FSU's New Uniforms (one game only)
Do you like them? I have to say that I do.
Also, color is identical to current FSU uniforms. It's just that the lighting the pictures were shot under was off.

Love 'em
All of the gear looks fantastic. Would love to get my hands on a jersey or one of those black helmets.

I like the jerseys except for the gold stuff on the shoulder pads. Looks like a spirograph.
The pants are ok. The feather on the side looks like a bit much but I can deal.
The helmets are growing on me. I love how the part of the spear that is usually white has a bit of a gold tint.
The gloves that form the Seminole head when the hands are together are awesome.
Glad these are just for one game though, we have great uniforms.

They should just use garnet threading for the shoulders
Not a fan of the gold either. And they could be used in the future.

Let me clarify...
The jersey may not be well represented, but it looks more red than Garnet.
It’s all a bit too cartoonish/video gamish to me, like the Adrian Peterson commercial.
If we were going to change, why not a throwback?

Sorry I keep going back to review...
I’ve never really been a big fan of the feathers on the Basketball unis, so I can’t say I’m really feeling it hear either.
Maybe I’m too traditional here, but I don’t see anybody trying to screw with Notre Dame, Bama, or USC’s uniforms, and it looks like we’re going the way of Oregon, or VT.

It's not just for one game
The article said they could be used at the school’s discretion after Nov. 21. Maybe save it for rain games, since it’s “technology” is most effective in rainy conditions.
I agree the garnet looks off, but it’s probably the camera (hopefully). Are we the first to wear these in an official game? Is Oregon wearing them on Nov. 21?

Not feeling them
Hate the white pants because of that black box on the thighs. Hate black helmets. Our domes should always be gold. The gold in the jerseys is too understated, almost not showing up at all IMO. The feathers on the pants look like something a kid would put on his custom created team in Madden.
by osceolafan850 on Nov 5, 2009 3:29 PM EST reply actions 0 recs

Read teh disriptions...
Its a shell for the padding cells on the thigh as the thighs are the most impacted part of the body in football. Giving the thighs added protection above the padding cells alone and considerable more protection then current thigh pads.

If we whip UMD 60-0
Well, first of all that would only happen in an alternate reality where we play defense. Nevertheless, IF we destroy UMD i think these new unis will get a warmer reception. I believe someone mentioned the Falcons? Thats what i see.

Halftime Show?
I’m wondering what the halftime show is like.
I’m also wondering if they’d be willing to come play a few snaps for an FSU halftime show—you know like the pop warner kids that come out at the Champs Bowl. It just might get some fans back in the stands.

another indication of how far we've fallen
big time college football programs don’t do this. As someone else mentioned….looks like arena league. why do you think Oregon can’t get over the hump? It’s those uniforms. And I know the arguments for it. Yes, this is the entertainment industry. and Nike is paying us something. and young kids think it’s cool. But I think that you ultimately turn off the older fans by tacitly admitting we need gimmicks to be competitive.

It is an advancement in technology and Nike has allowed us to be on the cutting edge along with 9 other universities.
Just for a moment forget about the colors, the feathers, or the design and focus on the technological breakthrough. The colors, the feathers, and the design can all be changed eventually. It’s the technology that we need to evaluate and and we are a beta site for what could eventually become the future NCAA material standard.

I don't buy the superstition over uniforms holding a team back.
I have a hard time making the correlation between performance and the color or style of uniform. Hell Tennessee played in black practice jerseys on Halloween and had an out of body experience performance wise. The gimmicks and uniform changes are completely profit driven and have no bearing on whether or not we’ll play better or think we’ll play better. I’m sure Bill’s will have t-shirts or something. Seminoles.com will have some type of auction bidding off game worn or replica equipment from the special edition uniform, much money will be made from this and Nike will continue to support our program in the future. Personally I’m indifferent and seriously don’t believe this is a bad thing in any way shape or form. But like I said, that’s just me.

