Mickey Andrews just announced that he will address his future with the team tomorrow. Expect Andrews to announce that this will be his last season Look for him to spend more time with his wonderful wife and grandkids. He’s been a great ’Nole.

Man I love Mickey

We played a very good offense. Thought their QB was more accurate than anyone he has seen. 3 TD passes were absolutely perfect.

“It was good to win, we didn’t contribute as much as you need to. I don’t remember playing against a QB that hit his targets as well as Wilson did on Saturday.”

“It was disapointing because we gave up 42 points and over 500 yards. We seem to have become comfortable with giving up too many points and too many yards and that is a grave concern.”

22 missed tackles, worst in a while.

1st down killed us. 309 yards came on 1st down. (1 for 80 1 for 60 killed )

Get 10 stops, only got 7.

Often had just 1 man out of position.

Happy that they finished each half strong.

Andrews: “We need to play smarter and with more determination. Several times we had one guy who was out of position and they made us play. We finished out the first and second half well. There is a lot of room for improvement.”

On their last TD, our db turned back when he couldn’t feel him and can’t do that.

by Bud Elliott on Nov 2, 2009 1:39 PM EST reply actions

Andrews: “We knew going in that you had to clamp onto receivers when Wilson wouls start to scramble around. That was one of the ways they scored against us by not doing what we practiced.”

On mister/dekoda package

If people would promise they wouldn’t run the football we’d do it on 1st down!

Mickey: "Somebody's just got to step up and make a play."

Reporter asks: “You mean like Korey Mangum?”

And that’s when Mickey started laughing uncontrollably.

OK, I made that up…

Coach Andrews said that the youth has been the reason for simplifying the defense

THIS IS BULL

Reporter: "Bobby says he wants you to stay here next year..."

Mickey: “Hmmm…(long pause)…we’ll probably do something on that tomorrow…”

Not sure what that means

sneaky move

That would be a sneaky move by Bowden. Convince Mickey to come back one more year, leaving no positions for Jimbo to fill and thus keeping his (Bowden’s) buddies around for one more year.

by osceolafan850 on Nov 2, 2009 1:54 PM EST up reply actions

Bowden is a supervillain dude

We are dealing with Ra’s Al Ghul or Voldermort or someone. I don’t know the limits of his powers.

(I am joking bobby lovers)

by osceolafan850 on Nov 2, 2009 1:58 PM EST up reply actions

I don't even think Bowden meant anything by it.

I think it was a courtesy comment from one old friend to another. Also, he’s not going to say “He should go” because that opens the door for other comments about who should go…

He’s already said that Jimbo, as the future of FSU, should pick the next DC. He knows it’s coming.

Yeah that was an interesting answer from Mickey

Looking at his body language though and his response it doesn’t bode well for Mickey. Everyone knows our defense is terrible and I think this year has really taken a toll on Mickey because he loves FSU. I think the university throws a bone at the fans and gets rid of him to show at least some change is coming. Tuesday will be an interesting day for sure.

by 1newplayer on Nov 2, 2009 2:03 PM EST up reply actions

Don't think the school has anything to do with it.

If anyone is throwing a bone it is MA. He knows he can’t fix the D. Trying to do it with Amato and Allen on staff is like trying to fix a sports car with Lego blocks

I agree

worded it a bit wrong. I think the announcement on his decision was moved up because of the current situation.

Truly can’t say enough about him.

Quite possibly the greatest assistant coach in college football over the last two decades.

He deserves something named after him too.

+100

Its rough seeing him go out like this. The man fielded some of the best defenses to ever grace the college gridiron.

