The announcement

Comes tomorrow. Here's a story out of St. Pete:
http://www.wtsp.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=118942&provider=rss

A one hour meeting. Sounds like minds were made up. What will he announce? Will he and Ann leave for Lithuania? Although I don't think you can cruise there...

Has Meyer been on the phone begging him to stay? Is the scenario I laid out earlier about to come to pass or does HE realize that he is done?

Why wasn’t Jimbo at this meeting? Only BB, TK, and the AD….

not having jimbo is worrying me. Looks like this will be the same old story as last couple of years!

by DesiNole on Nov 30, 2009 1:34 PM EST up reply actions

I don't think Jimbo has much say in the matter anyways

From what I have read, all coaches are on the road recruiting.

by Noles93 on Nov 30, 2009 2:18 PM EST up reply actions

You might want to revise that statement to "some" coaches are on the road recruiting.

Mickey Andrew’s is getting ready to pick up the grandkids at school for the first time ever, rightfully and deservedly so.

Chuck Amato is shopping for some new shoes, shades, and a few fur lined man-bra’s that he will need in the colder area of North Alabama.

Jody Allen is carrying Amato’s shopping bags and pulling up Chuck’s corvette for him from the parking garage, and repeatedly asking Chuckie, "Are you gonna take me with you? Are you gonna take me with you?

Dexter might be looking for Jody to finish punching him out for his alleged racist and derogatory snide remarks behind his back.

You've got the Dexter/Jody thing flipped

It’s Jody that will get punched out by Dexter.

by ricobert1 on Nov 30, 2009 4:53 PM EST up reply actions

That's what I said, but probably not as clear as I meant to.
Dexter might be looking for Jody to finish punching him out

my knee jerk to JB not being there is a good thing. If I was Jimbo, I wouldn’t want to be in the meeting if they were getting rid of Bobby. Seems to me that if Jimbo were there it would signal “ok guys, here’s how everyone is going to work together and that’s why you’re each here.” Without Jimbo there sounds more like Bobby is done and they didn’t want the extreme awkwardness that would come from firing a guy with his successor in the room.

My two cents.

by Brandon B on Nov 30, 2009 1:37 PM EST reply actions

Maybe

He didn’t need to be there. Maybe Bowden is stepping down and there’s nothing to work out.

by mudra on Nov 30, 2009 1:43 PM EST reply actions

I dont think JF wants to hurt BB

I think he wants what is best for FSU. I dont think him and BB have gone behind eachothers back for this. JF has a sweet deal if things work out. Dont look to far into this because hes not there. He might be on the road trying to get these recrutis we need and thats more importen than pushing BB out more. Whats done is done and there is nothing anyone can do. If they want BB here he will stay if they want him gone then its will be done.

Well if Jimbo couldn't be there in person

I would at least want my agent to be there. Who know what kind of shenanigans Bobby and TK could pull by themselves…

LATEST NEWS FROM MY SOURCES

some people in the “know” believe that Bobby is going to quit tomorrow.

He’s going to make it look like it wasn’t his descision to try and make the university look like the bad guys.

by B-rod24 on Nov 30, 2009 1:54 PM EST reply actions

i dont either

it might be a bluff to get more hush money.

Maybe he’s so pissed that he’s not thinking logically and just wants to attack the university for “screwing him over”.

by B-rod24 on Nov 30, 2009 2:07 PM EST up reply actions

Call me stunned....

mess with Bobby’s ego or money and he will #$##$ all over FSU.

Being held hostage.

by noles55 on Nov 30, 2009 2:13 PM EST up reply actions

FSU could air out all of Bobby's dirty laundry...

and if they wanted to tarnish the legacy, they could

A)Rename the Field
2)Remove the Statue
D) Replace the stained glass window.

by jasonole59 on Nov 30, 2009 2:18 PM EST up reply actions

I'm just saying that FSU doesn't have to completely be the victim here...

