The Golden Goose is dead. As first reported on our twitter page, the over/under for NC State/ FSU opened at 64. Vegas is now catching on to just how bad Florida State's defense is (worse than 103 other defenses, including Utah State).

Damn, I should have known it wouldn't last

betting the over on FSU games has practically been guaranteed free money this year

I'd take that

Maybe 42-38

2009 Rays Baseball: Welp.....we'll try again in 2010
2009 FSU Football: Bobby Bowden.........it's time to go
Christian Ponder has superpowers

Honest question: Do our guys (on D) have any damned pride? It’s not like they are chopped liver, well not ALL of them, but my God are they terrible. And it’s the same thing over and over and over and over…… DE crashing, LB whiffing, and DB’s watching guys run right by them all game long. Every weekend it’s the same crap.

This isn't anything new

You can see the de-evolution of our defensive dominance as the talent disparity between us and our opponents has evened.

by ricobert1 on Oct 28, 2009 8:51 PM EDT up reply actions

They simply don't know better

Unless they had excellent coaching in high school, they probably just relied on their athleticism all the time.

by Bud Elliott on Oct 28, 2009 10:19 PM EDT up reply actions

i believe and hope their athleticism really shows up Saturday. I predict we give up no touchdowns

by Panamakid507 on Oct 29, 2009 2:12 AM EDT up reply actions

isnt that what FSU def was all about in the 90s

beat you with bigger, faster stronger players. better raw talent on the field at all times.

No way Ncstate will score over 20

I have a very good feeling about our defense this week. The difference??? our surprising performance by our defensive line.

fsu 38-3

by Panamakid507 on Oct 29, 2009 2:11 AM EDT reply actions

ummmm

Yes, I’m very serious.. maybe 6… two field goals. I’m very confident with my prediction. Establishing the running game is a MUST!

by Panamakid507 on Oct 29, 2009 2:23 AM EDT up reply actions

lol...

Looking forward to not seeing you around after NC State puts up 30 on us.

by pbysh on Oct 29, 2009 5:55 AM EDT up reply actions

Although FSU might put up 31, in which case you may be on here

Pointing out how that one 3 and out in the 3rd quarter made all the difference

by pbysh on Oct 29, 2009 5:56 AM EDT up reply actions

We made BJ Daniels look good, we're going to make Wilson look like Vince Young..

I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.

Sorry Dude

Our defensive “performance” was against North Carolina. They have one of THE WORST offenses in the country, and they still scored 27 points!

Our defense is atrocious.

I don’t know what team you’ve been watching, but it wasn’t the seminoles.

It would be nice if it were even remotely possible though, huh?
Someday maybe.

No. The Defense playing inspired and disciplined football

Will add more fuel to the Bobby’s still got it fire. I want us to win for recruiting.

and be.....wait for it.....

“undefeated heading into the swamp”

Hey it could still happen…..right guys?

Guys?

I think we give up 30 easy IF NCst decides to make it a shootout. If they go for the points we’re willing to give up, we’re likely going to see a very high scoring game. If they keep it on the ground and intentionally go for 3-4 yards per play, i.e. the “keep away” strategy, then we’re hosed.

Also interested to see if our offense will show up. I’m a firm beleiver in process vs results, but I’m concerned about the mentality of the team. Maybe the leadership is re-energized now that Bobby’s been told where the door is (but not quite shown it).

by PBD on Oct 29, 2009 9:58 AM EDT up reply actions

I did admire his optimism and blind faith..

I used to be that way about FSU, beleiving the Noles would dominate every week. Being a product and student of the late 90’s, I never even witnessed a Home loss, but there comes a time when a man must face the facts. And the facts are that FSU is terrible this year on “D”, and NCST puts up at least 20 on us!

Off Topic

I just heard that Julio Jones hasn’t caught a pass in the Red Zone this year.

If only Ponder had him an option.

by jasonole59 on Oct 29, 2009 10:08 AM EDT reply actions

He has 3 and 1 TD

but the TD came on a 50 yd bomb against Arkansas and he’s dropped a few others.

He bleeds Garnet and Gold, She bleeds Crimson and White. AND THEY BOTH HATE ORANGE! GO NOLES!! ROLL TIDE!!

by gonolesrolltide on Oct 29, 2009 1:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Am I the only one that gets relieved when our opponents get in the Red Zone?

