Thoughts from the UNC game.
Just got back from the UNC game last night. What a blast. As an avid Seminoles fan stuck in eastern Carolina I always try to make it to the games played in state, and since this was UNC's first Thursday night game I couldn't pass on the oppurtunity to make it over to Chapel Hill. Here's a few quick thoughts.
First off Kenan stadium looks much better in person than on T.V. Though it could use another screen since the visitor's have to break their neck to see anything.
Second, the UNC fans were jumping. I haven't seen UNC fans that pumped outside of basketball season. The crowd was hot all night and stayed pretty much till the end.
There was a pretty good showing of FSU fans with the visitor's section pretty full by halftime.
There were only maybe 20 black shirts/jersey's among the crowd. It was very pro-Bobby with a loud Bobby chant going up when he walked off the field after the game. Oh, by the way there were about a hundred FSU fans lined up by the hedge once the game ended and they treated BB like a rock star. He even threw his hat into the crowd and they about fell all over themselves to grab it.
CP7 is the man, and got a decent Ponder chant for his efforts while heading to the locker room as well. A few of the players were shaking hands with the fans after the game as well (mostly defensive players).
Overall, it was a great atmosphere, and it's always nice to make the drive and get a "W".

Ponder is a BEAST
and Markus White needs to go live with KOREY MANGUM. Guy lost containment probably 10 times and almost single-handedly lost the game for us.

was there as well...
It was nice being in attendance and it being people ROOTING for FSU and not bitching about Bobby. That first half was atrocious, and I heard it from the Tarhicks around me… but this team showed heart. They showed that they won’t QUIT, just like they did against BC. I was proud to be a SEMINOLE last night and dreaded reading the posts today. YES… the defense is weak, but they rose when needed and WE WON. I am curious how many read the Bob Davie piece the other day? alot of truth to that. We should wish for the team to finish this season as positive as possible… and whatever happens with Bobby let it be as positive as it can. In the years to come, when the dust has settled, it will make us all a little PROUDER to be a Seminole if things can be handled with class.
This is what gets me
Do you honestly believe we can succeed without change occurring? If yes, you’re crazy. If no, why should we not point it out and attempt to bring it about?
>>---l>
Not sure it was the defense rising to the occassion at times or the inept UNC
offense falling on itself.
But, it was encouraging to “force” a couple punts last evening.
I think it was more of the inept UNC coaching staff -
they were killing us running the ball and of course our ‘adjustment’ was to ‘play harder’ –
them punting was among the dumbest coaching decisions Ive ever seen..
We're just callin' 'em as we see 'em.
Hypothetical:
Imagine if we played an ACC opponent that featured a Top 5 offense to go along with a bottom-of-the-barrel defense.
Suppose we held their potent offense to only 14 points, but snuck out a win with our offense only scoring 16 on a crap D.
We’d say, “Yes, the team won the game, but thank God the defense bailed out the offense this time”.
Put away the violin.
yea...
I almost wanted us to lose a close game.
Part of me wanted the offense to keep it close but lose, just to keep the pressure on BB.
It’s not blasphemy. We need change.
You guys
are just dicks. Why did you become a FSU fan in the first place? Because Bobby Bowden made them a powerhouse. And now you want FSU to lose just so this man gets kicked out. Your pathetic.
You're pathetic
not “Your”, “You’re”.
It’s a contraction of “you” and “are”, where the space and ‘a’ are replaced with the apostrophe.

Waaaayyyy off the mark.
When I became an FSU fan, we were most definitely not a powerhouse.
And I didn’t become a fan of FSU football because of Bowden. I became a fan because I was a student and FSU was my school.
As long as I thought Bowden was acting in the best interests of my school, I supported and admired him.
When it became apparent that he was acting in his own best interests to surround himself with incompetent friends and family, I stopped.
Certain “Nole fans”, on the other hand, appear to be fans of Bowden more than FSU. They’ll be following UAB or UNA soon.

I appreciate your thoughts
I became an FSU fan because my grandparents are alumni. Nice try, though.
Just because a parent raises a child doesn’t give them the right to poison them later in life.

+1
can we stop arguing with these bozos? i like the Booooooo response, i think i will employ that more often

I became a fan because my dad is an Alumni and I'm a student
Bobby Bowden is an employee, hired to do a job. Once he’s gone, FSU football will remain.
I wanted to root for a loss
since I know now everyone is saying “OOOH LOOK BOBBY HAS STILL GOT IT”
That said, I just cant root against us. Its not in me. If we would have lost, it would not have stung, but damn if I dont love the feeling of a win.
Miaminole this is exactly how I feel
Sadly im numb to the pain of losses this season. But I can’t help but be happy when we win, I also want Ponder and the rest of our offense’s effort to pay off. They’ve been playing lights out.
The fact is if 70% of our fans and media werent
Complete morons, we wouldnt have to hope for a good offensive performance and a loss.
We need Jimbo to take over or we can kiss this progress GOODBYE.
answer me this: WTF HAS BB DONE TO MAKE US WIN? SERIOUSLY? WHAT? NO SERIOUSLY?

