Mickey Andrews deserves a farewell chant!
November, 21st, 2009. That will likely be Mickey Andrews’ last game as the FSU Defensive Coordinator. I feel it would only be appropriate that a “Mickey Andrews” chant should echo through Doak Campbell Stadium during the final home game this year against the Maryland Terrapins. If anyone else is interested, I would love to sit in the same general area as others for the final home game, with the sole intention of starting a “Mickey Andrews” chant towards the end of the game.
Obviously everyone is hung up about the Bobby Bowden situation right now. But regardless of whether you think he should stay or go, there is no question that Mickey should be sent off on a high note. The man could have left to be a head coach at many other schools during the 20+ years he spent here. Instead he stayed loyal to FSU, and is largely responsible for the unprecedented success FSU had throughout the 80’s and 90’s.
I don’t know if the best way to insure this chant takes place is to start a facebook group, gather a few people from Tomahak Nation, or simply start it myself and hope others join in. But I do feel this gesture towards Mickey is unquestionably warranted. Years from now, when Bobby is no longer around the program, people will reminisce about how Bowden turned the program into a powerhouse. Many casual fans will forget that Mickey Andrews’ role was tremendous in our success. For these reasons, let’s show the man that we do appreciate all he’s done for us as fans!

damn
okay I obviously f’ed up the formatting. But you get the point…
Agreed
I think he was more responsible for FSU’s dynasty years than any other single individual.
It would be great if we could get a chant going. Maybe get a clip on espn…

I agree, I still respect Mickey
Should be easy to spread the word among the 40,000 that will be there

Yeah I like Mickey
How about something along the lines of “Mickey thanks for saving us from Chucky.”

After tonight’s defensive performance I think it would be appropriate to remove this post. Mickey has done a great job at ruining his legacy. He should’ve left once the game started passing him by. I’ll only cheer if he’s bringing the rest of the pathetic defensive coaches we have along with him into retirement.
LOL
Mickey wanted to retire. Bobby brought him back.
WRONG
MICKEY WANTED TO RETIRE BUT JIMBO BEGGED HIM TO STAY SO CHUCKY DIDNT GET A CONTRACT
If you build it, they will come.
MORE FOOTBALL INFORMATION, NOW!!!!!! BRAIN IS HUNGRY!!!!!

The first year, Bobby begged mickey to come back.
After last year, Jimbo did.
So both are right.

I will always feel good about Mickey
He knew when it was time to get out and was pulled back in by the matrix!

Props to Mickey
He’s been the DC at FSU for my entire life. Players come and players go, but the defense was always excellent (except for this year), and Mickey was the constant. He deserves a grand sendoff.

Love this idea. Seriously. This guy deserves our gratitude for contributing so much for so many years.
As this year is showing us, DEFENSE is what will make or break you. Many, if not most of our wins throughout the lost decade were because of the stout defenses that MA fielded year in and year out.
Great idea
I hate people who only remember recent history and claim MA was only good because he had stud players. I thought you had to get good first to get the stud players then get even better.