I think the majority of the country would expect more from a person making 2.5million.

by jasonole59 on Nov 30, 2009 2:19 PM EST up reply actions

i disagree

people look at it like we’re s***ing on a legend.

by B-rod24 on Nov 30, 2009 2:22 PM EST up reply actions

you may be right...

but the media isn’t coming to Bowden’s rescue like they have before…

CBS announcers called us the JV unit and not able to compete.

one of the College Football live guys had us as the team in the worst shape (between FSU, Notre Dame, Michigan).

by jasonole59 on Nov 30, 2009 2:50 PM EST up reply actions

It isn’t his decision – the only people to whom the school will look like bad guys are the uneducated.

by CJS55 on Nov 30, 2009 1:57 PM EST reply actions

Boy, it that doesn't scare the daylights out of you.

And you thought Doak was empty for the N.C. State game.

by TRMNole on Nov 30, 2009 2:04 PM EST up reply actions

Bowden statement (between the lines)

What’s interesting is he has made the statement “I’d like to come back.” If it’s HIS decision… then this statement “like to” is unnecessary. That’s asking not telling. There would be no need for highly publicized meetings, etc. the decision to return at his own terms isn’t is – I think his two slip ups (Jimbo knows when I’m going to step down comment earlier from this year) & this statement makes me wonder a lot.

I also wonder if the calling for him to leave has did the opposite effect … Wanting him to make him stay longer and “fix it” so he doesn’t have a tarnished legacy in his mind. As though its a I don’t want to leave it in shambles before I go panic attitude.

I dont think Bobby’s a bad guy, I DO think he’s an egomanic (all quality coaches are Saban, Meyer, Carol) that’s part of the job. I think he’s hurt because he doesn’t want to be known as the guy who screwed it up at the end and feels that’s the way its going to be left and for the first time in a long time are attacking his character. And for someone who’s really loved being at FSU, gone through the process (being so close so many times … cough Miami FGS) and finally enjoyed success here (2 NCs) – that’s a hard deal.

I think were (fans, alumni) are hurt because he cant see, he’s just not going to be the one to fix it and his staying is exacerbating the problem. I love Bobby, like an older uncle or grandpa, but I’m not blind to see, there are people can simply do the job better now.

This is akin to deciding whether to put grandpa in a home or not – so its going to be ugly process just as it has been.

I think

he did the whole head coach in waiting thing in hopes of turning the program around in hopes of getting the credit, and maybe bide his time in waiting for the vacated wins thing to swing in his favor.

by Renegade_NOL3 on Nov 30, 2009 3:26 PM EST up reply actions

I agree w/ that. I think the idea going out as the one responsible for losing is what irks him the most.

I really believe the reason why Head Coach in waiting has worked for Texas is its in place while they’re winning & viable.

by FSU on Nov 30, 2009 3:54 PM EST up reply actions

Bowden didn't "do" the HCIW thing, he has pubicly stated he didn't agree with it...

That was TK/Boosters I think that put that together to keep JF from leaving and I’m assuming to hopefully get BB to retire by the 2011 season and hope it all worked out without getting ugly, which it unfortunately did.

Personally, I don’t really think what Texas’ is doing is really a HCIW thing, they just gave Muschamp a huge pay raise to $900K in hopes he won’t leave.

Mack still has 7 years left on his contract and may coach beyond that, and Muschamp has no buyout in his contract so he can leave any time he wants to without penalty; if has the patience to wait that many years I guess you could call the plan successful at that point.

by karmanole on Dec 3, 2009 10:59 AM EST up reply actions

So...

Once all this disfunctionality is done what is the total coaches budget for FSU Football? and when can we expect to have 100% of that money to going to competent and accountable coaches?
Instead of the leaches.
Does anyone know the total amount of money involved for buying out the inept and unaccountable? JB still has a few years left on his buy out right. How long will they be paying BB and what will be the situation for JA and CtC? Or does the buyouts/payoffs affect the coaching budget at all?

Unconquered GO NOLES !

by Renegade_NOL3 on Nov 30, 2009 3:22 PM EST reply actions

yeah

I just didn’t remember for how long on JB. I am just wondering if these IOU’s are going to affect the Coaches salary budget.

Jeff’s money was booster raised and so will Bobby’s, will not affect payroll

Jody and Charlie Tits will receive absolutely nothing.

Its official he's gone

ESPN is reporting on its bottom ticker that Bowden is announcing “his retirement” tomorrow. So it looks like you guys get your wish. Bowden is done. Will he coach the bowl game?

There was a firefight!!!!
