major sports is kind of befuddling.
We overachieve in football and basketball, getting talent that should land us in the top 5 or top 10 in the nation.
Then in baseball we do a somewhat poor job, taking lots of local kids and not making much of an effort to recruit guys out of the region. Yet our baseball team is right up there with the best in the nation.

In regards to Favors
That would be amazing if we could get him. He’d obviously start from day one, but I imagine he’d start from day 1 wherever he goes.

It feels foreign for me to talk about basketball recruiting.
Isn’t it shady?
I’ll try to get more engrossed in basketball as the year goes on.

Shady meaning dirty?
I don’t think it’s any worse than football recruiting.

This guy is a total beast.
I have to say i know basically nothing about basketball recruiting.
I assume he’d play power forward here?
Looks like a skinny
and a little shorter Dwight Howard. He dominates the paint (though it is against H.S size). To play in the NBA he will need to put some meat on.
Dwight Howard was very very skinny coming out of HS
Never drinking, smoking, and an unrivaled commitment to improving his body resulted in the Superman we all know and love
Absolute Beast But
I have also heard that he isn’t looking this way right now. Hopefully that can change.
Sure would be doing us a .... favor... by signing.. hahahaha, no...
