Florida State DT Budd Thacker out with a knee injury according to his mother, Jill
This is too funny. FSU's total dysfunction has reached new levels never before imaginable. We now have players mothers making injury updates, determining the amount of time the player will be out, and whether or not they will travel with the team while injured.
From AC's Chopping Block:
"Florida State senior defensive tackle Budd Thacker has suffered a grade three MCL sprain in his left knee and will be out for at least two games, according to his mother, Jill.
Thacker suffered the injury during practice on Sunday and he underwent an MRI on Monday that revealed the severe sprain.
He will travel with the team to North Carolina on Thursday night, Jill Thacker said, but will not play then or against N.C. State on Oct. 31."

Dude, this is Florida State
You expect our coaches to be in front of this situation (at least the defensive staff)?

Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
Mangum has a season ending injury
Mangum has continuously received broken ankles in the past several games and has been official put on IR.

well I will pray for him but at the same time this is a good thing for the Def.

It was a joke….“broken ankles” typically refers to someone getting juked so bad they fall down.
If he’s on the IR, it’s for something else….
Did we post it before they did? That also would be too funny.

She once commented that the pain of reading negative Warchant posts was more severe than the physical pain of multiple shoulder surgeries and consequent rehabs.
I wish I was making that up.

Well, reading warchant posts is often painful, I'll give her that
But so is watching him play DT.

I thought you could not bring any negativity to WC, or are the players OK to hammer but St. Bowden the only one off limits?
That is a serious question since I have never been a member or read the comments.
>-----:----:------>Spear 'em then Scalp 'em
I've seen player slamming posts there before
I actually saw that MattD made a cameo appearance there yesterday. The thread he was in was promptly deleted.

I think I will set up a temporary acount just to see if I like it there more than I do here and to get more objective and in depth analysis. Also I'm tired of MattD spamming me every month for his $9.99.

I have contemplated it many times
But I know that if I were to, it would be the shortest lived membership in the history of the site.

I'm curious how this affects the Mincey situation
Given http://nolesports.tallahassee.com/article/20091019/FSU03/910190317
Does he give up his remaining eligilbility (and perhaps NFL aspirations) to help out a “lost cause” or does he hope to blow it up next year. Or does he even get a choice?
God I hope he redshirts
The new DC is going to need him next year. Having a healthy Mincey, McCray, McDaniel, McCloud, McCallister (basically all 4 Macs haha), and maybe Deas will be huge for next year’s DL. Hopefully the new DC won’t be afraid of playing McCallister at DE either though…
I speculated on this at the beginning of the season
There are some players who have played defensive tackle before, Ganguzza, Faircloth and I think Brandon Davis. Some of them may get some playing time there yet before the season is over the way injuries are mounting.
Playstation All American, right again! AKA The Vulture per Bobby Bowden

Better to bear the rebuke of the wise than to hear the song of fools
If only someone could of seen that FSU was thin at the DL spot....
prior to last signing day.
I mean we only had an army of play station all americans screaming FSU doesn’t have depth on the defensive front 7.
But our multi million dollar coaches are asleep at the wheel and Jimbo is trying to do the job of 4-5 coaches right now because of it.
If Mincey’s redshirt is blown…it is pathetic IMHO. just another desperate move by Bobby thinking of himself first.
FSU needs to sign as many JUCOs as possible this year (on the defense)
Well I hope Budd gets better I hate when players get hurt even if they are players that shouldnt be playing
If budd could ahve gooten some speed this off season he might have been OK to put out at DE on run downs. Im OK with 4 DT on the line like that. Its not like it could hurt anymore than what we have now.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
I think this injury has dealt a blow to his being a first day NFL pick. He has probably dropped down to the later rounds now.

Speaking of draft value...
The Pouncey twins wish Bud a very speedy recovery.

Come on, guys
Aren’t going too far with this? Budd plays hard, has never been a problem kid, and he wears the GnG. Ok, so he’s no Broderick Bunkley. We should be MUCH more concerned that we have a defensive staff whose lapse in recruiting forces has left us with a lack of talent and depth. Same with Mangum.
Don’t hate the playas; hate inept college coaching.

great point
i too am guilty of hating the playa- not the game, but i’ll work on it…
I have never, nor will I ever, bash a FSU player because he is not very good. The coaches should replace them if there is someone better and if not, as long as they play hard what can you do. I agree with you ricobert.
I just found it too good to pass up that the players mother was making the injury report, how long he would be out, and that he will be traveling to the game. Later on though it was learned that AC is the one that called Budd’s mommy and got the scoop. Still though, usually the Coaches or athletic dept are the one’s that announce the injury reports and updates and she should have deferred to the coaches, although Mom’s will always protect their young ’uns.

As per a coach
http://www.tallahassee.com/article/20091022/FSU03/910220331&referrer=FRONTPAGECAROUSEL
Bowden said during the ACC teleconference that defensive lineman Budd Thacker will probably miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
