FSU, happy thoughts and moving forward.
Recently there has not been much if any good news of or relating to Florida State football. One of the few bright spots was the outstanding play of Christian Ponder. His passion and toughness trickled down to the rest of the team and in my opinnion elevated the play of the whole offense, specifically his receivers. The wide outs saw how their QB was willing to put it on the line and in turn they themselves did the same, something WRs at FSU have not done for their QB in years.
With the no doubt devastating loss of the team leader, my question is not why will we lose the next two games, but how can we win the next two games? Being what some may call overly optimistic I am curious as to what the rest of Tomahawk Nation thinks are the keys to winning the next two games.
Go Noles.

Sorry, the ultimate low point will be losing to USF
regardless of what happens in the final 3 regular season games (added the qualifier in the unlikely event we make a bowl game).
I'll play
Against Wake, we have to hope for unforced errors from them, a big special teams play from us, and conservative offense from us that eats the clock and hits one or two decent big plays.
By the way… Clemson became the 8th team to post their best offensive game against the Noles:
Maryland? Honestly, I don’t think much of them. A regular game plan can work. But will the team have quit by them? I suspect we have to run EJ less against Maryland
Great stuff cens.
I am holding out hope that the defense has at least 1, only 1, solid game in them. We need that this weekend since Wake has the better O over Maryland.
Speed is a great asset; but it's greater when it's combined with quickness - and there's a big difference.

how to win the next 2 games I have an idea
I still think we go back to last years play book. Back to short passes like Bubbles, slants, outs, flat/flars, and Screens screens and more screens. As for running plays we use our formations more than the plays themselfs.
Pony, Pistal, Shot norm, I dont want to see EJ under center at all. With most of our formations the running plays are the same other than pony. We run Zone reads, Options, Draws, Sweep/Tosses, and ISO.
Now our key I think is we need to find a way to make the pony work. We have a fast QB with legs and 2 RB no FB. We have to throw screens, Bubbles and slants when the other team stacks the box and option, zone reads when they dont. I think WF and MD will stack the box because they dont respect EJ because no one knows him yet. Ej is going to have to tuck and run a lost to start off to get the Def to key more on him and less off the RB. Best option to start is a trip where the FB(Pryor or JT) take/fake the Handoff and EJ and the RB (JT or Jones) option out. Then run the Sweeps where he can hand it off unless the DE crashes where he can keep it and go.

Des you absolutely nailed it.
With perhaps some play-action from the run game. Go back to last year plan!

Des, with this game plan in mind do you think we win or just keep it close?
I know you want us to win, so do I, I am just wondering what your scoreline would be?
I think we can win ever game other than the UF game.
I have thought all year we can win every game because our Offense is very good. We could just out score everyone like the big 12 teams do. All we need is to get our Def to make at least 1 or 2 stops. We can score on every drive vs Maryland. As for WF they might be tougher. I still think our Offense is better than there Def and we should score on most drives. If we can stop them at least 2 time we could win.
This is the game we have been playing all year. trying to out score the other team and keeping ahead of them. We get the ball, we control the ball, and we score with the ball. We might not have ponder to make all the great throws but EJ does have his feet and could run. Also this plan worked for the most part last year with a very young o-line. Now add a year and much better pass pro and throw a EJ in there and you will see what didnt happen last year. Ponder had to run and throw because he didnt have time. EJ should have more time and that will help him out more.
Lets look at this. Last year Ponder had to run out of pocket almost every time or had a moving pocket. all because he never good pass pro. We did very well with this for the most part. EJ now is in the same place. and the O-line knows this but they can block better. again last year what did we run. If a CB was on the line with the CB the check was to a slant. If they were off bubble. If they had a nickle package the check was to the zone read/option. Its the same thing as this year for the most part but last year the bubble and zone read were plays sent in where this year they are only checks. Also this year we are running more complex reverses. Expect to see some but not as crazy. We will see less TE down field because EJ will go to WR1, WR2/RB, then run untell he gets a feel for the passing system. Also with the TE in blocking thats more people in the box so better chances the bubble will be open.
