I was at bleedcubbieblue for a few years before coming over here, and they made it a point once they moved over to SBN to put up a “newcomers welcome & how to” post every couple of months, as well as leaving something permanant on the side bar. Always a good refresher.

That being said...

I would encourage new members, as well as old, to check out the section titled “Rules/How to’s/FAQs” on the left side of the front page.

+1

I’ve noticed a ton of new members on the site, and hence a lot of people posting. Let’s make sure its all quality, discussion worthy stuff. Otherwise, just comment in an existing thread…

That must've been it. For the record, it wasn't my fanpost...

I just turned it into a discussion about Mark Stoops, FSU’s next DC.

by FSUjab on Dec 10, 2009 12:23 PM EST up reply actions

I deleted it myself

It didn’t seem necessary to have an additional Mark Stoops post up an also the idea of Tubs was ruled out pretty fast. Didn’t see the need for it to clutter up and take away from other threads.

Mine got zapped too.

However, once I read the first reply to my fanpost I saw why. A day late and a dollar short. My bad.

I think there are two or three fanshots.

Plus if we want to make a Stoops thread, let’s make it under a Stoops title.

The 2009 Bowl gift packages have been released. Looks like we’re getting a Fossil watch and Oakley Antix sunglasses. Amato will get a pair of glasses as a send off. Fitting indeed.

Newbie comment....

Being a newbie to your site, which I’m finding I’m getting addicted to btw, I read your “Welcome Guide” (top right) thinking that was pretty much it concerning the rules and jumped right into reading and replying to posts. Unless I’m missing it I didn’t see a link in the “Welcome guide” for the “Tomahawk Nation Welcome Guide!” so I could link over to view it. I know that would of helped me out. I’m guessing the “Welcome Guide” is a generic page for SB Nation but from a newbie standpoint you think it’s just for this site… at first.

Not until later, after I pulled my head out of all these wonderful posts, did I even realize there was a link for the “Rules/ How to’s/ FAQ” to the left of the page. Just my .02

This should be fun.

The commenters at the Cincy Enquirer are beside themselves.

I really can’t fathom why Kelly would want to ditch Cincy for that trainwreck.

by Drew J Jones on Dec 10, 2009 7:20 PM EST up reply actions

Even so, it seems like career suicide.

He had a chance to build Cincy into something pretty respectable. He could’ve easily dominated the Big East.

by tricknole on Dec 10, 2009 8:58 PM EST up reply actions

but he would always be second tier at UC

Ohio only has enough talent to support one top program, and it will always be tOSU. Dominating in the Big East is light years away from dominating at a truly elite program.

by bigdukesix on Dec 11, 2009 12:26 AM EST up reply actions

I disagree.

Ohio is the 7th most populous state in the country. That’s like combining South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. And high school football in Cincy (and the SW Ohio region) is VERY good.

Obviously OSU is THE program in the state (pun intended). But Cincinnati has just won the Big East 2 years in a row and gone 23-3 in the process. That get’s noticed. They also have Ohio State on the schedule several times in the next few years. Knock them off a couple of times and continue winning your BCS conference, and you create some staying power.

While Cincinnati isn’t the biggest, or wealthiest city, there are more than enough well-to-do residents in the area to throw millions at the school to upgrade facilities. Kelly would’ve been given everything he asked for there. He already got them to splurge for a new practice field/facility. Another few top 10 seasons and Kelly would’ve gotten all the upgrades to the stadium he wanted, too.

I don’t blame Kelly for his choice. He went to a higher profile (maybe THE highest), greater paying job. If he goes undefeated at Notre Dame, he won’t get left out of the national title game, either, like has just happened at Cincinnati. It’s just that I think he could’ve put the Bearcats on the map and kept them there.

I’m just sayin’ I think I would’ve stayed at Cincinnati. Maybe I’m stupid but I think that program has promise and is less risky than Notre Dame. Higher risk, higher reward, I guess.

by tricknole on Dec 11, 2009 3:13 PM EST up reply actions

It would take many more millions to upgrad in a down town area than most schools have to contend with.

It’s one thing to buy up land in AL or GA. It’s another thing to buy up land in downtown Cincy.

They simply have never been THAT committed to football. Miami of Ohio, and Ohio State are LITERALLY in their back yard as well.

I agree that it’s possible, but it would have to be a HUGE commitment financially and they just aren’t willing to do it!

