Before they wheel the old man out and listen to the excuses again.

That and I can not listen to the Teabag love fest anymore. My letter to the boosters goes out tonight, I am holding back my contribution.

I would like someone to tell me how on a 4th and 4 the offense is given a free 5 yards with an offsides does it come out to be 4th and inches?

Didn't the scouting reports...

rave about his “big” arm. Said he could make all the throws, tons of zip. What happened? Not that it was his fault that we lost, just wondering where his arm went.

All I want to know is when this man bb is getting out of town, who the next DC is, and how many defensive lineman are we signing that weigh over 300 pounds.

I guess BB is sitting down with Jimbo now to mutually agree on who the next DC is. I am sure BB could lure the best there is here.

Anyone that can accept this is a Bowden fan first and an FSU fan second. Unfortunately, and it truly PAINS me to say this, those type of fans make up a substantial portion of our fanbase.

The hardcores, the ones that live and die with the program, the ones that follow college football nationally and realize just how far away we are, find this completely unacceptable and have for years.

So far this season I’ve given away 4 tickets so no I haven’t attended a game this year. But I have watched every game that’s been televised and from what I could see the stadium couldn’t be more than 60% full the last few home games. Something’s got to give and like always the all mighty dollar will win.

by JabaJiba on Nov 28, 2009 8:29 PM EST up reply actions

I’ve been to all the games and you’re right. For NC State and Maryland the band endzone was almost entirely empty. USF was probably the only game that was close to a sellout.

I do think eventually he will be pushed out, but our administration seems to see that as a last resort. They’ll deal with terrible on field results, plummeting attendance and contributions, and division within the fanbase before they will dare upset an old man.

I don't think anyone said that this was acceptable

I'm not saying people here are happy.

People here live in reality. I didn’t get a chance to watch the pressers, did Bowden pull is “We are one player away” crap?

the ole move

It has become apparent to me that we have finally mastered the “Ole” move in feigning a real tackle. That and playing 15-20 yards off of the receiver to keep from being run by all day. What a sweet defense!!! Gag me.

I was thinking about that whole “one player away” nonsense during the game. You could give us Lawrence Taylor in his prime and I still don’t think this defense would be average.

by 38Noles on Nov 28, 2009 8:35 PM EST up reply actions

Exactly

You aren’t down 30-0 because of one player. The talent gap between these two schools is massive, and that falls on Bowden’s head. The buck stops with him.

Look at ND

I know they have a lot more money than FSU but even they are doing the right thing and scrounging up a possible $18M buyout for their lump of shit. Why can’t we get the $1M to throw out our lump of shit?

Notre Dame is our biggest hope right now

If any of you believe if a loving God, pray they’re crazy enough to take on both Weis’ and Meyer’s buyouts and agree to the exemptions he asked for in 2005.

Why I added the part of them adding the exemptions for Meyer

It’s become obvious to everyone that ND is going to be nothing more than an overrated ghost unless they sell their souls, and if they decide to do that then Meyer will be there faster than Lundquist could say “Please spray it all over my face Tim”

~

LOL that was pretty funny. I can imagine him saying that in his terrible tv personality voice.

by JabaJiba on Nov 28, 2009 8:47 PM EST up reply actions

I think he could

He realizes that it will never be as good as it is right now at Florida starting next year. If he goes 10-2 at Florida every year the natives are calling for his head. If he goes 10-2 at ND every year he gets a statue built in his honor right next to Touchdown Jesus.

ND will offer Meyer the job. I think it’s at least a coin toss that Meyer accepts. If ND gives Meyer the no-questions-asked admissions he asked for in 2005 (he supposedly wanted two a year), then he bolts.

talent

I agree about the difference in talent. I keep reading that we have top 10 recruiting classes and then I see who we have on the field. It’s like I am watching two different
movies.

by ccloud5050 on Nov 28, 2009 8:39 PM EST reply actions

I’ve been saying it for years, coaching is more important than recruiting. FSU in the 2000s is a perfect example of this.

by 38Noles on Nov 28, 2009 8:40 PM EST up reply actions

There is a talent drop off

But not as big as the score indicates. It’s coaching. Period.

Ever wonder

how good players like Bert Reed and Greg Reid would be if they went to UF or even Tennessee? Greg is good but imo, no one is as talented AND reliable as Bert. I think BR takes full responsibility for himself on the field unlike any other seminole. If he were at Florida no one would know who Riley Cooper is because Bert Reed would be a Heisman condidate.

by JabaJiba on Nov 28, 2009 8:54 PM EST reply actions

I think you’re right. Bert stepped up big time this season. He went from a freshman that was suspended as often as not, to a sophomore that was looking for the ball in crunch time.

He completely took over the NC State game and is a big reason why we’re actually playing in a bowl.

by 38Noles on Nov 28, 2009 8:56 PM EST up reply actions

comment from ESPN story

And get this: Florida’s first four touchdowns came on plays where the ball carrier didn’t even get touched. Hernandez took a shovel pass on an option play — FSU looked like it had never even seen the play, which is one of Florida’s favorites — and went 18 yards without anyone touching him

Now there’s that defense we have come to respect and love.

by ccloud5050 on Nov 28, 2009 8:55 PM EST reply actions

defense

Did not even get touched. Where the hell were the 11 players on defense for crying out loud?

by ccloud5050 on Nov 28, 2009 8:56 PM EST reply actions

It’s like we’re trying to see how bad 11 college athletes can be.

With the exception of Mangum and Thacker, they are legitimate BCS players I would say, but with absolutely no coaching they look like a high school team.

by 38Noles on Nov 28, 2009 8:58 PM EST up reply actions

Sorry I’m not being clear. I’m saying with the exception of Mangum and Budd Thacker our defense is made up of legitimate BCS players.

question

How in the world are the Refs for inter-conference games scheduled? Florida had home field today and had SEC officials. Ga Tech tonight has home field against Ga and there are SEC refs. What’s up with that?

by ccloud5050 on Nov 28, 2009 9:00 PM EST reply actions

That is the fallout from the 2003 FSU/UF game. UF was obviously displeased the Jack Childress’ ACC crew that day and I think when they requested SEC officials be used from then on we were happy to oblige.

by 38Noles on Nov 28, 2009 9:01 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah

Until the 2003 game it ACC refs @ UF and SEC refs @FSU. Then 2003 happens when Childress’ crew shit the bed and now it’s ACC refs @FSU and SEC refs @UF.

Patrick Robinson
Bert Reed
Greg Reid

Want the formula for a good FSU player? Make sure they have a UF offer. So far Telvin Smith, Lamarcus Joyner, Darious Cummings, De’Joshua Johnson, Christian Jones, Jeff Luc, Christian Green.

I truly believe Bama is better than Florida. Will the SEC allow Tim Teblow to lose in his last season on his way to the NC game? I don’t know since he is a cash cow/whore. In all reality Bama is the bigger and more physical team that should win by a TD.
