Looking like Sal will be hired as DC and DE coach soon?
How about LBs? DBs? ST?
so is it the word on the street or is there paper work out there.

I have an inside source
that says Travis Jones is very unhappy in New Orleans. Apparently he does not get along well with the Head DL coach and would be open to new opportunitites.
My source has been around FSU’s locker room and in Pro’s locker room and he thinks Jones would fit in great at FSU
"It boils down to one of two things: It's either the horses or the jockeys. And we think we have some pretty good horses."
I hope your source is wrong...we need collegiate playcalling experience...we're too big a name to take a DL coach with zero playcalling as a DC.
Unless we hire him to recruit/DL I want better.
Yeah, right!
I agree
I would not want him in a DC role either
"It boils down to one of two things: It's either the horses or the jockeys. And we think we have some pretty good horses."
why would Sunseri be a great catch?
His bio seems old school and entrenched to me. Is that what we need to learn to stop modern spread offenses?
Serious question.

and while he's not old...he's the oldest of the candidates (or one of them)...
I think the answer to your question is….
“Because Saban said so”….LOL
exactly
If Saban hired him he must be good…
I’m not saying he’s not, but that has been alot of the hype around him. Personally, I’d be happy with just about anybody that came from Bama’s D Staff.
My thinking
Was that TJ is coaching a solid NFL and may be sporting a Super Bowl ring by the time he comes to FSU. The Saints DL gave that Pats all kinds of trouble. TJ being a La. guy would help in recruiting the La. – Miss. areas as well as DLs in general and the NFL exp. a big plus for the top recruits. Given that he was the recruiting coordinator for the top class at LSU (I think it was in ‘03), we would hope that he hasn’t lost his skills.
Sunseri is the LB coach for arguably the top D in college football and has already been screened for quality and competency by Saban & Swift. As I understand it, he’s pretty good at recruiting from the Carolinas to Virginia.
Most of our guys already come from Ga. & Fla. With a better team and better coaches, one would only expect us to improve there.
So with Sunseri & TJ we would get quality coaching for the from 7 on D and should have good recruiters to cover the entire Southeast. I am not concerned about recruiting Alaska, Oregon, or Maine because those kids can tend to get homesick and transfer. Plus, there is enough talent in the SE to make a NC team.
On a seperate note, T-Buck as DB, special teams, or strength & conditioning coach, could be a plus. He was one of the best ever. While he is not proven as a coach, our gyus cannot possible be out of position more, and I think he’d be good for recruiting. He’s stayed close to the program, and unlike BB he doesn’t need the money. Myron Rolle has said that he has vastly improved his speed and agility due to working with T-Buck. If he turns out to be a flop, you would hope a competent DC could come in and fix things—similar to what Trickett has done for the RBs and their blocking assignments this season.
Need an edit feature
Because I also meant to point out that we have had a lot of problems with the D front 7 this year, which should greatly improve with these quality coaches. Maybe we’ll be able to stop a running play for less than 7 or 8 yards.
I like Tbuck
But not as a “Strength and Girth” coach as someone once put it
"It boils down to one of two things: It's either the horses or the jockeys. And we think we have some pretty good horses."
It was a mistake from a poster in the past, don't remember who
Might have been a Freudian slip
It's a beautiful day in Tallahassee
Jasonole is making my point. he's a quality LB coach coming from a multiple defense philosophy.
Additionally my point was the combo of a fairly good recruiter coming from a Saban philosophy and an NFL DL/strength coach sounds pretty good from where I’m sitting.
not just Sunseri, but the combo.
Yeah, right!
I have ?
So say we dont get rid of Bobby this year and L Miles has another bad year at LSU. Do think Jimbo gets tired of this circus and would go to LSU I know there is alot of if’s but we betterget used to people wanting Jimbo as there head coach.
no. As good as LSU is...the potential upside is even bigger here once you've gotten full control
Yeah, right!
Anyone in favor of switching to the new Unis as long as we use gold helmets?
ME….I like the all Garnet at home and White/Gold on the road…

Black helmet is not permanent
Well, I hope it isn’t. I don’t mind seeing them once every couple years but our helmet should be GOLD.
I thought they were pretty good other than the helmets.
I hate that we put anything black into our uniforms considering its not even our 3rd color.
I actually thought the uniforms looked pretty good.
I just like the tradition of college football. There are certain uniforms that have stood the test of time with very little change. I would throw FSU’s unis in that category, though our history isn’t quite as long as some other schools.
They did look alot better than some of the other pro combat unis.
While I'm not under 28 (except in my own mind)
I have to say, I liked the unis better than I thought I would. If we were Penn St. or ND, I’d cry foul. But our current unis aren’t that odl school and tradtional. Cool, no doubt, but they only go back as far as Burt Reynolds in his heyday and his connections with a Hollywood fashion designer, iirc. In other words, they are relics from the Bowden Era only.
It wouldn’t hurt my feelings to either keep the 80’s unis, or change them as part of the sweeping changes being made in a new a direction (while keeping our trademark gold helmets). But I think Under Armor should be given a shot at coming up with something too.