Yeah, right!

by truecolors on Dec 11, 2009 3:31 PM EST up reply actions

UC wouldn't have to foot a substantial amount of the bill.

Local donors would. They paid for the new practice facility.

by tricknole on Dec 11, 2009 3:54 PM EST up reply actions

Are you up north?

I agree its possible, but they haven’t done it yet.

This was their prime opportuinity to pay the coach and put in writting future upgrades they did not do that.

Yeah, right!

by truecolors on Dec 11, 2009 3:56 PM EST up reply actions

Currently, no.

I know SW Ohio pretty well, though.

And Kelly didn’t allow them to make the upgrades. He had his mind made up. And as I already said, they agreed to give him a new $20M+ practice facility prior to this season. They would’ve given him stadium upgrades in the future.

by tricknole on Dec 11, 2009 4:00 PM EST up reply actions

they stadium can't be expanded on site as I remember... no room cornered by the feild house and an on campus parking garage

and no there is nowhere else to put the parking garage nearby.

If you are right they will make yet ANOTHER good HC hire and cross this same bridge in a few years.

Yeah, right!

by truecolors on Dec 11, 2009 4:04 PM EST up reply actions

Dantonio? He was alright.

I agree with you saying we’ll see what their mindset is based on this next hire. According to Joe Schad, they’re looking at Al Golden (Temple), Butch Jones (Central Michigan), Skip Holtz (ECU) and Kevin Sumlin (Houston), among others. Think those are good potential coaches.

by tricknole on Dec 11, 2009 4:11 PM EST up reply actions

the issue isn't purely population

It’s the amount of D-1 talent the state is putting out. And Ohio simply doesn’t put out enough to support two elite programs. And UC would have to beat tOSU 65 times in a row to have any chance at changing the hierarchy in the state.

UC isn’t a top 25 job. And Notre Dame, for all its faults, is borderline top 10.

by bigdukesix on Dec 11, 2009 4:56 PM EST up reply actions

Elite?

Do you mean elite at the same time or just in a group of GRAE (generally recognized as elite)? I would put the Big 3 as GRAE, but right now, only UF is elite.

I never said Cincy would surpass OSU in any hierarchy, just that they could be a nationally ranked program and compete for national titles. I believe that. They were awfully close this year.

And you are EXACTLY right on the quality of population being just as important as the quantity. Didn’t think anyone/man would catch that. But Kelly turned them into a top 5 team with mostly 3/2 star talent from Ohio.

My main point was that UC would’ve been a perennially ranked program and occasionally in contention for a national championship with Kelly. They would’ve put forth the money to upgrade as much as they could, their facilities, salaries, etc.. Without him, I don’t know. But their list of potential candidates seems relatively strong. It’s very possible they drift away like Louisville did after Petrino.

by tricknole on Dec 11, 2009 11:46 PM EST up reply actions

I spent 4 years in Cincy.... I can't believe that the enquirer can't believe that he would want to go.

there a highschools in town with bigger stadiums, no room downtown for expantion and no serious interest in the football team because of the bengals and the reds.

It’s a good school, but always will be a transitional job for good coaches, unless they really drop some cash on facilities.

Yeah, right!

by truecolors on Dec 11, 2009 1:05 PM EST up reply actions

Interest in the Reds?

That’s laughable. Fans resent the Reds and hate the ownership. But more importantly, baseball season isn’t during football. And I hope you’re just trying to make a point by saying high schools have bigger stadiums, because they don’t.

I agree locals like the Bengals more, but Ohio is a huge football state. Friday nights are huge, the state loves their Buckeyes, and fans go to Bengals and Browns game even though both have pretty much been awful for the past decade plus.

by tricknole on Dec 11, 2009 3:24 PM EST up reply actions

And they still buy tickets every day!

again I’m not saying it couldn’t be done…I’m saying it would take a bigger commitment financially since A. they are WAY behind the times, and B. the cost per/whatever would be higher do to their location.

They have never shown that kind of committment.

FYI Cincy couldn’t even support the KINGS basketball and they LOVE hoops.

They’re just not that committed and MANY are already OSU fans.

Yeah, right!

by truecolors on Dec 11, 2009 3:35 PM EST up reply actions

Yes, but...

…tricknole makes the point I would make: He could’ve built Cincy into one of the Big Dawgs if he’d stuck around for another 10 years or so.

