EJ used his RS last year

so we don’t have to worry about him “burning his shirt” this year. However, we shouldn’t play Secord as his RS is still available for his this year.

In addition EJ has taken a few snaps earlier this season.

4 passes, I believe.

Wish Ponder is okay. we’ll know exactly how things are by tuesday

by pillsburysoldier on Nov 2, 2009 2:02 AM EST up reply actions

Ponder will play.

Although personally I don’t think he should. There’s no way we’re holding Clemson to under 35 points.

Greg Dent is a Cane

Came to FSU for a visit on Sat, hoping he would finally get the offer he had been waiting for. Coaches told him to keep waiting, so he takes an unofficial to UM on Sunday and pulls the trigger.

Then, to add to the mishandling of the situation, after FSU hears about it, they decide to call him and offer. HE WAS RIGHT THERE 12 HOURS AGO!!!!!!!!

HUGE mistake by the coaching staff.

by NIU on Nov 2, 2009 5:23 AM EST reply actions

Oh well, the program will sell itself when we get the right def. staff. Until then let 18-yr olds w/ knee jerk reactions play wherever they want! I am sooooo tired of hearing “well if they offered me at this time……..” F*#% em, If you don’t want to be a nole, p&%@ off! I know most people don’t remember just exactly how POWERFUL this program can be, but i do! Lots of kids we missed may secretly regret not waiting a bit longer.

Put yourself in the shoes of the kid one time please

Don’t just look at it from your obviously biased perspective.

SWFLNole has a valid point

You’re right, there are multiple perspectives. Absolutely, i’m biased. Nevertheless, i am extremely tired of us not even sniffing around at our potential. This program can be GOOD! I don’t mean rebuilding, i mean next year. Bottom line, my stance is this……. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out how much “juice” we’ll get back w/ a new Def. staff. Whether the individual is 17,18 or whatever the case. This young man took a fairly spiteful tone from what i read. That’s the point i’m making, quit crying and making knee-jerk decisions, you say you want to be a nole, then you commit the next day to our arch-rival?

by Scalpemall on Nov 2, 2009 4:49 PM EST up reply actions

Ok but,

this kid has come to all our home games, sent full game tape for evaluation, and made it clear he wanted to be a Nole. He has two games left in his senior season. Miami was his only D-1 offer. He has his own future to think about, too. I am biased too, but we have to think about these kids like they’re humans who have to protect their future as well.

Im not a math major but how does this add up

If FSU wins out the ACC they go to the ACCCG when they have 3 ACC loses and BC has 2 ACC loses. wouldnt BC have to lose at lease 2 because they have a tiebraker with us and FSU has to win the next 3. Clem wouldnt matter because if we win out the ACC we have the tiebraker over them. I keep reading we win out we go to the game but I just done see how.

by Desman on Nov 2, 2009 7:21 AM EST reply actions

You have it right Des...

BC need to lose two and we have to win out. I give it a 5% chance.

OH YEAAHH!

by TBfisherman on Nov 2, 2009 8:31 AM EST up reply actions

Actually, I have a question regarding that

As I understand the rules (theres a recent fanpost about them) and the standings (theres a recent fanpost about them), If we beat Clemson (unlikely) but after that Clemson wins out (likely), they would force a 3 way tie between FSU, Clemson, and BC (assuming BC loses one game out of Virginia, UNC, and Maryland). If all 3 of teams beat each other (Clemson beat BC earlier this year), they would next go to the teams’ records in the division. We would have only one loss in the division (again, we have to win out for this scenario to occur), with Clemson having two. For BC, it depends on what game they lose, but I think its safe to say the UNC game is the most likely of those. That would also give them two losses in the division.Would that tie between Clemson and BC make them go to the next step (it says that the 3-team tie rules are supposed to narrow the field to 2 teams), or would our better record in the division give us the nod?

by kmpnole12 on Nov 2, 2009 9:34 AM EST up reply actions

Not quite correct...

If BC only loses to UNC that gives them only one loss in our division – to Clemson. So, BC and FSU advance from the 3-team tiebreaker to 2-team tiebreaker. Obviously, BC would advance since they beat us head-to-head. We need BC to either lose twice or to lose to Maryland.

by reznik1979 on Nov 2, 2009 9:49 AM EST up reply actions

thanks for the clarification

I am not going to get my hopes up until after this weekend. Beating Clemson is our biggest challenge.

OH YEAAHH!

by TBfisherman on Nov 3, 2009 8:11 AM EST up reply actions

does it matter if say FSU loses to Miami or BC.

I thought if FSU loses to a COASTAL team its only a 1/2 lose where an ATLANTIC is 1 whole. So sence FSU lost to Miami, GT and BC its only 2 loses. Or is it a ACC lose is a lose.

