Bobby Bowden says he’s sure he’d "be in on" picking Mickey Andrews’ successor if Andrews retires
Bobby Bowden said on Tuesday after Florida State’s practice that he’s sure he "would be in on" picking a replacement for defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews should Andrews retire at the end of the season, as he has indicated.
Bowden’s words could give insight into his future plans to possibly remain the Seminoles’ head coach beyond this season. Some of the university’s trustees, including Jim Smith, the board’s chairman, have called for this to be Bowden’s final season.
And there has been speculation that should Bowden remain, he’d have to let head coach in waiting and offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher select Andrews’ replacement should Andrews retire.
"Of course, I hope Mickey comes back, you know," Bowden said. "But we just have to take that step-by-step."

I wonder why we didnt get Gary Brown.....
by The K-Man on Oct 6, 2009 9:01 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
This means nothing to me, almost sounds like a dying mans last wish or Jimbo wants to show respect to Bowden and allow his input. Bowden’s made a lot of mistakes and I agree with a need for an exit strategy immediately; however he does no football, and his input should at least be heard.

This guy is going to be DC Bobby
Right after the osmos lumber commercial you tell them you looked over the candidates and told Jimbo I insist we get this guy, I like his schemes.

My point is, I feel it is best for everyone to put off the perception that Bowden’s opinion is being taken into account. Obviously, Jimbo will still hire his own guy. Bowden needs to realize what’s going on around him, man up, and try to help with the program at heart. Whether that happens, is adufferent story.

Bobby is not going anywhere
I guess it is really true….he is more powerful than the University.
What a sad state of affairs…..I was so hoping for a clean slate for the future.
But now we are stuck once again in a state of mediocrity with a head coach who does not even coach.
Thanks for everything Bobby but please retire.
Total nightmare
Even the Bowden Kool-aid drinking apologists have to agree this is indefensible and that he is completely focused on himself and not the greater interests of the university.
Does Bobby have any sort of leverage besides goodwill with the deep pocketed boosters?
Are we missing something? Can Bobby’s outster have some sort of detriment that we are not seeing? So many questions, so few answers….
"I'm falling apart, I'm barely breathing, With a broken heart thats still beating, In the pain is the healing, in Your Name I find meaning, So I'm holdin' on.. holdin' on to you."
Some of the boosters really do love him more than the school/program
TK is his buddy and Randy doesn’t deserve a title.

The man is insane....
no longer capable of thinking clearly and/or rationally.
Wow
This could be a break down that out does Britney Spears’
Somebody in a positon of power has got to see the inherent wrongs of this situation.
That is… if there is anyone more powerful than Bobby Bowden…. that’s a scary thought. “All hail Coach Bowden the Almighty and Indestructible, the Immortal ruler of Seminole Nation!” Hear him roar! Bobby seems to want to control the program from beyond the grave…. even though he does NOT control it NOW.
This just gets
more pathetic every time a new set of quotes comes out. I hate to see Bowden go out like this, but at the same time I also kind of hope he pushes it so far that FSU decides to get rid of that F**king stained glass window of Bowden that basically ruins an entire side of Doak with its hideousness.
There really is no logical reason for Bowden to have any input on a new DC unless in his delusional mind he thinks he will be here long after the 2010 season.

That dumbass window bothers me more than is reasonable. Honestly, if I were president or AD I would take it down and sell the pieces as collectibles to make it more palatable. A 100 ft stained glass window of a football coach is ridiculous on many levels
by Tyler_155 on Oct 6, 2009 10:32 PM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
You are totally right. If they wanted a stained glass window it shouldn’t have been of Bowden. The Seminole head, the university seal, the state seal, ANYTHING but Bowden. It’s bizarre looking.
It'll take a brick.
Maybe a potatoe gun.

What would anybody say to that question?
Bobby is not shy… so, when asked he said he expected to have input. Does anybody really believe he would draw the line in the sand here… demanding CA to be DC? He finally let Jeff be replaced… same storm of controversy and wanting heads to roll. Pride. He does not want to grovel and especially to reporters. See how it plays out… might not be today, might not be to some folks total liking, but there will be changes. But without controversy, what would websites and sports talk do?
He needs to say no comment
or say
“We will deal with that situation when it arises”
he didn’t LET Jeff be replaced. Jeff took the money on his own. Bobby was irate. He threatened to quit over that.
Without the controversy, we’d probably just break down the games. That’s what I like about us, we’re mostly about the analysis.
Tommy didnt go out peacefully, Terry didnt go out peacefully, and Jeff didnt go out peacefully. What makes you think Bobby will?
He won’t, this is gonna be a messy divorce!