Yes I think we can win the next 2 games. But it will rest on the Def as has every game. They will get stomped on and ran all over. but if they can at least stop them 2 or 3 times we win. Thats all we have needed from them all season is not to stop the other team but to slow them down just enought. Best example BYU, Miami, and GT. BYU they did it. they slowed them down and even got some momentem. Miami and GT they slowed them down if they got one more stop we would have won. If our Def could have stoped most of the teams 1 time mroe we would be looking at a 7-2 or 8-1 season.

You make us all hope for the best
I just think our offense will not be as ‘fine tuned’ and efficient with Ponder absent.
We can score on every drive vs Maryland
I do not think this will happen (1) Maryland’s D still ranks it the top half (B) there is no way you can expect EJ to execute this offense the same way Ponder did with zero prior experience (iii) our defense will continue to put our offense in bad spots.
I can expect the o-line to block just the same
I can expect JT and other running backs to get there yards, and I expect Bret not to fumble or get a TFL, I expect Goodman to catch the ball, EJ is the only new factor and I expect JF to to call plays that are for him just like he did with ponder last year. Thats what I expect.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
And I will bet that ponder will be with EJ helping him 100% because
he wants what is best for the team.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
That is an enormous 'new factor'
You write it off like there is going to be no learning curve for EJ.
I'm just thinking that Saturday will more closely resemble Ponder against VT
Rather than Ponder last year. I don’t think he’ll have a running game to help him because I think Wake will have 8 men in the box all day. It will be his first start and he’ll feel the pressure to score on every single drive because he knows the defense won’t stop anybody. I’m expecting a tough first day.
>>---l>
They would have to be smoking crack to put 8 in the box all day.
That would mean they are running man with a S on a WR(easterling and Reed) Let them in open space on a bubble and we know what they can do. Bring up the DB on the slot WR and goodman has space for the slant.
Also EJ has been running the scout team when we play teams with a running QB like GT and NCST where he runs the option. If they dont stack the box hes could have a field day. Jimbo will call plays to make WF respect the short passes and run. If they do anything I think it will bring the DBs closer to the line because JF prob wont want to try long balls with EJ in the first game.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
I bet they do it
They’re going to make EJ beat them. Load the box, bring the safeties down. They know that guys like Bert and Taiwan will get open, but can EJ hit them? He’ll be pressing because of the pressure to score on every single drive with this defense. Ponder would eat them alive if they did this, but EJ? I’m doubting it.
>>---l>
well someone has faith in him because at this moment this is FSU QB
If JF didnt have faith that he could play he wouldnt be here. Is he ready wont know tell Sat. Will get be good enough Again wont know tell Sat. Do I want him to suceed hell ya. Do I have faith yes because he has what everyone else has raw talent. There is a reason he was the #1 rated QB in HS in 2008. I think its about time we all find out.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
But doesn't that assume
that Ej can throw the bubble and has any timing with our wideouts?
I bet Wake runs a lot of 8-man box with cover-3.
When ponder was told he had brused ribs dont you think JF would have strated
then to get EJ ready if not sooner. Ponder is the key to make the offense go and being a running QB thats a big deal. JF Im sure has had EJ running a watered down version of ponders plays. JF is a lot smarter thank most think. He is going to use his players the best way he can to get the most ot of them.
If they run 8 in the box and play a cover-3 wouldnt we send in 4 Wr to make them check out. If they didnt you have the SS tell us which side he wants us to throw the Bubble to. Have easterling and Reed as the Slot and Throw to the side the SS isnt on. Can he make the throw I would say yes. Other teams us this play just like we do. and Im sure hes getting plenty of reps this week(might be in the gym but hes getting them,.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
How do you know he can make the throw?
