Miami Hurricanes clear schedule to make room for Labor Day Night game at Florida State

Yesterday, Miami's schedule looked like this:

Sep. 5 Florida A&M
Sep. 12 Oklahoma
Oct. 3 at UCF
Nov. 28 at South Florida
TBA Clemson
TBA Virginia
TBA Georgia Tech
TBA Duke
TBA at Wake Forest
TBA at Florida State
TBA at North Carolina
TBA at Virginia Tech

While Florida State's schedule looked like this:

Sep. 5   Maine
Sep. 19 at Brigham Young
Sep. 26 South Florida
Nov. 28 at Florida.
And eight other conference games include: Maryland, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, Miami, at Clemson, at Wake Forest, at Boston College, and at North Carolina.

Today, Miami changed their schedule, to look like this:

Sep. 7 (Monday) OPEN DATE
Oct. 3 Oklahoma
Oct. 10 Florida A&M
Oct. 17 at UCF
Nov. 28 at South Florida
8 conference games, consisting of Clemson, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Duke, at Wake Forest, at Florida State, at North Carolina, and at Virginia Tech.

ESPN wants this game to happen in the worst way, as FSU still draws huge ratings.  FSU's bowl game romp against Wisconsin drew ESPN's 2nd highest bowl game ratings; ever.  It's been no secret that the ACC is threatening to make life miserable for both programs if they don't agree to play each other on Labor Day night (September 7th).  This is especially important because there is a very real chance that the conference could get embarrassed when Alabama meats Virginia Tech in the Georgia Dome in early September.  The ACC needs either FSU or the 'Canes to be good.

FSU still has this little issue of "Maine" to take care of.  Maine is one of the smaller states in America.  So small in fact, that Tomahawk Nation hasn't had a reader log in from its borders today.  FSU will have to pay a penalty to break the Maine game-- a penalty that they will end up paying to avoid the wrath of the ACC.

I believe it is a lock that FSU will square off against Miami on Labor Day.
