FSU Assistant Coaches.....and the offense and defense...
So we know Gran is on board. How long do we have to wait to find out who the other coaches are? We've got rumors about Smart, Sunseri, Hudson, etc... Are any of them real? If we did land someone big how long would it be before our defense is top notch again? Friends of mine were talking about last week's game between Texas and Nebraska and how the Huskers were able to get to Colt about 9 times. I reminded them that there was a time when FSU would do that to a qb too and their mocking FSU saying yeah back in the stone age. I quickly reminded those Gator fans that Tommie Frazier is still out there and they have yet to find him. I'm asked what that frazier line is supposed to mean, I mention to do a youtube search of the 95 Fiesta Bowl and that long run by Frazier still stands out.
I'm curious to see who comes on board coaching wise on both sides of the ball. Will Tbuck remain or will someone else run the secondary? Will Sunseri come in and coach the entire defense and the linebacking or will that last role fall to someone else. I'm curious to see if we'll see new wrinkles in the offense such as more option plays, trickery, and the sort. I'd like to see some direct snaps to the tailback like Richt used to have Dunn and Minor run back in the day.
I will say this...I like the recruits we are starting to reel in. People say we have a long way to go. I say the only place we will go is up again. The struggles we've had are nothing new. Every team in every sport college or pro has to go and rebuild at some point. We will be back. We are Florida State. Coach Bowden was greet, now lets see what Coach Jimbo and his boys can do... Lights, camera, Action... It's seminole showtime....

sure
sure u can change it…couldn’t think of anything to catch viewersd with this being my first blog/post….
I'm thinking Mark Stoops will be the DC
If that’s the case, he’ll coach the secondary. So I don’t know where that leaves TBuck…
We had better light a fire under that ass.
We’re not even the biggest program in the state shopping for a DC and staff, let alone the southeast. We had better put some oomph in that effort before Florida or Georgia steals the thunder.
But I do love how we’re getting so many excellent defensive commits when they don’t even know who they’ll be working for yet. Two five stars in four days… YIKES.
I bleed Garnet and piss Gold.
UF is run extremely well
They knew this day was coming and to think they have not been scouting other DCs or at least putting feelers out is being naive. I hope they hire withing but their program is run too well for them not to have a Plan B knowing full well Strong was going to be gone at year’s end.
It's a beautiful day in Tallahassee
Direct snap
Who wouldn’t like to see a direct snap to either Reed or Reid?
(Bert, Greg)
That kind of negates the surprise aspect of a direct snap if either guy is lined up in the backfield.
I would much prefer to see Reed go in his jet motion but a direct snap to Pryor, with Pryor going one way and both Reed and Ponder faking the option the other way.
does anyone remember the "trick play" we did in (i think) the '99 title game?
i may be wrong but how i remember it….weinke took a quick pass to warrick who dropped off the line into the flat, warrick passed it back to weinke and weinke bombed it downfield…..or did i just make that up in my head?

Stoops...
At first I thought why Stoops, then I looked at his resume and who he has coached. Alot of his guys are in the NFL especially the Canes. I think he could help out our defense big time. I think Jimbo should give someone like Boulware or Brooks a shot at coaching linebackers even though that probably won’t happen. Back to stoops I’ve looked at his defenses and I’d rather be in the 20’s than the 100’s like we were. I think the talent we have coming in combined with returning guys will surely help us be back. I’m curious to see if Joyner will get some reps on offense too.
I said the same thing about Brooks when Mickey first anounced his retirement
But the knowledgeable people here at TN were quick to point out that great players don’t always make great coaches. While I agree with you that Brooks probably has the tools to make a great coach if he wanted to go that route they should start as a GA somewhere and prove to be good coaches before they can get a job in our staff. Bobby had been hiring old players for coaching positions for a while and look where it led us, better to let them build a name in coaching somewhere else and show that they can coach then give them a shot in our staff.
I would love to see Brooks and other former players around more often during the season and spring practices to help recruit though.
Correct...you want Brooks to be an ambassodor for the program, but
you never want to be in a position to fire Brooks because he didn’t work out as a coach.
Very good resume/pedigree.
And the best part about it, is that the secondary he worked with that produced 4/5+ first rounders, WAS IN MIAMI! BOOM GOES THE DYNAMTE! Talk about having some pull in defensive back recruit’s living rooms in south Florida. Di-zam!
And yes I would love to have Stoops coaching our talent in the secondary
turn Joyner, Reid, Dent, Harris, maybe Elam into Edd Reed, Phillip Buchanon, Sean Taylor and company like he did in Miami.