He did just that
but that doesn’t now give him the right to turn it back into a dirt road just to feed his ego..
Damn... the morning/afternoon after can be brutal
And this is with a win. I am not going to do the back and forth bickering, it’s just not worth it. FSU 30 UNC 27. We are 3-4 and that beats the hell out of 2-5. I go to enough of the away games to know that FSU coming to town is a big deal. These cities and towns think of pre 2005 FSU and Bobby Bowden. We get the A-game because of the years of running roughshod over the ACC. The staff and each wave of players got complacent. Blame is there, ok. BUT… the majority of fans at these games are not pouring over the internet and all the stats that can be found there. The Michigan’s and Notre Dame’s and Nebraska’s and so on and so forth all fell into the same trap. Other than against Florida, we have represented the ACC pretty darn well when playing out of conference, and how many years can we go back for that? I am really just at a loss to read some of these comments. Bobby Bowden/FSU are one to most of the country. People were bitching cause the NC State game is a noon start on syndication, saying that is proof we are becoming irrelevant, well… take BB out of the mix and we are looking at 8 or 9 noon starts or 6pm on ESPNU. He will leave soon enough… he will retire. Why is there bitching and moaning the day after a win, and a win that in the middle of the 3rd qtr was very improbable. BB’s offensive coaches led them to victory!!!
Well thought out and expressed!
UGH! I guess my personal interpretation was worthy of only 3 letters and an exclamation point! Glad it wasn’t 4 letters, but I guess this family friendly forum would frown upon that. I think I enjoy questioning some of this crap I read. The main people here, like FSUncensored, have opinions I do not subscribe to, but I cannot dispute their passion and research… I wish I had the time and resources myself. But the second and third tier of glad-handers and self-congratulating goons who critique EVERYTHING that is said is really interesting. I am glad I get a response, truly… I enjoy the effort it takes to put thoughts to screen to posting on this forum to me reading them and digesting the brilliance that is shared. UGH! INDEED, when you say UGH! you said it all.
So you pick the shortest one to respond to?
Look around. There are plenty of counter-arguments to your points that you choose to ignore.
>>---l>
I thought anything more than an UGH would be a waste of breath
You acknowledge the problem but fail to see that it needs to be rectified in the appropriate manner.
I am not sure what research you could do to dispute what is being preached here, it is very black and white, numbers and records do not lie.
We are 3-4 and that beats the hell out of 2-5.
Are you serious? Your acceptance of poor performance is unbelievable and fans like yourself are a large component to this ending ugly.
CP7, Please do not go Pro
If the shoe fits.......
But the second and third tier of glad-handers and self-congratulating goons who critique EVERYTHING that is said is really interesting.
>-----:----:------>Spear 'em then Scalp 'em
...because problems still exist
And we won’t be a good team until these problems are fixed. What about this don’t you and your complacent friends you speak of get?
>>---l>
You have to admire their passion. Even though its blind.
Passion for the Bowden.
actually, Everette Winters gave you guys the game.
it’s nothing your coaches did. it was our prevent D.

right, and the only reason you guys were winning is because the refs were cheating.......

Ponder lighting up your so called great defense, like it hasn't been lit up in years (400 Yards), I think also played a small factor. I imagine he would have gotten 600 if not for your "prevent defense."
www.fireButchDavis.com is just starting to gain momentum right about now, sign up quick. Butch will be the 2nd Florida transplanted coach who will be run out of N.C. on a rail. At least Butch doesn’t make his coaches wear baby blue shoes.
Maybe Jimbo will offer Butch a defensive coordinator position at FSU once he is fired at the end of the season.
Just curious, did your tears mixed with the blue paint from your face irritate your eyes much?
>-----:----:------>Spear 'em then Scalp 'em
Goos Luck against the Dukies...
You are going to need it and then some.
We’ll also enjoy a win over the baby blue in b-ball this season.
How can anyone with sound logic defend this position?
I’m sorry wolffbird but if you don’t recognize how troublesome Bowden has been to this football program you simply aren’t paying attention. Who’s the offensive coordinator? Oh yeah Jimbo Fisher, the guy that’s going to be taking over. Forgive us if we won’t that type of performance on BOTH sides of the ball. What you fail to realize is that UNC’s offense is one of the worst in the ACC. Yet they ran ALL OVER US. Analyzing a game objectively and “bitching” as you put it . . . are two entirely different things. In any game, Win lose or draw there are good things and bad things that will transpire. All of them are subject to honest discussion. That is what we do at Tomahawknation.com.
UGH PERIOD!
BB’s offensive coaches led them to victory!!!