What evidence do we/you have?
I am sure he can do it all day in practice against the second stringers of a defense who is ranked #98 in the nation. Doing that against defenses that are far better than our first stringers is a totally different animal.
I dont know he can make it but
The bubble is one of the base checks we have at the line. Its not a play we call in the huddle its called at the line. Im sure he has been working with it sence hes been here at FSU. Also Ponder has been throwing it on the Second stringers too so I can buy into that. Last I think the slant to the outside WR will be the better play to check to if and when they throw 8 in the box because he will look a lot like his cracking down and the slot guy will flear out. WF I think will try to jump the bubble at first because they dont know if he can make the pass too.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
Not sure what results to expect.....
But i’d bet Fisher will mix in a few long balls. I’d bet almost anything.
agreed. 10 beautiful plays surrounded by one or two gut punching dissapointments.
Fisher will have to REALLY work hard to set up this Defens for EJ. and when he’s focused he can pull a rabbit out of the hat.
Yeah, right!
Just remember, folks
We beat the Gators with a “rooster” (and were 8 points from a national title.) EJ doesn’t have to be The Man, just a man who believes.
Im just saying Ponder is the man but Football is a team sport
Ponder was the leader but if you think that the o-line, RB and WR are going to let him down think again. This offense is going to fight win lose or draw tell the end. We can lose out this year and they will still go down fighting. I have faith yes but isnt that what a fan do. I know its going to be hard and the odds are stacked but what else do we have to lose. we have lost good recruits, to many games, and respect as the powerhouse of the ACC. What else is left to lose. Im not going to throw it in and just wait tell next year. Nextlvl might have been crazy about his bold predictions but one thing he had faith and he loves his team. So do I. Its time to find out how good of a coach JF is when he has hois back to the wall, a leader that has never lead and CTC on the other side trying to be a pimp.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
Bravo
There’s a fine line between keeping it real and keeping a positive outlook. I’m more pumped for this game than any this season. I’m sure this team feels the same. Hopefully they’re reading all that the Debbie Downers have to say. They need that chip on their shoulder. I was there during the Larry Johnson years and Darrell Mudra coaching from the booth. There’s something about those times that should make a fan or player appreciate being the underdog. I would love to see a Larry Key or Gary Huff show up some time this week to remind them of those times and to let them know that they have yet to give their best. Not that the expectation is failure.
Larry Key or Gary Huff ?
I am 28 years old and those guys are irrelevant to me, just imagine what a 19 year old would think.
The last thing this team needs is more older people telling them what needs to be done.
Tomahawk Nation: Top 10 NCAA Football Blog
Irrelevant?
Those guys help define FSU’s football legacy, and isn’t all of the consternation and shame generated by this programs under-performance over the past 8-9 years related to the fact that we are not living up to the legacy established by Larry Key, Gary Huff and a plethora of other “old guys”? Gary Huff was before my time, but I was at FSU when Larry Key was “totin the rock”. Gary Huff and players like Steve Tensi and Fred Belitnikoff (sp?) represent FSU’s first run at greatness and respectability, and Larry Key represents an era of over-achievers during Bowdens early years at FSU, when he was re-building the program and actually coached the players, something we haven’t seen in a long time. I believe the point to be taken is that these guys represent the years before the dynasty, when we were building/re-building and not very highly respected, i.e. similar to our present situation. So no, I don’t think players from yesteryear are at all irrelevent, any more than Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Micky Mantle or Don Mattingly are irrelevent to the NY Yankees. Never forget our history or legacy, it’s more important than you might think, perhaps something more apparent to us “old guys” but true none the less.
Well sadi kanole.

His point, that I agree with
Is that our current players don’t know who those guys are. They don’t. It doesn’t mean they’re irrelevant to our fanbase and to our program, but our current players don’t have any idea who they are. So a motivational speech from them wouldn’t have the effect you’re thinking it might.