Do most people under 28 also like the Oregon unis
b/c I thought the new FSU unis were comparable
I actually like some of the Oregon unis
but they have so many and some of them are god-awful.
True, the opinion of recruits matter short-term, but the overall public image and the opinion of fans matter just as much in the long-term.
Is this supposed to be an "out of touch old person" swipe?
I guess it must be cool if most people under 28 loved them. Did your poll also include whether these uniform lovers also watch The Hills, are fans of Harry Potter and like Twilight?

I’d like to see the black helmet with the black uniforms every couple years (not every year). It’d be a real blackout.

the black helmets rock with the gold pearl essence paint flake!!!
You get the best of youthy black helmets and shimmering gold dancing in the sun.
Love the new unis as is.
Yeah, right!
Maybe once in a while at a night game.
Black helmets can be hot. The purpose of the unis is to stay light & cool.
The golden spearhead helmets are the best we’ve had.
This is an old article from SI by Mandel, but I think it is one of the reason we can get to elite status again.
Simply put, we’ve been there before. I know there’s alot of $$$ talk, etc…, But recruits don’t know how much money we spend…they see the castle known as Doak (which is pretty impressive), they see the crystal footballs, get to see a glimpse of the tradition, and we will have a very Solid coaching staff.
Like others have said, we’ve always been at a disadvantage financially, but we shouldn’t sell ourselves short on what we DO have to offer here.

I think in about 20-30 years we will be seeing more “money” assuming we start winning again. Our law school is top 50 in the nation now and in 20-30 years our doctor grads will be in the peak of their careers. The money should be there. We won’t ever be the richest school, but our finances will never prevent us from competing.

So what now.
Do we talk about the bowl we get vs a SEC or Big east team. Do we look into when BB is going to step down. Do we find a new DC. Is there a way to find out the timelines. All I know is that these next 2 weeks are going to ether be very big or a train wreck for the recruits and the future team for the next 2-3 years.

College Football Live
I was watching CFL last night, and the discussion was on which elite team that is down now is in the worst shape:
Florida State
Michigan
Notre Dame
One of the guys picked FSU (Brock)…Todd McShay changed the question around a bit before answering with Notre Dame.
Considering the history
Mich and ND are definitely worse off..
CFL did another poll on which team will be a title contender first
fsu
nebraska
notre dame
michigan
The results went Michigan, Nebraska, FSU, ND.
I think FSU will get there before UM.
And before ND
With Claussen & Tate possibly leaving for the NFL, ND is left with zilch.
FSU is making big changes, so its a little hard to predict FSU until we know what’s coming on the defensive side of the ball and how the potential recruits will welcome the changes. We have some young talent on D that hopefully will ripen into greatness if they can get some coaching and solid depth through recruiting. I trust JF & Trickett to maintain consistency on offense, because the pillars of a good offense are a good OL and QB.
are we going to make a pool of how long CTC has tell hes given his pink slip.
Will CTC and that DE coach be here though the Bowl game.

Best way to buy Gator Bowl tickets?
I know the school gets an allotment, and tickets can be purchased directly from FSU, but tickets can also be purchased directly from the gator bowl site.
Do you guys have any experience with bowl tickets, and which is the best option?
Local news reported last night
that the boosters had not seen any increase in new members since the Bowden announcement. Said that the boosters had received numerous emails, letters, calls from people stating that they would join the boosters when Bowden was gone, and it hasn’t happened.
Wow…give it some time people!

Is it sad that I have pretty much moved on from the whole Bobby situation?
If he left when he threatened to, I probably would have been devastated (this informed or not, btw thanks TN), but now I am over it and these 3 commits are only helping me embrace the Jimbo era.

It seems that the media is pretty much over it too...
Not seeing much about it on ESPN other than the ticker that says we could get the Gator Bowl.
The reason you wont see it on ESPN
is because they are busy trying to find things to praise timmy for.