If you hadn’t spent the last decade of your life brainwashing Nole fans, FSU wouldn’t have to do bull**** like this.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m just taking a shot at that putz (if you can believe it). I couldn’t care less (we need to win in any form of dress), though I will say I hope we don’t permanently stray from a design that just happens to already be the best-looking uniform in college football. Please no spiderwebs and feathers on a permanent basis. Agree with others that this may have been a blown opportunity at a retro look. As I say though, not losing sleep either way. I hope the kids/recruits like them. Whatever they want is fine with me.

The Helmet is nice, Not used to seeing us play in a helmet that isn’t gold but we’ll see how that goes. Also interesting that the facemask is black and not garnet or gold.
I like the fact that we’re in all garnet. with everything else being an accent color. The basic scheme of the uniform is garnet and black.
The cleats are also sick. Obviously there isn’t much gold to be found in the uniform whatsoever.
Overall I think this looks good and we should be happy to be selected out of 9 universities. And new Nike technology is a BIG BIG deal, they spend millions each year in research and development, this shouldn’t be taken lightly. Our players, in this throwaway of a season will be some of the first players to ever wear use this technology in a game and it could very well revolutionize the equipment used in CFB as Frank D alluded to above.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not
But honestly yes, it just might.

no, I really thought it might...I'm sure the kids will like this, and
hopefully the coaches can use it, “we’re one of only 9 schools that Nike wanted to do this”…apparently some say the Nike sponsorship is a big deal compared to others? I don’t know.

Yeah Nike helps although Under Armour has made huge strides in recent years.
Nike is still considered the best of the best and has the strongest brand out of any athletic apparel company. This gives us a little extra to mention. I’ve heard its all Oregon talks about at all lol. Although if ever there were a University that overdoes uniforms . . . oregon is it.

We have some of the best colors in Sports
I mean—you clearly can tell its a woman’s college
So with that being said—why do they always f*ck up the uniform for “special uniform day”
Like, why weren’t we wearing the Black Helmets with THE BLACK JERSERY’s?
I’ve really enjoyed the uni’s that came with the field update—and I think that the black jersey’s were outstanding; Its just, know when to use the black helmet; f*ck—even bring in a garnet helmet…
Just stop messing up the color combo’s on “Nike makes bank” games

I read elsewhere that the color is indeed garnet, are identical to our present garnet jerseys, and the reason they look red is due to improper lighting.

No thanks!
We already have the best jerseys in college football, no need to change them. If they have to wear them for one game, fine whatever … but getting rid of our real unis would suck beyond all known forms of suckage.

Greg Dent, a bunch of JuCo DL.
More visits will pop up probably.

Didn't LaGarrette Blount
Say that one of the reasons he dropped FSU was because of our jerseys? Really??? And signed with Oregon?
by CSI Nole on Nov 5, 2009 6:08 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Yes
I do remember hearing that was part of is reasoning for choosing Oregon over FSU. Wouldn’t say it was the main reason but I guess it was a factor.
by fsucj2431 on Nov 5, 2009 9:02 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
He may have said that but there were some other reasons.
I remember hearing that he really wanted to return kickoffs, and we weren’t willing to promise that. Also, he was supposedly worried about competition from Pressley.
by nolesblogger on Nov 5, 2009 9:17 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I wasn't saying it was the only reason
But to talk about our uni’s and then sign with Oregon? LOL
by CSI Nole on Nov 5, 2009 9:18 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Tons of kids love those Oregon jerseys.
It is kind of cool that you can play in every game for 4 years and never wear the same uni combination more than once. But it would be a whole lot cooler if the different combinations didn’t look like crap.

What about tradition?
Im not against doing something different every now and again with our jerseys, even though we never seem to do well, but i sincerely hope that these dont become our new uniforms. You never see schools with steeped tradition where the uniforms are changed. USC, Mich, ND, Nebraska, Okla, Texas! All of these schools wouldn dream of changing their beloved uniforms. It represents them, and where they have been and doesnt need to change. Our Colors and Uni’s are just as classic and recognizable, and represent the tradition in our program. Change the coaching staff (JA,CTC), not our Uni’s.
But, Im down for one or two games, but not permanently and btw, the gloves, helmet, and cleats are so sick! and Im happy to see all garnet again, its one of my all-time favorite FSU jersey combos.

