Spetman question?
Is Spetman the AD next year? I have seen it speculated that he will be gone next year. If so, when did this get announced? What has his track record been while here? I think he's done a great job of staying behind the scenes and out of the public eye. But, I am not sure if it isn't his job to stay out the public eye and mov ethe need le quietly behind the scenes.

I have heard that he has donea good job with sports outside of football.
I tend to think he is just riding the coat tails of what Dave Hart left behind.

Everything but volleyball is Dave Hart success....
Spetman makes Jeff Bowden look like Norm Chow.

I've heard him described as TK's lap dog
More likely the new president will bring his/her own guy.
Somebody set us up the Bowden. All your field are belong to us.

Is rehiring Hart out of the question?

Absolutely
He is the “AD in Waiting” at Alabama

Alas...I think TK's got to take care of this coaching business before the Prez comes in
That’s a big steaming pile to leave for a new President.

Well, since it looks like Bowden gets another year(thanks Crist), Spetman will be on his own in 2011 when Fisher's contract comes due, since TK will obviously be gone
The way he handles that I think will be what it says about his leadership or lack there of, and I would imagine the new Prez will stay out of that situation as much as he can and Septman will really be in the spotlight on that decision, I’ll judge him at that time.
Kind of hard to really judge him since he’s been in TK’s shadow and the fact that Hart left the Athletic departments in really good shape, other than the Bowden situation but that’s TK’s fault for promising Bowden the world.

He is so far in over his head it isn't funny....
FSU can’t wait around again waiting for an incompetent to clearly display it.
A new president needs to go hire a real AD……FSU can’t afford anymore damage than it has already sustained.

not only should TK take care of it
I wonder if due to the political nature of it all that leaving it to the next President negatively impact the pool of candidates.

Hopefully not
From what I have heard, the AD community hates TK for what he did to the highly respected Dave Hart. A new regime might re-open some doors that were once shut.

It definitely would. Why take that job with all that athletic crap going on.
when at the same time you have to deal with Florida cutting Higher ed budgets since its tax base is falling apart with the lack of tourism.
It’s a total sh*t storm.

Crist's budget gutting Prop 13 and the short-sighted people who couldn't see past, "Oooooo! I could save $200 per year in property taxes on my McMansion," who voted for it are the main contributors to the current state budget shit storm.
Ironically (or not), Crist is fully supporting Bowden.

I don't know if he will be next year
But he won’t be long term.
The guy has no power. But he doesn’t know that. He’s in way over his head. Definitely not progressive.

What was the reasoning
behind Hart’s firing?
by Nole93 on Nov 19, 2009 3:25 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Long story short
He was behind Jeff getting bought out by the boosters, pissed Bobby off

Hart was hired by a predecessor
In essence, Hart was hired by a predecessor who was hands off for athletics, and TK thought part of his job as UP was to be AD.

Also, if you go to this link and read the comments, I gave my perspective along with some other readers.
