So how many people watched the UT-A&M game or Bama-Auburn ...

…and said afterward “You know, I’d be thrilled if we lost that kind of game to UF.”

What more do you need to know about the state of our program?

Arkansas and Miss. St think they have a realistic chance to win, but we don’t.

FsuUn — I don’t know how you even mustered the gumption to type “Go noles.”

It’s all too depressing for me.

by Fsued on Nov 28, 2009 9:02 AM EST reply actions

I'd be happy

if we won that kind of game against FSU.

I know there’s a lot of “I hope we get drubbed so Bowden retires” sentiment on this site.
But I want to beat the Gators.

My father gave me his preliminary gloating call yesterday and I practically concede defeat telling him we have no chance.
But I want to beat the Gators

I don’t care if it’s because they’re looking past us to ‘bama. I don’t care if it’s because of a bad call. I don’t care if it’s all because of special teams and bad weather conditions.

I WANT TO BEAT THE GATORS!!!!!

by CelticPride on Nov 28, 2009 10:09 AM EST up reply actions

but gators don’t care about them. Psychological edge for those 2. We aere all similarly sized underdogs and they didn’t lose 4 offensive starters

Rereading it...stilll amazing!

I don’t know what to say really. Three minutes till the biggest battle of our professional lives. It all comes down to today. Now either we heal as a team, or we’re gonna crumble. Inch by inch, play by play, till we’re finished. We’re in hell right now, gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb out of hell. One inch at a time.

Now I can’t do it for you. I’m too old. I look around, I see these young faces, and I think… I mean I’ve made every wrong choice a middle-aged man can make. I pissed away all my money, believe it or not. I chased off anyone who’s ever loved me, and lately, I can’t even stand the face I see in the mirror. You know when you get old in life, things get taken from you. That’s part of life. But you only learn that when you start losing stuff. You find out life’s this game of inches. And so is football. Because in either game, life or football, the margin for error is so small. I mean… one half a step too late or too early and you don’t quite make it. One half second too slow too fast, you don’t quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They are in every break of the game, every minute, every second. On this team, we fight for that inch. On this team, we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches, that’s gonna make the fucking difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying! I’ll tell you this – in any fight, its the guy whose willing to die who’s gonna win that inch. And I know if I’m going to have any life anymore, it’s because I’m still willing to fight and die for that inch. Because that’s what living is! The 6 inches in front of your face…

Now I can’t make you do it. You’ve got to look at the guy next to you, look into his eyes. Now I think you’re gonna see a guy who will go that inch with you. You’re gonna see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team, because he knows when it comes down to it, you’re gonna do the same for him.

That’s a team, gentlemen. And either we heal, now, as a team, or we will die, as individuals. That’s football, guys. That’s all it is. Now, what are you going to do?

GOOOOO NOOOOOLLLLLLEEEEEESSSSSSSSS

by Miaminole on Nov 28, 2009 9:32 AM EST reply actions

I love that scene,

But unfortunately our team is going to hear something like this:

Boys….get ready to fight….(looks at paper)….got the Hurricanes today….I’m hungry…can’t win if we turn the ball over….(stares in space, scratches head)…Rix, you got to hold on to that thing….leave me alone during the second quarter, thats nap time…bring it in, lets pray.

Our fearless leader waived the cussing rules for this thread. But NO PICTURES please.

I think he knew it was inevitable today for those of us watching the game.

by FrankDNole on Nov 28, 2009 1:35 PM EST up reply actions

Hey Guys, I have a hunch here

It would be easy for a lot of us to see most of what im going to say but I am going to say it anyway. I think Jimbo is going to pull out all the stops and it will start with using Greg Reid on offense. I think he realized weeks ago that a dynamic player like reid cant be kept off the field but saw no reason to allow others to game plan for it. Now is the perfect time in Jimbos mind and I think greg gets 5 touches/plays on offense. I also think Reid is highly motivated for this game and I could see him getting 2 TDs in this game. It could come in any fashion (D, O, ST). Win or lose he will be our MVP and he will see plenty of action

by PJVNolefan on Nov 28, 2009 10:17 AM EST reply actions

I would hope so...