>>---l>
they might relate better is Winnke or Dunn came down to chat.
But Im not a fan of pep talks like this. I like go to work get it done and have fun doing it. Having someone come in and talk about when they were here to me would be like sitting in a bar with a Vet and talking to them about the war. Its great to hear it but sometimes you have other things that make what they are saying seem anoying. I think we just need to show support and let them know we love them win lose or draw. This is still FSU the school we all love. There are probelms but they are past the players.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
I see the correlation you are trying to make with the Yankees and Noles
But I don’t think it really works here. You can’t compare 3 of the greatest baseball players of all time with 2 guys that played college football for a program with what at the time had little success.
Kids now a days want flashy, outspoken successful players who succeeded at the next level. (i.e Deion or L.T., UNC).
Tomahawk Nation: Top 10 NCAA Football Blog
Maybe they should!
Maybe the current age players should learn something about the history of the program once they commit. Maybe understanding the pride that used to be part of wearing the spear on their helmets is something the coaches should promote. I would think that if a player from FSU glory days or yore was introduced as such to our current crop they would listen up with respect, even if they had never heard of them before. Or…maybe not.
I would much rather them learn how to play football at the same level of UF, Texas, USC
Tomahawk Nation: Top 10 NCAA Football Blog
Of course...
I want to see a new coaching paradigm at FSU, especially on the defense where it would be nice to see players that have been taught how to tackle, are taught viable defensive schemes and the discipline to stay in scheme (the offense is already there IMO). My point is that a healthy sense of pride and esprit de corp can go a long way. But you are correct, they need to learn to block and tackle at a consistantly high level first.
but thats not going to happen with the coaches we have right now at least not on Def.
I beleave with all my heart that we have a great Team that can get it done. I think the players can do a lot more than what they are. Its not them that is the problem, its the coaching and the sceam we are running. Im not talking about the Offense at all Im only talking about the Def. Look at the rankings of the Def players. I dont know what they are but there are players rated highter on Def (*) than Offense but because the way JF, Coley, and Trickett coach them they are better players. How good would FSU’s Def be if Trickett, Coley, and JF were Def coaches and MA, CTC, and Allen were offense coaches. I bet the Def would be hard for any school in the nation to score on. Thats what I see the problem is.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
Agreed
We need a complete coaching change on defense, starting with a new DC chosen by JF who will then bring in the people he wants. This is clearly the priority. Core talent is there on defense and a hot new, young coaching staff will ensure future top recruits. Further, I believe, along with teaching blocking and tackling and Xs and Os an “esprit de corp” will likely be a natural outgrowth of the confidence the players will have knowing that can once more kick serious ass and enforece “fear the spear”. Right now the defense is lost and has no confidence at all. I seriously doubt if, in their hearts, they feel like they are prepared game to game to stop anyone.
you know what is scary about Jimbo
What if he goes out and gets a DC that is like him, a great coach and OC, a great recruiter, and gets great coaches like Trickett and Coley to work with. Add 2 more all around cool coachs and they turn our Def into something like what our Offense is right now. What would happen to college football. 1: the ACC would be back in order with FSU on top where we belong. UF can kiss our @$$, and Doak would be a party where the warchant would be heard all the way to PC beach.
Best part is that this could all still come true. This season might be almost over but we have 2 very good things to look foward to. Or Offense rocks and will be better next year. and I have to beleave who ever comes in will do better with the Def because they cant do worst.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
Desman, you're preaching to the choir!
I’ve been saying forever that FSU has all the right ingredients to DOMINATE once again. Its nice to not only know that other people think it, but will go out on a limb and say it! Go NOLES!!!!!!!
Agree in principle only problem is the steps are still mirky at best
1. get rid of Bowden.
2. Get a VERY HIGH level DC in here. (Fisher is VERY GOOD his equal will be difficult to lure to what has become a real cess pool (sess??)