Is Notre Dame’s program — I, personally, question whether it will ever be elite again — really worth the extra pay and possibility of being fired if it doesn’t work? After all, if he continues to succeed at Cincy, he could eventually be making more than enough money, and he’d be building a very respectable legacy.

I have trouble imagining ND turning it around. Plus, Notre Dame is as close to pure evil as you can be without being the Gators, whereas Cincy is kinda fun to root for.

by Drew J Jones on Dec 11, 2009 7:44 AM EST up reply actions

Many people have said this kind of thing

What’s with all the “why would so and so go to such and such a place? If it doesn’t work out, their value will decrease”.

To be a college level coach, one is very much an alpha personality. I’m sure for most part, the what if I fail question doesn’t enter the equation. To make it at that level, you have to be pretty confident (see Weis, Chalie – “we’ll have a decided schematic advantage”), and not very likely to think that you won’t be able to succeed. So from that standpoint, there’s not as more risk perceived by them as you or I might think.

There are some exceptions to a coaches risk/reward decision. Moving to a school where you don’t think the recruiting will be as easy, less desirable area, etc….but money can make you think that is a risk worth taking. One reason for that is that once your pay is bumped, even in failure, it’s less likely for another school down the road to offer you significantly less. Your perceived value to potential future emplyers has increased. So from that standpoint, it may be an acceptable risk.

by PBD on Dec 11, 2009 8:13 AM EST up reply actions

He's been successful wherever he's gone

by FSUjab on Dec 11, 2009 11:31 AM EST up reply actions

Cincy has a very firm celing of how much money they can bring in because of their physical limitations, and divided interest.

It’s very hard to have an elite program in a large city…unless its SO large it can support both. Cincinnati cannot.

They can’t really become big dogs.

Yeah, right!

by truecolors on Dec 11, 2009 1:07 PM EST up reply actions

Can you explain this?

“It’s very hard to have an elite program in a large city.”

by tricknole on Dec 11, 2009 2:49 PM EST up reply actions

Hard to hold local interest

It is the problem the Canes have when it comes to filling their stadium. Just so much going on in a big city that people aren’t as passionate about the football program. The one exception I can think of is out in LA where they have decades of tradition to fall back on.

by osceolafan850 on Dec 11, 2009 3:18 PM EST up reply actions

The Canes problem is that they don't have a large or local alumni base.

And it’s a nice half hour drive for students. So it’s not like they can get wasted across the street, go to the game, and then walk home. Or that they have half as many students as larger state universities.

There is a lot to do in Miami, though. And when you have no ties to the school and are just a “fan”, it’s easy to find cheaper things to do other than attend games.

But, Ohio State is in Columbus and they consistently draw very well. Tennessee’s in Knoxville. Michigan’s just 45 minutes outside Detroit. All those schools draw extremely well. Texas/Austin, Georgia/Athens, Cal/Oakland/San Fran, AZ schools/Phoenix and the list goes on.

Did UC have trouble selling out their games?

by tricknole on Dec 11, 2009 3:47 PM EST up reply actions

Meh, I think there are more than enough greater Cincy residents that don’t have strong ties to Ohio State that would be more than willing to support a local team. Obviously you don’t build this up over night. If you’re one of those Cincinnatians that has no ties, would you rather spend the gas money, drive for 5 hours and most likely buy more expensive tickets, or stay in Cincinnati and still watch BCS teams?

What you would do isn’t what everyone would do.

by tricknole on Dec 11, 2009 4:05 PM EST up reply actions

Your right so here's the score.

It COULD happen….but hasn’t yet.

by tricknole on Dec 11, 2009 4:13 PM EST up reply actions

Different issue?

Fans Support vs Not having an elite program

Not necessarily mutually exclusive

by jasonole59 on Dec 11, 2009 3:58 PM EST up reply actions

Larger cities have pro teams.

LA is HUGE so they can get away with multiple pro teams and still support a college team bringing in the kind of money that it takes to be consistently elite. Other places this usually isn’t the case.

Cincy is just big enough to support Bengals and Reds, and college basketball…UC and Louisvill (across the river). I think there MIGHT me enough money to support a big time program but cincinnati cant access it.

They have a TINY stadium in the down town area…there is nowhere to go for expansion, unless they drop tons of cash.