This really seems to be the only time we can stop them; I hope other teams don’t figure this out or they will just keep taking a knee before they reach the 25 yard line in hopes for a “big play” TD. LOL

by jasonole59 on Oct 29, 2009 10:11 AM EDT reply actions

You know that is really odd

The smaller field tends to help us a lot. Its almost like our coaches and players don’t think there’s a sense of urgency until the opposing team is inside our 5 yard line. They really do SEEM to buckle down a bit more. As long as the other team doesn’t pass to the TE.

by truenole87 on Oct 29, 2009 11:42 AM EDT up reply actions

Man coverage is tougher in shorter spaces. There is less room for the receivers to move away from the defenders.

by gahnki on Oct 29, 2009 3:04 PM EDT up reply actions

Pack 34 Noles 31

I’m going with law of averages as NCst has lost too many in a row (similar to FSUs bounce back last week) & Wilson won’t make as many mistakes as Yates, Daniels and other qbs this defense has seen.

I hope I’m wrong, but I spent five minutes in preview mode on this post and just couldn’t change the score. Sorry guys.

New Coaching Staff

The more I think about it, despite the fact that its all speculation as to WHO it will be, I have to imagine that our defense will make a tremendous leap in performance from this year to next. I mean seriously speaking as AWFUL as they’ve played we can’t forget how talented these kids are. Bring in the JUCO defenders that add much needed size and physical maturity (oh and MORE TALENT). Bring in a DE coach that’s actually played the position before, a LB coach that has a clue, a new DC (sorry, I still won’t bad mouth Mickey, but I really wish we would have let him go when he tried to leave, he needed it) and I sincerely think this defense can be VERY good next season. We may have the 107th ranked defense in the nation but our defense certainly is not the 107th most talented defense in the nation. These kids are utilized and coached poorly. Poor technique, poor angles, poor recognition. I watch the Nigels do their best to make plays off of pure instinct and it really isn’t fair to them. Bradham has the talent to be an All-American, I sincerely believe that but we watch him play like a high school LB every week. Brandon Jenkins is another kid that could be very very good very soon, Nigel Carr has an insane amount of energy and he’s very talented but looks lost and helpless all too often. I refuse to blame these kids when 2 seconds after every snap they simply aren’t in position to make plays because the opposing OC has noticed some drastic mismatch and we’ve made the QB look like Christian Ponder.

by truenole87 on Oct 29, 2009 11:50 AM EDT reply actions

and we’ve made the QB look like Christian Ponder

Nice!

Still, CTC maintains that he’s doing great job and has class and integrity. He doesn’t understand why people bash him.

I’m taking it you didn’t buy that?

by PBD on Oct 29, 2009 12:02 PM EDT up reply actions

I am working on an article

It will be about just what we can expect from our defense next year.

CP7, Please do not go Pro

by RaysnNoles on Oct 29, 2009 12:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Please do. I look forward to reading that one

Lol and PBD I don’t think they come too much more arrogant than CTC. Dude is completely incompetent and his “efforts” more often than not seem to be to the detriment of our program. I’d literally organize a rally if Bowden had his way and CTC were the defensive coordinator.

anythings possible

Its college football people, anything can happen. Mincey is a boost coming back from his injury. All I’m saying is just have hope for the noles. i still stand on my 38-6 predicton

by Panamakid507 on Oct 29, 2009 1:24 PM EDT reply actions

Let's hope your right, but we need to score more than 38

Did you know every team FSU has played posted SEASON HIGHS in Scoring, Yards, or Yards Per Play?

by Bud Elliott on Oct 29, 2009 3:25 PM EDT up reply actions

we could score more than 38

I think we will have season high for yards per play. I wish i would of found this site earlier. GREAT articles and your doing an amazing job FSUuncensored. donations? and to think i was ACTUALLY going to pay for that crappy warchant coverage.
bad news = I should of found this site before
good news = i saved a bunch of money on my football coverage by switching to tomahawknation

by Panamakid507 on Oct 29, 2009 10:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Don't worry

FSUn will replace your optimism of our d (note the lowercase), with some reality…..

Then you will hate him too. I wish I would’ve taken the other pill…………I don’t care if it’s a fantasy, I want to think our d could show up to a game and play lights out without the other teams offense taking a nose dive.

by PBD on Oct 30, 2009 8:52 AM EDT up reply actions

Looking at our next few games

we can win them until we go to Gainseville. So there is a shot at 6-6. the only one I’m not sure about is Clemson.

He bleeds Garnet and Gold, She bleeds Crimson and White. AND THEY BOTH HATE ORANGE! GO NOLES!! ROLL TIDE!!

by gonolesrolltide on Oct 29, 2009 1:58 PM EDT reply actions

I'm not sure about Wake either

Riley Skinner is still there and he’s hardly ever struggled with us. We’re as weak as his ever seen us on Defense.

by truenole87 on Oct 29, 2009 2:13 PM EDT reply actions

I'm hoping

we can pull this off for homecoming. Our D is weak, but I’m thinking Ponder is wanting to further prove to the nation that he is elite quality. I see FSU winning two out of the next four games.