3. Get recruiting fixed ASAP and turn in a top 20 class (very optomistic)
one: I’m not certain of Bowden and anything other than a clean break at this point is a gross underacheivment which will turn off quallity DC’s and recruits for at least one more class
two: I’m not sure with the media poop storm that will only get worse how attractive we are to the truly elite candidates a qualilty xo guy and surround him with recruiters is a plausible best case senario though I’m crossing my fingers for more.
three: If we don’t hit on both of these first two there is know way we finish better than 40th….40th! Ouch.
Yeah, right!
Depression
Reading the posts of the “Debbie Downers” can make you feel depressed.
Des, love your optimism and outlook.
With EJ, we can expect the worst and hope for the best. I don’t think we’ll get anything close to the worst b/c we have a top recruit who was selected and is coached by Jimbo. A lot of the passing game depends on timing, which is where EJ may be weak. With 8 in the box, my biggest fear is probably how many pick sixes Wake will get on the short throws. If EJ gets picked off on a bomb, it’s as good as a punt. He’s a big kid with a strong arm. I’m looking for Jimbo to have him send a couple of shots down the field. We’ll have to wait until Sat. to see how it goes. Other than the timing with the receivers on the short routes, I don’t have any reason to believe that EJ can’t play as well as Jacory Harris. The other thing is, Wake will have trouble preparing for whatever conconction Jimbo is brewing up for the O. So maybe we can catch them off-guard and surprise them.
Some think it is too much to ask the O to score every time it has the ball. I think if Jimbo’s offense is properly executed, the O is unstoppable and should score every time. I don’t expect that it will, but it is not too much to ask that every player execute every play properly all the time. That is the standard of discipline and excellence that great teams have. Our offense is a really good one, striving for greatness.
Oklahoma lost a little when Sam Bradford went out, but not as much as people might have expected. they still gave Miami a run for the money. The naysayers will point out that the Noles do not have the same defense as OU and good defense will keep any offense in the game. My point is that if OU went from Bradford to total crap, they would not have nearly beaten Miami in Land Shark staduim; OU would’ve been blown out. Likewise, I do not believe that the dropoff from Ponder to EJ will be from greatness to crap. Thus, I still think the offense will keep us competitive against Wake and Maryland. If the games are close, we can win.
Expectations are so low that our kids don’t have anything to lose. There’s no pressure on them, so they might as well have fun (except for Mangum—he should ride the pine). They’ve been playing under pressure all season. Maybe Ponder’s injury is enough to release the steam from that pressure cooker. I don’t expect it, but maybe the D will man up and play better now that they know they can’t just rely on Ponder to win the games. Maybe they play with a little more instrinct and listen a little less to what their poor coaches are telling them to do.
And what the hell “cess pool” are you talking about? There might have been some stinkers between this year’s offensive and defensive coaches, but that is not a cess pool that will exist when the new DC comes. With the new DC, there should be nothing but cheer, dancing in the streets, and an all around celebration going on in Tallahassee. The buzz and the focus going into next year will be around the new DC and how he changes a cellar defense that was coached by one of the all-time great coordinators (Mickey Andrews) into a top-ranked defense. Naturally, there will also be some buzz about how effective Ponder will be returning from his injury. The only stinker that might be left is one more year of Bobby Bowden, but that is not a cess pool. And I think we can squeeze that one out.
Regardless, Bowden is irrelevant at this point. If we had a great DC and Jimbo putting a winning team on the field, no one would care about Bowden. All of the talk would be about the greatness of the coordinators. Bowden just needs to have some more Alzheimer’s press conferences to continue showing the world who is responsible for any on-field success at this point. After that is up, FSU just says, sorry Bobby, we promised the job to Jimbo and we no longer need your services. There’s no media cry or scandal, no opportunity to insinuate fair-weather and disloyal fans. No hype, no drama, no cess pool—even if BB stays one more year.