It will be over in a month
Regardless of age, every human being experiences loss at some point in their life.
He is fluxuating between stage 1 and 2
The stages:
1Denial
2Anger
3Bargaining
4Depression
5Acceptance
While the BB defenders(outside his friends) who are irrationally attached to him(for reasons that I can not understand), are between stage 2 and 3.
This process takes around a month.
He will be gone by December/January at the latest.
Well, gentlemen (and ladies, maybe?)
It looks like they want a blackout followed by a boycott.
>>---l>
Namely the games, but it can include more
Bud has set the goal of less than 40K at the Maryland game. I think it’s achievable.
>>---l>
well, there goes my trip to Tally for Thanksgiving week.
If it has be proclaimed from upon high (or from those who are high) going to the Maryland game would be sacreligious… or at least bad judgment for “true” Seminoles fans. Question: What if you have already paid for road games tix to UNC and Wake? are we supposed to abandone them? or go looking for sympathy from those folks who just cannot understand why we allow the guy to still roam the sidelines (earth?) BTW; This Jum Smith a****** is some kinda cool to be rallying behind. I am sure his agenda is deeper than the surface as well… ya think?
Or maybe he actually wants to get out of mediocrity
That Bowden is holding us in. He’s paying to fund a top notch program which Bowden is not giving us. If you’ve already paid for tickets to a game that people have proclaimed a boycott for then it kind of defeats the point, doesn’t it? They already have their money.
>>---l>
If there was ever any question
about how ugly this would get, there is your answer.
It’s going to take more than blackouts to get this old coot out the door. Get ready for a fight guys, and the fans have a role to play.
I wouldnt be shocked if TPD stopped all the black shirt wearers "for their own safety"
If you build it, they will come.
MORE FOOTBALL INFORMATION, NOW!!!!!! BRAIN IS HUNGRY!!!!!
I think that will come along with the boycott
If it comes to that. After the display on national TV, if nothing is done, then the wallets must be affected.

Ever hear the story of Govenor Bob Graham
when he signed the first death sentence after teh Supreme Court re-allowed it?
www.fsufishing.com
Well
about 200 well respected and respectful people marched on his office. Loudly, not violently but loudly. While another 1500+ called into his office. He almost changed his mind approximately 10 times, it really put pressure on him to think about what the people want. (One of my professors was on his staff). We could coordinate this. I would lead it.

On second thought, not as good as a boycott because they'd still get their money
But it’d be sweet for a TV game
>>---l>
It was a laugh shared between myself and the library
Besides, you’re just reaching for +1’s now. I’ve given Cubbie 2 today. I’m stingy.
>>---l>
Stage hell...
If you remember that WF game a few years ago then you know nothing has to be organized before hand. Start losing 30-0 to a crappy acc team and the walk-out will take care of its self.
Well losing big shouldn't be a problem
It’d just be cool if thousands of people got up at the same time and walked out of the stadium.
>>---l>
empty seats in the 4th Q will do the trick
whether they leave “all-at-once” or trickle out one at a time.
If they ignore the blackout, it'll start being 40,000 empty for the whole game
They won’t ignore that. Money talks.
>>---l>
I'm starting to think that the
FSU admin can and will ignore everything because they are more afraid of the Bowden clan than the fanbase.
Not even TK can ignore a cut that drastic in revenue
Maybe it means he and the Bowden’s cook up another scam, but he won’t flatly ignore it
>>---l>
Jeff Cameron told a funny example on
his radio shaow today: what if you went to work tomorrow and your boss fires you but you refuse to leave and keep showing up for work everyday.
Thats what could happen because BB is so damn stubborn.
TK: “Bobby you’re fired”
BB: “No I’m not YOU are. See ya tomorrow eveyone!”
No it was George
This was one of the first eps. He didn’t get fired he quit, realized it was a big mistake and then went back to work as though nothing happened. I guess that is more like Bret Farve.
LOL! I forgot that one
showed up for a meeting after he quit. ROTFLMAO!!
He wasn't ready for the Pensky file.
Although in George’s defense, he moved many files into an accordian-styler folder.
I LOVE the walkout idea. Not sure we could get many travelling fans on board, but I think it would send a huge message.
Yeah it would be tough
to convince the traveling fans to come tailgate, pay to get in, watch a couple of plays, and then leave. But it’d be awesome if it could happen.