Ohio State is only 2 hours away and has the benifit of a “large enough” city (Columbus) but still had lots of room for growth over the years.

to keep the interest of a guy like Kelly they would have to come up with enough cash to keep him and enough cash to commit to MULTIPLE facility upgrades.

I don’t think that can happen any time soon!

Yeah, right!

by truecolors on Dec 11, 2009 3:26 PM EST up reply actions

Turff in Ohio gets absolutely shredded in ohio.

The Bengals have to be strong armed by the city just to get the Highschool playoffs held there annually…. and they kick and screem.

It is not uncommon for them to have to returff one or two times a year.

Yeah, right!

by truecolors on Dec 11, 2009 3:38 PM EST up reply actions

I repeat

Cincinnati will never become one of the Big Dawgs. They’ve got as much of a chance as Duke. The resources just aren’t there.

by bigdukesix on Dec 11, 2009 4:57 PM EST up reply actions

He's right on this point... easier acedimics and way more local money.

George bush’s #1 fundraising zip code in the nation is in Cincy… they just haven’t been apt to give that money to the football program heretofore.

If we’re trying to get a feel of the type of defense he runs you definitely look at the kind of players he likes to bring in and how big they are. I’ve seen enough of 210 pound LBs and 240 pound DEs.

Arizona is not as low a level program as you think. They would beat us by 2 scores if we played this year.

by tdchrisdavis on Dec 11, 2009 4:50 PM EST up reply actions

right, but look at the process first.

It’s proven that bigger guys in the front 7 make for a much more effective defense. Now either he isn’t able to get the guys he wants at Arizona or his style is around smaller guys. I really hope it is the first of these two things.

by tdchrisdavis on Dec 12, 2009 11:21 AM EST up reply actions

Ok, I agree.

And there is no doubt in my mind he isn’t able to get those big bodies. I highly doubt there able to get many of even their second choice recruit most of the time.

And more importantly, I don’t think Fisher would’ve hired him if Stoops said, “I will recruit 200 lb linebackers and 220 lb ends…”. Many of our guys (either on the roster or that we’re recruiting) are bigger than that anyways.

Lastly, I would gladly take a 5’11 205 lb guy like Ernie Sims or a 5’9" 230 lb guy like Buster Davis over a 6’+ 220 lb+ guys that aren’t nearly as talented. And damn, can you believe how ORDINARY our LBs are this year? Even prior to this year we still had guys like Davis, Sims, Timmons, Hayes and Nicholson (both of them were very solid, imo). Even backups like Church and McGrew were solid back in ‘04-’05(?). Five years ago Smith and Watson would’ve been Rovers and only Bradham would sniff the field at LB, from our current roster.

by tricknole on Dec 12, 2009 3:08 PM EST up reply actions

They could be smaller because he wants to get the to their maximum speed without extra fat.

And his guys probably don’t have the same build.
If that is the case then he can work with Bradham at a fully mobile 240-245, Williams-245, Carr-240, Luc-240.
Any other ideas or and predictions?

Kenny Shaw

any truth to WR Kenny Shaw signing soon?

by derekg on Dec 15, 2009 10:41 PM EST reply actions

Last very unofficial word I heard he planned to commit on his birthday, January 15th

Note: This post belongs on the " Recruiting Big Board " you will find a direct link to it in a frame on the left side of TN’s front page. NoleThru&Thru acts as a sentry over the recruiting questions there, and can maybe confirm this is the latest. General sentiment is that he has been a silent commit to us for months. Also, welcome to the Tomahawk Nation community.

thanks

I will post in the correct spot. I heard the same thing about committing on his birthday. I will post in the correct spot next time.

Question: while were on tech items... I'm getting the "Kindle 2" from amazon.

noticed TN is one of the blogs they offer. do you guys have to sign up to be included in that or is this something that Amazon converts on their own and you know nothing about?

Interested in using this to keep up with TN articles.

Yeah, right!

The Tomahawk Nation logo in the upper left corner of the page...

Two tomahawks cris-crossed over top of the state of florida—all on a garnet background…. Where did that come from? Is it original artwork? I think someone suggested that the site go into the business of making TN t-shirts and other paraphenalia.