We’ve taken our hits this year due to Mickey’s family situation, Bobby’s dimentia, Chuck’s ignorance and stinkerism, and some missed plays at critical times in the final minutes of ball games. The difference between what we currently have and a respectable winning season isn’t that great. Even if we made some of the critical plays, I don’t know how respectable the season would be even if we were 7-2 because the D is playing so bad and Nole fans are not used to seeing anything like what we are putting on the field. With the potential that is there and the celebrating that will welcome in the new DC, I take offense at characterizing the FSU program as a cess pool to come to.
Not sure I follow your logic comparing our situation with OUs
Our D cannot keep us in games, OU was not blown out in Miami because of their defense. In this case the naysayers are right.
As for the rest of your post it is appreciated. I wrote the fan post to get positive discussion going about how we can win the next two games, no matter how outlandish that may seem. Thanks looking at the class half full.
Speed is a great asset; but it's greater when it's combined with quickness - and there's a big difference.

a few things
First thanks, As for people thinking our Offense should score every time I feel thats something Trickett has worked into his o-line. He expects them to score ans so they do for the most part. I dont think they will score every time but they should score at least 75% if not more.
About EJ going down field I think we will do that too. If JF goes back to the offense of last year with watered down plays the reason ponder could go down field was because he didnt have the time. EJ should get more time unless there are 8 in the box like some people think there will. I feel he will take shots I would.
EJ is not Ponder, I dont think hes going to make all the right checks at the line but I do think he will make what he thinks is best and Im ok with that. He has a great mentor and coach that will help him before during and after the game.
I think the Cess pool is more about the lvl the guys are playing at and the coaches they have. I dont think they are talking about the players themselfs other than Mangum
We do have a great team and we are only a few plays away from some games but thats football. People that think its the team as a whole should be shot. Our Offense has carried this season on them all year and nothing is going to change for the next 3 games. But lets say the Def made these stops and we won some of these game. Who would fans say gets the credit how would the midea take this and would we still diserve to be a ranked team. I love FSU but the year has shown everyone the truth that TN has been saying for over a year now. The time for change has come. If someone would have heard us last year where could we have been now. Im betting looking at the ACCCG and maybe a lot more.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
I can't agree with you there Des.
I dont think they will score every time but they should score at least 75% if not more.
FSU has had 103 offensive possessions (minus clock kills at the end of a half) and have scored 41 times which is roughly 40%. Of those 41 scores FSU has scored 29 TD (~70%) to 12 FG (~30%). Remember that was all done with an experienced Ponder.
Wake has a Top 40 defense, 27 points against them would be an offensive success but not enough for a win, IMO
Tomahawk Nation: Top 10 NCAA Football Blog
The "cess pool" is the stain and public laughing stock that we are becoming with every passing week that Bowden is still on staff making stupid comments and looming over the team like a cloud from Mordor in Lord of the Rings.
Our attractiveness to coaches is still name value, recruiting potential, etc. but truly elite coaches aren’t going to want to risk the guilt by association (or ridiculous by association) name tag that we are wearing right now.
It can change, but this admin is running it into the ground, and if Bowden isn’t coming back then they need to get that settled behind closed doors NOW and tell him to keep his trap shut until retirement.
I for one think things can still get a bit better or much much worse depending on the next two months. And I have zero trust in our administration of late.
Yeah, right!
I respectfully disagree in the downward spiral theory.
I don’t think that good coaches will avoid FSU because of the current crap on the defensive sideline and BB’s dimentia interviews. It seems like the theory goes … we have crap with BB and with a bunch of stinkers on defense. A couple years ago, we had crap with BB & JB and crap on offense. Still Mr. Fisher came to Tallahassee. And he brought in an aroma of fresh air on the offensive side of the ball. Trickett came too. We had crap and we got the best. We can do that on the defensive side of the ball now too.