I heard he was in attendance for the NC State game. This is the first im hearing of him having any interest in FSU. Was he just getting a free game or is there actually any interest? If we could steal him away from the Gators that would be huge

Any timeline when MA is going to let us know about his plans

and do we have a clue if its going to be more people going also. He seemed to hint that BB might be saying something too. Prob not but just seemed that way.

Reporter: “Bobby says he wants you to stay here next year…”
Mickey: "Hmmm…(long pause)…we’ll probably do something on that tomorrow…"

Not sure what that means

by Desman on Nov 3, 2009 9:17 AM EST reply actions

So with the news of MA in his last year how will this effect

BB staying or going at the end of this year. Would BB make things on the kids that hard if he stays and make CTC the DC (GOD HELP US) and then have to teach them a new def the next year when JF gets a new DC in too. Do we know if JF will be helping with the pick on the next DC. I want to know all this just in casses BB stays. I think hes out from what he said about he and JF have talked about this and they are both ok with it. But Im getting to the point I dont know if I can trust him.

Fisher will pick...

Bowden says he’s next (Fisher), so it “only makes since that he would have a hand” in the decision. Speculation around here is that Bowden saving face a bit with HIs wording and that Fisher will actually make the higher…

As far as CTC I think Jimbo can make a couple of key phone calls and see to it that it doesn’t go that way. It’s pretty easy to argue that the defensive staff needs wholesale changes, and I think the powers that be would back him on this point. IMO

Yeah, right!

Expect that hype machine to get rolling again with this week's game on ESPN primetime

Bobby will not doubt put on another theatrical performance similar to the UNC game. I was at the game last week and BB was distant from the action on almost every drive knowing full well no one in the media was watching Raycom at noon.

It is disgusting to see what that man will do to put himself over.

I realize this isnt the place for it but rumblings that Luc will not be an early entry, could really change some things up.

by 21nole24 on Nov 4, 2009 3:31 PM EST reply actions

first we have to get this kid to commit then we can worry about getting him on campus.

If we can get him to pull the trigger and get him in Jan that would be sweet. We need all the help we can get. and I think he could get in the rotation off the bat. Them get CJ also back from his problems. but thats just a dream right now.

VT is using the bubble in their offense... I haven't seen them do that much before.

Is Jimbo rubbing off on other coordinators in the ACC?

Q about Mickey stepping down in Feb/2010 (officially)

I was wondering if by staying on until he reaches his anniversary at FSU date if that will prevent us from “officially” filling out our entire D staff for next year?

i.e. will someone have to wait until Mickey officially retires before they can be retained? and if they haven’t been officially retained can they in fact be involved with our recruiting efforts?

Or am I being just too literal, and Mickey will remain with FSU until that date, but be given some other official title to avoid any of the possible problems that I mentioned above?

Is there any chance that BB pulls a Bret Farver on us

and waits tell the last min for everything and goes to another school to get his record.

Random thought: Another silver lining to the season...

I think the USF loss hurts a little less now that we’re 4-5. USF cannot say that they’ve arrived by beating FSU. They beat the worst FSU team (record wise) in 30 years.

Not sure how all this "behind the scenes" stuff works

but methinks Nike is probably trying to throw some sort of cash ESPN’s way to try to get this to be a prime time game, hence the 6-day option in order to get this “agreement” worked out. There is absolutely no reason for this to be a night game other than to be a 4-hour commercial for Nike. I think its very unlikely its a 12pm game. A 3:30 game is somewhat more likely, but I would have to think Nike is pushing for a night game. Given the other TBA games its up against, I think Nike may just get their wish.

Will Bowden want to go out like this?

I know that many feel (and I don’t disagree) that he is done, but for this season to be his last; for it to all end this way just doesn’t seem like Bowden’s style…He’s ego, and competitiveness, and his perpetual belief that we are 1 player a way could bring him back to at least go out on winning season.

by jasonole59 on Nov 12, 2009 10:52 PM EST reply actions

I hope what he wants and what he gets are 2 totaly different things.

But money talks and BS walks. Also If what he says is true about how he told JF and they are both ok about it than If JF is cool with it Im sure we all can be cool with it.

Might not have to worry about CTC

Rumor mills have it out there that CTC is going to b looking for head coaching jobs at other schools(I don’t know who would want him though, but seems like he knows the writing on the wall for him, and that is not at FSU)

Besides the injurys why hasnt Terrence Parks seen the field?

Speed is a great asset; but it's greater when it's combined with quickness - and there's a big difference.

no idea.... guessing same reason that Moody is still behind mangum on the depth chart.

They are occasionally out of position wherease Mangum is usually in position in coverage.

MY beef is that even when he’s in position on coverage he’s such a bad athelet the play still gets made, and he’s terrible against the run.

At least with the other two you could stop the run and have a chance at stoping the pass.

Yeah, right!

by truecolors on Nov 17, 2009 10:12 AM EST up reply actions

In fairness Parks is a FS and behind J robinson... who's doing VERY WELL at FS.

Games close, so less willing to take a risk on deep balls….but he should still get in more often I agree.