On a side note, one of the earliest cases I worked on was defending a small t-shirt business. They company would make t-shirts using the colors of colleges playing in bowl games and sell them outside the stadium. The t-shirts did not contain any school names, mascots, or registered trademarks. The company’s owner made a very modest living doing it. I forget whether it was the colleges, bowls, or the NCAA who sued the company, but basically they were claiming trade dress (proprietary rights) in any t-shirts and paraphenalia that bore the school colors (ex. red & white for Ohio State, orange and blue for Auburn). I’m not sure what ever happened with that case.

by NoleLaw on Dec 17, 2009 9:43 AM EST reply actions

if im not mistaken, when it comes to copyrighted/ trademarked images you only have to modify the image 10% and then the laws dont apply anymore

so im sure u could use off-colors, but thats jsut crazy they went after that guy…greeeeeed

I'd disagree.

One of the “copyrights” is the right to create or authorize derivative works. While there are some general guidelines and statutes to follow, most cases are decided on a case-by-case basis. I just thought it was interesting for a school ike LSU to claim and intellectual property interest in every purple and yellow shirt that is sold anywhere in the vicinity of its bowl game. I had the impossible task of researching similar federal cases that had been filed but that did not result in a judgment one way or the other (i.e., cases that were pending or settled). I am sure that the various legal noles can appreciate how difficult it is to research cases that do not result in opinions from the court.

In any event, I discovered several cases that were interesting. For example, the Texas Tech Red Raiders sued the author of the comic strip Red Rider. In another example, I think Auburn sued a brewery that bottled beer in blue and amber bottles. The label on the blue bottles said “Go” and the label on the amber bottles said “Tigers!”. Perhaps is was a state agency that regulated brewing instead of the school. It was just interesting to me.

by NoleLaw on Dec 17, 2009 3:26 PM EST up reply actions

wow that is interesting....im just going off what a similar t-shirt vendor told me...

…so i know absolutly nothing lol he told me about the 10% thing, he would use, say, a picture of Doak, change the colors up, do some photoshopping and add a few things here and there and make a tshirt out of it

"Don't flinch, let's kill a fly with an Axe."

by NorFla_Nole on Dec 17, 2009 4:16 PM EST up reply actions

There is no 10% rule.

Like I said, the company I was involved with did not use any mascots, school names, symbols or trademarks (for FSU think helmet spear, the Chief Osceola indian head logo, renegade). They were just two-colored shirts—one color for the shirt and one for the writing—and had catchy phrases and slogans that were not affiliated with the schools or teams. As I recall, they were very creative and cool-looking. I think there was another case that involved teddy bears wearing sports jerseys. The toy company couldn’t get a deal with the major leagues to use the team’s trademarks because the professional monopolies had already given Mattel or one of the other big toy companies exclusive rights. So this little toy company entered into deals with individual players (think names like Shaq when he was with the Lakers) to use their names. Then the little toy company made bears wearing two-color uniforms that bore the individual players’ names on the back. For example, there might have been a bear wearing a purple and yellow jersey with the name “Shaq” on the back (when Shaq played for the Lakers). I think MLB and the NBA sued the toy company claiming a proprietary interest in the two color uniforms. I think that case settled as well. Whose to say whether the Lakers or LSU (if anyone) would have had a proprietary interest in a purple and yellow outfit bearing the name “Shaq”?

Anyway, enough with this side note… and this was not intended to be legal advice for anyone. But I still have my original questions about:

Two tomahawks cris-crossed over top of the state of florida—all on a garnet background…. Where did that come from? Is it original artwork? I think someone suggested that the site go into the business of making TN t-shirts and other paraphenalia.

by NoleLaw on Dec 17, 2009 5:18 PM EST up reply actions

thanks for the lesson!

it kinda reminds me of commercials with players wearing random jerseys that just have their number on it and random colors, instead of a team jersey…
about the TN shirts, there was a post somewhre on here when they made a batch of shirts, maybe u can do a search for it…

Couple of site-related questions

Are there going to be more frequent WORTs (say, weekly) as we approach signing day? I seem to remember more frequent posts last year.

I have a friend who reads TN regularly but says he never reads the comment section. Even in threads like this one, some of the discussions are awesome and might be worth turning into posts that represent the main ideas. Has anyone (i.e. a moderator) thought of putting together a “Best Comments” series that pulls great comments, attributes them to authors, and post occasionally on the main page to keep people like said friend informed (and maybe get them participating)?

If they don’t participate, maybe they just don’t need to know, but they are missing out on a lot of good stuff.