If I were to believe that we couldn’t get a good DC b/c we currently have crap, then we wouldn’t get good D recruits b/c we have crap and a crappy new DC, then the D would get even worse than it is. Is that even possible? As the old country song goes, “When you hit rock bottom, you’ve got two ways to go: Straight up and Sideways.” I don’t see us going sideways. If that were the case, we’d just promote Chuck to DC. Not happenin’. There is no secret that BB has at most one more year. If he stays, that’s almost like a one year free pass for a new DC to start rebuilding and recruiting. It’s a softball. A warm-up lap. And if he can get the D to around #50, with Ponder and the rest of the offense returning, the new DC could be looking at FSU going from a losing record to a BCS bowl. If BB and Fisher stay where we are now, how much of that credit do you think will go to the new DC? And for fielding a mediocre defense? Then he’s got a great product to sell to new recruits and in 2 years, wallah, FSU has EJ’s cannon firing, a top 20 defense, and a return to the dynasty days.
Thats what I think. Though we can still fall some more I dont think it will happen
As long as JF gets the DC he wants. We get a DC that gets us from 103 in the nation to 50-60 we could have won every game this year so far. Our best Def is the Offense because they have keep us in the game every game tell the 4th Qrd. Also There is so much talent on Def right now too, so the next DC isnt walking in like JF did. JF had nothing on Offense. We had Weatherfor, Smith, and Carr and PP. compair Ponder, JT, Reed, and easterling/Goodman to those guys. My point the DC has Reid, Harley, Bradham, McAllister, McDaniel, Demps, and a few others that he gets to play with. The next DC JF is trying to set up for sucsess. What would an Avg DC do with these players. Then what would a good DC do with these same kids. We think (hope) we make a huge jump next year to get back around 50-70 and the next year 20-30. With JF running the Offense that could throw us back into the ACCCG with 10+ win seasons hands down.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
but at the same time How good would it look to be that guy that came in to FSU
and turned the Def around over night.(the off season) This very posable. We have the players that can get it done if we can get about 2 or 3 JrCo/True Fr that can come in and help out off the bad like 2 for the D-line, a CB and maybe a solid SS. How would that look for them for there next job if they wanted to move up to a HC in a few years. I would take someone for 3-5 years thats going to leave for a HC if he can make it work throw that time because JF will have more than enough time to get someone just as good if not better.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
In the end I have a good feeling
For the most part I hope we get a win vs WF for the only reason to have EJ have that taste of victory. I think thats more importen right now than the win to have a chance to become bowl elg. We need to let EJ know we are behind him. I hate when someone comes in and gets that lose off the bat. What that does to a kid make or brake a career and that to me is the one thing we dont want to have. FSU has had some QB come in over the last few years they just sucked. They had promice but between coaching and confidence things just got away form them. I dont want this to happen to EJ.

I just want to say to all those people above that just didnt beleave
HA ha!!! I told you so. I think one of the problems is everyone things that Ponders is the Offense at FSU, Though he is a big key to it with out all the others hes only one person. It still takes 11 to work . Ej did a great job dont get me wrong but he still needs a lot of work. But thats ok he still has 2 more years to get where we need him to be and I think we might see more EJ in next year with a healthy ponder because we can run some stuff extra like today that makes even more for teams to prepar for.

Congrats Des
FSU’s offense did exactly what you thought they would do and WF’s defense did exactly what nobody predicted them to do.

Happy thoughts it worked Desman, thanks for keeping the faith.
Speed is a great asset; but it's greater when it's combined with quickness - and there's a big difference.

We bad news is that we have Maryland next week and though there might be like a 70%
chance we get the win I have a feeling we keep them in the game. We are not going to get a good Def look this week and now they know what EJ is going to run. Thats what helped uis vs WF.

Jimbo will change it up & expand the playbook
Wake played the wrong defenses & didn’t bother to change. Watching the Wake game won’t help MD much. They won’t be able to stop us even if we run all the same plays.