We can’t beat them straight up. We need to pull out gimmicks and trick plays. If we don’t, and try to beat them with a standard gameplan, it will almost be like conceding defeat from the get-go…

TB is pretty clueless

But they are not that stupid.

by RaysnNoles on Nov 28, 2009 1:15 PM EST up reply actions

Well jason Fergeson is 35 and is done for the year with injury

I think NG is really the only option for our 3-4 D, except for maybe WR. I think they want to resign Ronnie Brown. When healthy he’s one of the best around. Too bad he’s had season ending injuries 2 of the last 3 seasons.

by NorthernHaze on Nov 28, 2009 12:27 PM EST up reply actions

Good that we held onto Ricky.

He’s really risen to the occasion so far. Certainly isn’t running like a 32-year-old.

by Drew J Jones on Nov 28, 2009 12:45 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Think so, too.

Sad. We really need him right now.

by Drew J Jones on Nov 28, 2009 1:46 PM EST up reply actions

Big time.

Can’t fathom how they can run the 3-4 without him.

by Drew J Jones on Nov 28, 2009 1:47 PM EST up reply actions

Kinda doubt Ronnie comes back.

Ricky’s retiring after next season, so, yeah, they need a RB, unless Hilliard surprises. I’m gonna miss the Wildcat formation if we dump Ronnie.

Gonna miss watching Ricky. Best back in Fins history.

by Drew J Jones on Nov 28, 2009 12:36 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Amazing thing:

If Ricky were the sole workhorse, does anyone doubt he’d have put up a solid 1300 yards, minimum? He may put that up anyway. Guy’s still better than most of the young backs.

by Drew J Jones on Nov 28, 2009 2:04 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Though I hate Clausen

I think he might have the right attitude to succeed in SFla

by Trus1te on Nov 28, 2009 12:26 PM EST up reply actions

Why would they do that?

Henne’s a much better NFL QB than Tebow will be.

by Drew J Jones on Nov 28, 2009 12:33 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

They might want a fullback that can throw decently

Getting four yards over and over is a dream to an Oline/Head coach.

by NorthernHaze on Nov 28, 2009 12:36 PM EST up reply actions

I don't think Tebow will be in the league long

Or he will be…but I just feel like after that concussion his perspective on things changed

by Trus1te on Nov 28, 2009 12:38 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed.

Tebow’s going to get hurt if he tries to play this way in the NFL.

by Drew J Jones on Nov 28, 2009 12:46 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

That's my thinking.

But it doesn’t seem to be discussed a lot. I keep hearing linebacker, fullback, etc. I don’t know. Maybe he can’t catch or block very well?

by Drew J Jones on Nov 28, 2009 1:21 PM EST up reply actions

No way.

I want him to try to give one of those epic stupid speeches to the old-timers in the NFL, and to see their reaction.

I think they check them for shanks before the games now, so Teabag can breathe a tad easier.

by Drew J Jones on Nov 28, 2009 1:47 PM EST up reply actions

Yep.

Precisely how I envision Tebow’s intro to NFL hitting.

by Drew J Jones on Nov 28, 2009 1:40 PM EST up reply actions

I think he's got half the tools you need in an NFL QB

Hes a good leader, I think they would listen to him. Its not about obeying, its about getting off your ass and ready to go, and tebow can do that.

His arm is obviously not up to par. A secondary like GB’s would get 6 picks on him minimum; Slow motion. He’s just doesn’t seem to be anything close to an NFL pocket passer.

by NorthernHaze on Nov 28, 2009 2:11 PM EST up reply actions

Possible but doubtful.

That would assume Tebow can push guys around in the NFL. I doubt it.