I was walking out of Kenan Stadium and past a Wine & Cheese "tailgate" where a douchey looking 40-something Tar Heel overdressed (including a vest), was pontificating to random Nole fans walking past
I’m not sure what began his brief rant (perhaps a black shirt), but he was shouting, “You guys should hang on to Bowden. If it wasn’t for him, you guys would have nothing. He put FSU on the map!”.
The little pack of Noles were just listening to his asinine talking point as they breezed past, but I didn’t. I yelled something along on the lines of, “Shut the hell up, you idiot. Stop saying stupid things that you know nothing about”.
No rebuttal. Just back to the wine & cheese and likely eventually ESPN for more talking points.
I haven’t seen a re-broadcast of the game, but were they saying that Ponder should declare early? A friend mentioned that. So according to ESPN, they want 2010 Florida State to feature Bowden as the coach and no Christian Ponder.
DarkHorse99,
Bobby throws his hat into the crowd after every game, home or away. It wasn’t like he was a rock star spontaneously responding to a raucous audience.
He pre-signs the underside of the hat bill with a Sharpie each time as well.
wine and cheese?
i guess it’s better than handcuffs and crack that Tallahassee is known for.
or is it stolen shoes and hos? i forget.

Whose sideline was LT making a jackass of himself on?
I thought so.

That's funny coming from the state that has more meth lab trailers per capita than even Arkansas.
Also, at least our ho’s have all their teeth, even though I will be the first to admit that a N.C. gum job every now and then is a good change of pace.
N.C., where in every trailer park you will find nothing but ho’s that will go down on you and gum you off for a rock.
>-----:----:------>Spear 'em then Scalp 'em
no need to lump all of nc in with one inbred
just like you wouldnt want to be associated with every gaytor redneck who runs off at the mouth
You're absolutely right, I allowed myself to be dragged into the gutter by the Tardheel when he insulted Tallahassee, which is something I don't normally do and I usually could care less what a troll thinks.
Must have been a snap and bad gut reaction since I have so many good memories from Tally.
As a matter of fact, I have a place between Hendersonville and Flat Rock and I try to get up there at least twice a year, especially in the fall to see to leaves, and to get the hell out of Florida.
So my apologies to the teeth bearing, non-meth producing residents, non-gumming ho’s, of the fine state which was “First in Flight.”
However, I don’t understand why anyone would associate me with every gaytor redneck who runs off at the mouth. That is illogical and does not make sense, except maybe the running off at the mouth part.
>-----:----:------>Spear 'em then Scalp 'em
Good stuff - thanks for take the mature route
lumping you in w/ redneck gaytors would be unfair and illogical – which was exactly my point..
We clearly have our share of mouthy inbred meth addicts here in NC – more than our share
but hopefully they don’t represent the rest of us..
Hey there Frank
I live in NC now…..and that comment isn’t cool man.
Hey, look everybody! It's the guy in the powder blue Brooks Brothers button-down and navy vest that I yelled at!
Your rebuttal is late, but welcomed, Mr. Vest Guy.
If you’re gonna bring up crack cocaine, don’t forget about that legend on the Carolina sideline who’s lived half his life with bedsheets covering the windows. Oopsie!!!

K-Man..
I was trying to point out the crowd’s reaction to the hat-throwing more than the act itself. Thanks for the info though I didn’t know he did that every time.
i agree that there was a more frenzied response for Bowden than normal.
I was yelling for Jimbo, though. I’m Pro-Board of Trustees ;)

Buddy, leave if all your going to do is make insults against our team. Pout somewhere else.
"I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing, With a broken heart thats still beating, In the pain is the healing, in Your Name I find meaning, So I'm holdin' on.. holdin' on to you."
I guess this guy never heard of the 1st amendment
Actually I dont see insults against our team on this site; just well-founded criticism of our soon to be ex head coach.

Yea LT is the Tarheal crack head poster boy
How great it was to see FSU’s offensive juggernaut quiet that big fat coke head up in the 4th quarter. He was all animated and jumping up and down when UNC was leading but looked as though he was crashing after one of his crack binges after FSU took the lead for good.
Hatred for Bowden
is ageism……plain and simple. :)
"its because of my age" the old man said on national T.V.
"I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing, With a broken heart thats still beating, In the pain is the healing, in Your Name I find meaning, So I'm holdin' on.. holdin' on to you."
you're right
I couldn’t root for the loss. Matter of fact, I was sooo pumped that we came from so far down.
BUT, I hate hearing “I guess Bowden’s critics can quiet down a little.”
Should be the idiot fans who are criticizing Jimbo that quiet down.
don't forget about Julius Peppers!
while he has no known “cracky” tendencies, it was nice to see him pouting on the sidelines after the game. it would be nice to see deion down in tally once to pout before he gets on everyone for criticizing BB, that goes for Darnell, too!

Different views on FSU & message boards in general
saw the post on twitter, so I am not sure what publication it was in, but there was an interesting article on the various message boards related to college football and how different/similar they are. Our beloved site was mentioned more than once. The author was Ted Sheckler. I guess a google search would bring it up. Interesting guy with a unique take on what drives this stuff.