Bobby Bowden says he’s sure he’d "be in on" picking Mickey Andrews’
successor if Andrews retires
Translation: I’m gonna promote Chuck Amato and there ain’t a dang thing you bunch a stupid play station all-americans can do about it.
I hope that clarifys the situation if any of the MSM sports "reporters are trolling thru TN tonight.
Chuck Amato?
so does nike go out the window and dolce and gabanna become the new sponsor?
Its really sad how out-to-lunch old BB is.
I have a feeling he had NO idea any of this was gonna happen. I think he thinks this was going to go on forever.
Did anyone else think that the shades Bobby was wearing last night in the interview from the golf cart came from the Amato collection?
>-----:----:------>Spear 'em then Scalp 'em
Part of his retirement package
Here coach and on top of that you get some kick @ss shades.
Sorry if I missed this comment above
but is there any chance wed go after Kevin Steele? I know there isnt really a connection with him and Jimbo, so maybe this is a blessing in disguise if Bobby would go after him?
BB WILL go after AMATO.
Don’t kid yourself. The old man gets what he wants and he wants CHUCK!
MattD is very excited to bring you his premium content next week

I haven't been to a game in awhile
I will never go to another one as long as Bowden is the coach. I wouldn’t pump one gallon of gasoline in the car to go up for that. It is just going to be up to the students to get this message across. They have to be fed up by now. Black outs and I would suggest taking paper bags into the games to put over your heads.

I posted this on ESPN's boards...Typos and all
To any of you who think that 15 years of greatness out weigh 8 years of a very sub-par FSU team: clearly were not on campus to go through it.
You weren’t on campus when you had to sit next to your friend’s parents who had a son on the WF football team who beat you 0-31.
You weren’t on campus when you could literally pick up tickets off of the ground for the FSU -UF game.
You weren’t on campus when Stephen Colbar came to do his comedy show, only to be greeted by a losing football team that would lose the very next weekend.
You weren’t there watching Wyatt Sexton party his future away.
You weren’t there watching the players dick around in the campus gym.
You weren’t there. And because you weren’t there when the poo hit the spinning blade I don’t really care much about what you think.
I WAS THERE. I sat there—every game… Every tragic moment—giving my unending support—watching what was once a great team fall on their face…
If you weren’t there, then I just plain, do not care.

Another comment...after sugesting that I be put in the same situation Bobby is...
Me too, but only after I pull 2.5 million for 8 years while I become senile, get to work with my son, who is really bad @ his job—hire all of my cronies—who for the life of me can’t coach like they use to, daggummit—then get a golden parachute of a cool million when I leave…
Hell, it’ll be a steal!!! I’d take it in a heartbeat.
What I hope I do, as a human being in this life, is give the future a chance.
Tonight is much like Christmas Eve for me as a kid.
I’m anxious to see what KidG&G and FSUn have for us in the morning about what actually went down in Bowden’s Man Cave© (credit Wolffbird7). So, I’m trying to stay up to catch the article when it first posts, but know if I just fall asleep it will feel like it got here sooner.
I'm with you my man
I’m putting in Bud-esque hours tonight for my midterm in the morning so hopefully I’ll catch the story hot off the presses
>>---l>
The last two morning articles Bud posted were at 3:40 and 4:25 EDT
I’m not gonna stay up that long. Best of luck on the mid-term, dude.
What does everyone make of all the former players coming out saying they are unhappy with FSU?
I’m all for Bobby leaving but is this going to burn that many bridges?
Darnell and Deion aren't exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer
And Leon Washington said, “it’s time” on facebook or twitter or something. So I’m not too concerned.
>>---l>
Don't care
If they can’t see what has become of the program they need to wake up.
Plus, look at the guys like Chris Hope who introduce themselves as FSU of the “90s”, those guys will probably react favorably to a new coach, if it means winning.
by tdchrisdavis on Oct 7, 2009 12:56 AM EDT up reply actions
What old player helps us recruit anyway?
Can you think of one? Outside of showing up for Seminole Showdown I mean. Its not like Derrick Brooks has come out and said he should stay, and he would be the only old Nole to make me worry a bit. If Peyton can be a class act when Fulmer got the boot why can’t our guys? Result of us putting Bobby before FSU and UT not doing the same for Phil?
by osceolafan850 on Oct 7, 2009 1:28 AM EDT up reply actions
Leon Washington "it's time"
Did it involve a soulja boy quote as well?
What would you expect his former players to say?
They’re looking at this from a much different perspective. They don’t know half the crap that’s going on around the football program anymore.
Shaun King is also saying.....
this will not be Bowden’s last year…..per ESPN. If this is infact the case, it’s not what I was hoping for, but it could be worse, I guess.
At least now Jimbo will be able to get his coaching staff in place.