Lived in Gainesville, worked EMS. Bumcha friends who are GPD/ACSO, and Tebow is no angel. EVERYTHING gets ignored down there, and if it’s too big to be ignored, it gets “rectified” by UF. It’s pretty crooked. However, for the most part Tebow hasn’t been in any trouble his junior and senior year.

No matter

How you look at this game, there is no scenario in which we have any sort of advantage whatsoever. We have good receivers/running backs, they have excellent D, everywhere. We have no defense, they have a great offense. We get no calls, they get every call. They have the second coming, we have a backup. They have coaches and we have, well…you know what we have. Etc and etc.

This would be the biggest upset in FSU history, and it would make my extremely miserable academic semester one of the best ever. Wow would it be awesome. I should probably say I would do something crazy if we won, but nothing comes to mind. I’ll just be ecstatic.

Need to bust them up so bad

Alabama stomps them.

The worst thought right now is another BB speech. Well they just whooped us. That Tebow is great we got no answer for him. I am sure going to enjoy Florida games as a neutral.

The good thing about it is with BB being so testy lately and his sidekick Ann it seems they just might be leaving. If Brooks was sure BB was leaving he might not have said it is tough decision.

Predictions

-At least once, Bobby Bowden will write something down on his little notebook, probably after a 30 yard pass.

-Over/Under on Bobby Bowden nose blows? I’m gonna go with 10.

-Bobby Bowden standing at least 30 yards away from the action. I have a photo of him (when I was in Gainesville a couple of years ago for the game) doing this. Good stuff.

-Announcers comment on Riley Cooper’s blocking at least 4 times.

-Verne’s poor eyesight and not knowing the rules will be on full display. Anyone remember the 70 yard TD pass earlier this year where the Arky WR fumbled the ball into the end zone (and then recovered it). Verne: “Is this an incomplete pass?”

Bobby Needs to Leave

This is by far the worst I’ve ever seen the Seminoles. It’s becoming hard to defend and cheer for them. Bobby has enjoyed this love affair for far to long with lack luster results for the past couple years. Hell since the late 90’s the Seminoles have been awful. I love them to no end but we need a big change in staff. If you can’t be candid about FSU football then your part of the program’s problem

by bryan_leavell on Nov 28, 2009 5:42 PM EST reply actions

I know we're gettin' killed......

but don’t these SEC homers EVER throw a flag on FU?. Check Teblow’s “stiff arm” in Mangum’s face. Jeez, Bible Boy has Kory by the chin strap twisting it around?!?

Smith ran a crappy route....

and let the corner come underneath him. Dumb.

by Grizzlynole on Nov 28, 2009 6:01 PM EST reply actions

Sad day

When I saw the line at 24.5, I thought that would be plenty of motivation for the Seminoles. Come on…..24 points? Apparently the bookies had it right. The defense was bad enough, but it was disappointing that E.J. and crew could get nothing going on offense. Clearly Jimbo has to take responsibility for having such a fall off with his second string, highly recruited QB. I have to ask, what will improve if Bobby steps down? I suspect he will make some changes in the coaching on defense.

by Slambajama on Nov 28, 2009 10:34 PM EST reply actions

Welcome!

Much will change when Jimbo is the head coach, but much of it will take place regardless. We will clean house on the defensive side of the ball with the possible exception of Odell, and Dexter Carter will be gone on offense. James Coley will be our OC, and we will hire someone who can recruit very well to coach the RB’s. With Bobby gone, we not only will have the money to pay a top-notch staff, but we will have another coach to recruit, and we will not be held back by the enigma that is his persona.

The offensive performance, while disappointing, had to be expected against the #1 defense in the country at home. We were missing 4 starters on offense, and EJ had to go into the Swamp to play his first true road game (WF doesn’t count). That being said, we put up the 3rd best offensive numbers against Florida of any of the teams that they have played this year.
