I wonder if this plays into the Bowden’s lashing back. I don’t live in Tally but I’m assuming the news isn’t pumping the anti-Bobby sentiment until now, when it’s finally reached a head. I can understand how he would be defensive about the situation as it might have jumped up on him.

Tommy Bowden: Any negative criticism he’ll hear, he’ll have to hear it from his staff and program, and I think he’ll respond just like I mentioned before. He won’t make a decision based on the fans.

Q: What will a Jimbo team do differently?

Tommy Bowden: Well, I think the Jimbo question remains to be seen, because there’s no track record. There will be things similar to past FSU teams — it will be a hard-hitting FSU team that plays real aggressive

Tommy Bowden: With most good teams, they’re not very far away from being undefeated to be honest with you. Just like myself, a couple plays short. He’s done a very good job but Clemson fans are gonna have a short fuse at this point

Q: Does Bobby want to keep the team in the family?

Tommy Bowden: Ryan, no truth to that whatsoever. Jimbo’s gonna have a tough, tough job because they’ve had so much success. And you won’t see his sons jumping in there.

Told you, folks.

Ann and Tommy with coordinated attacks, and it’s Monday. You haven’t dreamed of ugly. This is the Bowden way. This is the Bowden family. And make no mistake about it: The Bowdens choose how ugly this thing gets. My advice? Ignore them. Laugh at them. I know the truth hurts. It hurts me. I’m shaking right now. But let these people dig their graves.

LOL Q: How does a kid like Korey Mangum keep getting playing time?

Tommy Bowden: Yeah, I watch the games, but not as much to know what coverages they’re in. I used to coach secondary and there are a lot of different combinations out there so it’s hard for me to comment on his situations, unless we know specifically what they’re being coached to do.

Bowden needs to announce now in order to save the recruiting class. Recruits are citing him as a reason for not coming to FSU.

2:41

why is he a fool?

should he and the rest of the family and supporters just fade away… be afraid of websites and some other a$$es with an ax to grind? If it was my Dad I would say what I wanted to say… they are being disrespectful, they are standing by the man. Somebody put on here “F” Bobby’s wife… ??? I would hope my spouse would support me and speak up for me. This is going to get nasty… and the end will be the end, what’s going to happen will. It is really telling when the supposed “true” fans are so cruel and making these comments. What in God’s name did Tommy Bowden do to FSU? Christ… maybe I should of stayed ignorant and just read what the local papers here in Va will say about this.

by wolffbird7 on Oct 5, 2009 4:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Ann Bowden deserves the criticism she gets from FSU fans

The animosity towards Tommy is directed at the fact that his comments today show just how dug in the Bowden mafia is. They’re going to make this a brutal tooth and nail fight.

I say go down with a fight...

Jim Smith ratcheted this thing up a notch and now… firing back. Honestly… I hope the old man (said with love, respect) shows how feisty he can be and takes no prisoners. Let’s get headlines anyway we can!!! This is in no way throwing JA or CA or any of the other coaches that have proved nothing ever or in CA’s case, lately. They can move along… this is about BB and his legacy.

by wolffbird7 on Oct 5, 2009 4:39 PM EDT up reply actions

By Bobby taking no prisoners

He kills his own legacy. I would have thought this to be obvious. The more he fights this and the more fans he alienates, the less fondly they’ll remember him. I don’t think it makes sense to fight in terms of his legacy.

by DKfromVA on Oct 5, 2009 4:44 PM EDT up reply actions

just not whimpering away...

that would be worse. Yes, he has gained alot from his time here, but so have many others. He should not be railroaded and if fighting back stops the tar and feathering a bit…. go for it. That is what I meant. I am angry over this. more than I should, I have no dog in this fight… other than 30+ years of memories and a bit of hero worship… I guess guilty of that some.

by wolffbird7 on Oct 5, 2009 4:48 PM EDT up reply actions

And you will remember him more fondly

If he goes out fighting and trashing FSU with every last ounce of power that he has? That makes no sense at all. Unless of course you really do love Bobby Bowden more than Florida State University.

But Thanks for knowing my heart. I know when the Penn State stuff was happening it seemed cruel and strange. I would not go quietly or act as if it was a mutual decision.

That was great! I needed a laugh.

If the Bowdens hate fans so much, maybe they should choose another career field or go coach PeeWee football.

by FSUjab on Oct 5, 2009 3:13 PM EDT reply actions

Suggestion

The Bowdens are risking none of them ever getting another job in coaching right now if they don’t shut up. No school is ever going to want any part of this. It is appearing like you have to hire the whole family if you hire one of them. It is beginning to have the appearance of dealing with a back woods preacher.

I am not exaggerating either if you will notice that Terry can’t just coach Northern Alabama he has to comment on FSU football and buyouts.