Says Ponder is fine. Says it looks like less press lol

by osceolafan850 on Nov 2, 2009 2:07 PM EST reply actions

Says Ponder played all last year with two cracked ribs so he will play with bruised ribs

by osceolafan850 on Nov 2, 2009 2:09 PM EST reply actions

Says should have been more big plays and points and yards were left out there

by osceolafan850 on Nov 2, 2009 2:10 PM EST reply actions

Says Ponder grades out higher than anyone he has ever graded and Hudson grades out better than anyone Trick has ever graded

by osceolafan850 on Nov 2, 2009 2:12 PM EST reply actions

Welcome to my side

Sit down make yourself comfortable. Wait for Ponder to pick up a first round and top 10 pick next year.

by 1newplayer on Nov 2, 2009 2:21 PM EST up reply actions

Says Ponder would get more buzz if we were winning more.

by osceolafan850 on Nov 2, 2009 2:14 PM EST reply actions

You can hear the buzz beginning on the Atlanta radio circut

but they don’t think he should go just yet. What they’re saying on 680 the Fan is that the folks in the NFL are starting to notice him.

4-5 fumbles as well

Like Fortson drops TD against UM, then Ponder sacked and stripped on next play.

So he may be infering missed assignments

Lonnie Pryor won blocker of the week!

We let our lineman/linebacker sldie the backside of the zone but we let lonnie handle a defensive end a few times!

He made a couple of great blocks

He stuffed a LB that led to Thompson’s TD

biggest challenge v. clemson?

Their front, oh man their front. Can you block them with 5? You can tell Fisher thinks Clemson’s D is better than UNC’s

by Bud Elliott on Nov 2, 2009 2:18 PM EST reply actions

Says Clemson has a great front except maybe bigger.

A bunch of talk about Bert Reed growing up and disciplining him

and all the kids

Says some kids come from backgrounds where certain behavior is OK and it just is not OK other places.

by Bud Elliott on Nov 2, 2009 2:24 PM EST reply actions

Fisher said that Steele has picked up a lot of things from Alabama. Hahaha he laughs. He said what he does is Alabama. Not what he got from FSU.

by Bud Elliott on Nov 2, 2009 2:29 PM EST reply actions

On future DC's...

we’ll tell recruits coach bowden and myself will sit down and talk about it

by Bud Elliott on Nov 2, 2009 2:36 PM EST reply actions

“I’m sure there will be outstanding guys out there. This is a great job. love it here.”

by Bud Elliott on Nov 2, 2009 2:36 PM EST reply actions

"I love it here"

Sounded sheepish, for reasons only Jimbo knows

by Trus1te on Nov 2, 2009 2:38 PM EST up reply actions

on hampering recruiting

it does but it depends on your timetable, and it matters how quickly you handle that

by Bud Elliott on Nov 2, 2009 2:36 PM EST reply actions

Sounds like he means that our future DC is currently employed elsewhere...

No inside knowledge here but that makes sense as anyone we hire will (hopefully) not be available until December/January (due to bowl games/maybe available in December before a bowl if their team releases them before them). I guess it doesn’t make sense to hire someone now with only 4 or 5 (depending on bowl eligibility) games left when we can probably hire someone much better after the season.

“Everyone is going to hold each other accountable. Bert has done a great job and there was never any resistance. He listens and he is a team player and I am happy he is playing so well.”

Says defense steps up when they need to lol

by osceolafan850 on Nov 2, 2009 2:50 PM EST reply actions

on the crowd: we kind of expect it

we’re disappointed int he season, I’m sure the fans are even more so.

We’ll play if there are 1 or 83,000 in the stands.

by Bud Elliott on Nov 2, 2009 2:53 PM EST reply actions

Says would the hype lure him back

Ponder jokes and says a Heisman would be nice. Says a lot of potential for next year and that is what would be the lure, not the awards

by osceolafan850 on Nov 2, 2009 2:59 PM EST reply actions

biggest thing that would bring me back next year is our potential. There is not much about individual awards. I would rather get to an ACC and National Title. When the time comes I will make that decision. We have more games ahead.

by Bud Elliott on Nov 2, 2009 2:59 PM EST reply actions

Wonder if FSU will be competing with UGA

for the next DC. I know Richt has not announced any action with Wllie Martinez, but I suspect something is coming.