Just thoughts.

by Aussierat on Dec 17, 2009 2:01 PM EST reply actions

Yes.

I had a lot on my plate these last couple of weeks.

I’ll probably put one together for the 23rd.

by FSUSOM on Dec 17, 2009 2:18 PM EST up reply actions

I try to keep up

but will go through periods when I miss a lot of stuff. Expecially if I don’t get to the site for a few days and there are multiple articles with 500 comments up. Then I come in and ask a question like “What’s the latest on Downs?”

It’s a good idea but I can see how it would be difficult to maintain.

The satire by MattD?

I kid.

But the only lines a Cane could even take issue with are quotes from recruiting analysts/scouts and not Bud himself.

“Instead of being embarrassed by Coley and those guys, they just pull out early and make it appear as if they didn’t want the kid. You can’t lose if you don’t play. But everyone in the country wanted those two. Heck, USC and Texas basically have an entire megastate to themselves and they would have loved either or Lamarcus of Jeff. If the ‘Canes had Butch Davis or Jimmy Johnson or even (Dennis) Erickson, they would’ve fought tooth and nail for Luc and Joyner. And they probably would have won. But those guys aren’t at Miami anymore. They get who they go after, but they rarely go after a kid they won’t get.
The Seminoles have 19 commitments, and the Hurricanes have 24, meaning FSU should breeze past the Hurricanes in the final standings.

“It’s amazing how quickly momentum can change in recruiting,” Newberg said. “I think the fact that there’s finally closure with coach Bowden is really helping. There was such a black cloud over the university. Coach Fisher and his staff have worked really hard and stayed the course. They’re just rocking and rolling right now.” “They are the hottest team in the country.”

How could anyone deny those comments? I saw a Cane poster on another site a day or two after Luc’s commitment saying he doesn’t have the hips to play MLB and that he’ll end up at DE and that Miami didn’t want him as a DE. Another Cane shortly after Joyner committed said he was more of an offensive player with the skillset of Brandon James from UF, as a return-type man. That’s all you need to see to know to know the anonymous scout isn’t sh*tting us.

by tricknole on Dec 18, 2009 9:26 PM EST up reply actions

he doesn’t have the hips to play MLB and that he’ll end up at DE

That may be true. The only way I see him staying at Mike is if he is in a 3-4 scheme, like Saban’s. I don’t see him being a Mike in any 4-3 scheme.

by gahnki on Dec 18, 2009 11:00 PM EST up reply actions

Why is it you feel he can't play MLB?

I’ve watched his film and I personally do not see “stiff” hips. He honestly looks like he has more wiggle than Bradham. And he’s already physically ready for college. He could maintain his weight while working out to improve flexibility.

by tricknole on Dec 18, 2009 11:39 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t believe he moves well enough to stay at Mike for college ball. He does a really nice job of “locking on” and exploding to a ballcarrier but he has trouble flowing naturally. A lot of his tackles are those “lock on” types in the open field, which is nice, but I’m not sure he can handle misdirection or ‘sifting’ through zone blocking. He seems like one of those old-fashioned middle linebackers who can only go downhill.

And I believe it’s very doubtful that he can turn and run in man-coverage or when he’s pattern-reading. A lot of times a linebacker will run perpendicular to the line of scrimmage and wall off the inside to a slot/tight end until he can switch him out to a defensive back. Luc would struggle with this. That’s mostly an outside linebacker’s job but he will be asked to do this sometimes.

Speaking of Coley did anyone see this morning's awesome Twitter post:

well his home isn't florida, so i'm not sure what that means...

and since he ifs from Cali and went to school there, it would seem strange for him to be a legit FSU fan?

I did see Rupert that is on Letterman (sandwich shop guy) wearing an FSU shirt a couple of years ago. Searching for the video.

yea the sketch was a little to much, but istill thought it was interesting to see the fsu hoody. im from kentucky and have no ties to fsu. im still a diehard fan.

by fsw83 on Dec 21, 2009 2:38 PM EST up reply actions

did you go to a major DI school in kentucky, like UK?

I think he went to UCLA or something, but hey, maybe he wanted to pull for a real football school, and he couldn’t pull for USC being a UCLA grad…

During the 6A State title Game, Brady Ackerman says, "Trey Pettis is commited to the University of Florida."

I was expecting him to botch “University of Florida State”, but State never came. And Whit didn’t correct him. Sigh.