Not sure if the design will stay, but get used to the new uniform types

I like
The gloves are sweet, cleats and I always like the feather down the pants especially the baseketball shorts. Black helmet might will grow on me, still think the Golden dome with spear is the best in Football. The under garments dont bother me and he did say the camera and lighting messed with the colors so we will have to wait until gameday to see what they really look like
by KnightNoles on Nov 5, 2009 7:04 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Not bad
A little too much black. I like the pants. Recruits like this sort of thing so I’m not sure why anyone would have a problem with it. It’s only one game.

According to Florida State officials, these limited edition uniforms will be used at the discretion of the Seminoles’ football program after November 21.

As long as we don't go full on Oregon I'm okay with it.
I’d also like to see us sport a throwback uni/helmet. Some of those 70’s helmets were pretty cool, especially the one with the outline of the state of Florida with “STATE” written inside.
by Dent Street Nole on Nov 5, 2009 7:35 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
Like it.
I like the all garnet look, and I actually like the feather (like it on the B-ball unis, too). I don’t like the black helmet, though I like the idea behind it (to honor Osceola, whose name literally translates “Black Drink Singer”), but I think it would have been cooler to use a garnet helmet to go with the all-garnet uni … just as long as they kept the spear.
I wouldn’t mind a new uni once Bobby leaves. When did we start using our current uni? Did it come with Bobby? It’s not like we’ve been using our current uni for 100 years like some of the older football programs. This uni seems to well thought out, and isn’t just a bunch of random lines and shapes like most of the new unis … except for the weird gold threading on the shoulders. We can do without that.

Our uniforms
Have had minor changes throughout Bowden’s tenure. One thing I can think of is the detail around the neck on the jersey and the sleeves. Also the Nike logo location has changed. Most of the rest of the uniform has remained unchanged. We have used the same helmet design since 1976. Here’s all of the helmets we have had and the story behind them.

I like
Black uniforms and Gold Helments. I also like the gold pants, garnet jerseys and gold helmets. I’m not too sure I like the all garnet thing. I don’t like the feathers too much either. Tomahawks and Spears—yes. Feathers, maybe for the cheerleaders. I like the gloves and shoes.
What I really want to know is if Dustin Hopkins will get a special pair of new gold-colored shoes.
by NoleLaw on Nov 5, 2009 8:16 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I mostly like them, but there's a huge asterisk next to them if the color looks more red than garnet...
in these photos, they sure as hell look like the wrong red. And the gold isn’t exactly right either. Not sure how the photos- clearly professionally shot- plus the mock-up comp of the uniform on the player, could both be so off.
Not a fan of the black helmets. I think our garnet & gold colors, when done right, are some of the sharpest in college football. But black isn’t one of our main colors and it takes away from the G&G. And I don’t really like it featured so dominantly on our helmet… If it was a once a year thing, cool. But otherwise, not a fan.

i like it for the most part
i love our normal jerseys from a life long fan stand point, but for a one game, change of look type thing i like, the helmet is nice black is always cool, the gloves and cleats are flashy so the players will like that, and i love the feather on the pants, our basketball shorts are the coolest out there imo because of the feather, so i like that, the only thing im “ehh” about is the gold on the shoulders, its kinda pointless looking.
what i like more though is a win, so as long as that comes, then wear whatever haha.

Old people who are afraid of change will hate these...
…but I LOVE them!
True, there is nothing wrong with our current uniform and those will not disappear because of this, but I like a little change of pace. They have a neat futuristic appeal to them and players/recruits will like it.
Oh, and those gloves are hands-down (no pun intended) the coolest that I’ve ever seen. I wish that I wore gloves just so that I could buy some of those :o)

I like the new uniform system
It if can improve our performance, especially in rain, I’m all for them. I would have rather kept a gold helmet, but if they wanted to be different, I would have like a white helmet. The gloves are awesome. I think our WRs should wear these all the time…

belongs on the couch pillows in my grandmother’s living room and the cleats are straight out of Dorothy’s Wizard of Oz closet. The helmet’s tough though.
