Bowden Signs new 1-yr Deal
Jamey Givens and Scott Carter at NoleInsider scooped this one, beating the Democrat, rivals, and yes, even us. I tip my cap to them. Bowden realized that he had no leverage in this process, swallowed his pride and accepted a one year deal for roughly the same terms of last year.

What did Bobby want?
Did he want the same money but just for 3 years?
Why was he all of a sudden wanting 3 years?
I think this was just another way of trying to get more money out of FSU.
I think he is delusional.
He doesn’t always appear to know what is going on during his interviews.

*sigh*
I wonder if it makes me a bad person that I just wanted him to retire….
PLEASE SAY THIS IS IT BOBBY!!!! That way, we can give you a lovely fair thee well…
I don't believe TK will be there next negotiating season.

People say he has Cancer
And that he will need to fight it on a full time basis.

That stinks.
Would a replacement at this time be a good thing for those who wan’t Bobby gone or do you think it really won’t make a difference?
"I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one gets to the Father but through me"
I think it would be impossible to find a president who would
be so inappropriately involved with football and have such a conflict of interest that TK has with Bowden (played for Bowden).
A new guy helps the cause.

TK did not play for Bowden
He went to FSU in the mid 60s.

That might shed some light as to why (if) Bobby wanted 3 extra years.

Last gasp effort to avoid what is obvious to everyone else.

I was watching The Two Towers yesterday
and, in the movie sort of at the beginning, where the king is possessed by sauromon (I didn’t take the time to figure out how to spell it), when he was sitting on his thrown looking terrible and was very out of it , kind of reminded me of this situation with Bobby… and I looked at my wife and said that, and she looked back at me with huge eyes and astonishment.

hah throne.... sorry fot so many small posts.
"I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one gets to the Father but through me"
Meaning he doesn't have the wink wink, one year extention.

Next up: Announce the 2009 Bobby Bowden farewell tour
That would be nice.
This dysfunctional coaching hierarchy is not helping us reach our goals.
What's the longest Bobby can stay before Jimbo gets 4.5 mil or whatever it is?
After the 2010 season?

Champs Bowl Luncheon
I went to the Champs Bowl Luncheon in Orlando the day before the game, and the ESPN crew of Nessler, Greise and McGwire were all there speaking. All three of them praised Bobby and said that he should never retire. They boosted his ego big-time.
I think Bobby truly takes that to heart. I think he looks at a win over a below-average Wisconsin team and truly believes it’s a sign that the program is back. He looks at JoPa’s three year extension and thinks that he deserves the same treatment. He rationalizes losing to UF five years in a row by saying “they’re just a dadgum good team. Look at the other teams that have lost to them.” I believe he really thinks that we are “a player or two” away. It’s like Bowden is Walter Mitty.

The drums were pounding away...
…tapocketapocketapocketa…
…and there he was on the sidelines and it was 1993 again…
Normally I stay out of the Bowden speculation. Who knows what he’s thinking? But ‘Walter Mitty’… Couldn’t help myself.
Well played and rec'd
for those who don’t know, Walter Mitty:

I also think the national media
is too ‘objective’ and ‘removed’ from the program to see some of the real problems. Most national media folks look at the record and judge Bowden instead of the talent vs the record, which indicates a much BIGGER problem.
Plus, Bowden may be one of the best coaches ever at charming the media. He’s the “sweet old guy”……….
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Well
This isn’t the great news I wanted to read, starting off my day, but on the bright side I guess its a win for the program stiff-arming the 3 year deal.
I am trying to be a “glass half full” person on this one…

Keeping up with the Joe'ses
Is it any wonder that Bobby’s year to year deal suddenly became a bone of contention after PSU gave Joe a 3 year extension?
Bobby’s hell bent on beating Joe.
My guess is the in knuckling under he found out they are vacating wins in the NCAA sanctions and 3 years is just not enough time.

Not quite finalized...
according to Andrew Carter.
I am very excited to read that Spetman said Trickett’s contract is a priority, and that he has been in contact with Trickett’s people.
