Jimbo Fisher is sitting with Christian Green's parents at the 2B State Title Game
FSU WR Coach Lawrence Dawsey is also there. Tampa Catholic (Green's team) is playing Bolles out of Jacksonville.
Though I don't like putting a timetable on things like this, I expect Green to be a 'Nole in the next couple of weeks. UGA seems to be the main threat here.

Then I guess it stands to be asked...
We want this guy as a wideout, eh? But how good is he at throwing the ball? Could he back us up after Ponder leaves and in the hypothetical that EJ gets injured?
I bleed Garnet and piss Gold.
with the talent coming in
i think jimbo has all the right reasons to use the wildcat several times a game. reed, LJ, green if he comes, not to mention all the speedy guys we already have. will be exciting.
I dont want to see reed running up the middle
Hes a hell of a receiver but i dont think his frame will take that kind of pounding. Green however………
yea i dont think he comes in as a backup
maybe get reps as QB just in case (ie anquan bolden), but hes coming in as a starter
so we want him like Reed right
He was a Qb at Bay high also wasnt he
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
ya Reed was a QB at Bay
he still warms up with the QBs, i was hoping theyd bust out the wildcat with him
"Don't flinch, let's kill a fly with an Axe."
he was the intended receiver on the past 2 pass plays...
ok, i know this wasn’t a play by play thread ;)
Jimbo and Dawsey
Will probably attend the Glades game tonight – Dent is playing And I’d expect them back next weekend for the rest of the championship games…..Coley should come and bring the spear!
I plan on watching the Glades game.
I forgot Green was with Catholic and I’m hanging with friends right now.

This article's title is almost creepy
TN is almost too good at knowing everything that is happening in the Tomahawk Nation. Tomorrow, I expect an article entitled “A car registered in Trickett’s name was seen driving 5 miles from the Lattimore house.”
This is something that [another site] would find and use as a "tidbit" and make you pay for, even though they got it form a blog site.

Good to hear.
Hope we get him.
I’d really like to know what went on with Jeff Luc and Matt Elam yesterday. If we could land Elam and Green, we’d very possibly be looking at #1 class, I’m guessing.
Yeah.
Elam had a game last night. Luc was there trying to recruit him.

I don't know about #1
but top 5 for sure, at this rate. Of course anything can happen in Jan. after all the bowl games are done.

I was at a coaching clinic this past week with the brother of Dwyer's HC
and he said Elam is leaning heavily towards FSU now.
It's a beautiful day in Tallahassee
Yes that's a very important point.
If we are still in the running after this weekend (and considering the things that I’m hearing here on TN), we’ve got him IMHO. Wishful thinking? Maybe. But the way things are going it’s hard not to be excited about FLA STATE!!!!
im not friends with him so i dunno what his status is
but his pic just shows him in his high school uni.
He said earlier in the week that he was all Gator and that the process is over
This was before Luc went to his game, but I would say don’t get your hopes up. It was always a long shot because of how long the kid had known Urban.
>>---l>
I don't know how much he really knows Elam
But he recruited his brother when CUM was an assistant at ND and probably met his family during visits, etc. I doubt their past relationship goes any further than that.
Urban recruited his brother Abram when Matt was like 9 (or something).
Meyer taught him a WR stance and that apparently has stuck with Matt throughout all the years.
They have an extremely close relationship.
well after this little exchange here, I am still quite optimistic.
Cautious, yes, but still optimistic.
Gator fans are so stupid
Every recruit gets a picture taken with a jersey on

Hopefully...
He is texting Luc in that pic.

Am I crazy, or is it a violation to let recruits wear jerseys with their number on visits?
Part of the whole “simulating game experience” domain, if I’m not mistaken.
You're crazy.
They’re not allowed to put their name on the scoreboard and have them run out of the “tunnel” or the equivalent. I see your point, though. It has similarities to game experience. Not sure why exactly that’s allowed.
I thought I specifically remembered the "jersey" being involved.
Might have to be jersey, plus running out of tunnel, fans, etc., all as part of a simulated game experience. But jersey by itself = OK.
Those are probably from Seminole Showtime.
At least I think that’s where you see a lot of that, and that is different than an official visit…. but I’ve convinced myself that the broader context theory makes sense.
Not from Showtime.
I saw a pic of Vince Williams with Blount and Pressley (and another guy I think), where all of them had jerseys on.
Wouldnt surprise if we tried to bend the rules and a 5-Star recruit runs out of the tunnel as a Coca-Cola Bobblehead Race begins on the War Board.
Our scoreboard operation and pre-game festivities blow.

The Lacey Earps girl was pretty nice.
90% of them were pretty average, or worse. But, I guess if you’re 17 and getting laid by college chicks, that’s cool.
Meh.
To me, Earps looks like Jay Leno with a blond wig. That chin is the world’s answer to that ex-Illinois governor’s hair.
But I take your point about being 17 and sleeping with college chicks. I still say Tally girls are a hell of a lot hotter.

I don’t know. Seems like I’m in the minority but she was actually better looking than I thought she’d be.

They don't drive to recruits high school games.
And from all accounts, Tennessee’s hoe’stesses were the most “aggressive” recruits, their parents and coaches had ever seen. So, no, not really.
Well I know they don't travel.
But they are hostesses. They do a lot of stuff ON CAMPUS (where it should stay) for FSU, recruits, and the like. Some of them are actually kind of cute, too, if I remember correctly.

how much talent there is on these HS teams. That 6’7" WR, Kelvin Benjamin is going to be an absolute stud – think bigger Randy Moss.
So true
I’ve heard northerners say the talent wont be on the small schools. That might be true in NY where to be seen, you pretty much need to be in a big school, but here in FL, the talent is EVERYWHERE!

Glades Central is 2A
and they produce college prospects. Is it much of a talent drop off per classification in Florida? I ask because of the kelvin Taylor thing going on the internet and someone claiming Andre Debose played “terrible” competition last year, despite being at a big (6A) school
by westcoastnolefan on Dec 12, 2009 9:45 PM EST up reply actions
Andre Dubose
Yeah, really terrible competition. Beat Miami Northwestern to win the 6A State Championship. You don’t get to the finals and win by accident. Sudden death in the playoffs. It may make sense that the team that gets hot at the end of the season stays alive. His teammate Ray Ray Armstrong was bigtime in his limited play for Miami.
Classification
School classification has to do with the size of the school. 6A is the largest classification. I wouldn’t say talent is correlated with the school size but the smaller schools are usually prep schools.
Okay, cool
Because there’s the rumors floating around about Taylor transferring to STA (I don’t like private schools hoarding talent. Thats how De La Salle won 151 games in a row!). And I just wondering if it made any since for the kid to do so since everyone already knows who he is. Or maybe comp level would be why he’d do it. If he’s being sufficently challenged at Glades Day, he should stay. As opposed to making an already highly acclaimed program even more succesful
by westcoastnolefan on Dec 12, 2009 10:37 PM EST up reply actions
I live in Jacksonville and went to a public school (Mandarin 6A). The talent is spread out over all the area high schools except private schools like Bolles literally recruit kids and thats why they run the tables.
Im from J-ville too...
And I know for a fact that when Tebow attended Nease (as a homeschooler) that they had alot of transfers to them because they recruited like muthatruckas and even almost got in trouble for it from the FHSAA. I think that this goes on at a lot of premier high school programs.
ya my HS ran into that crap too in basketball
wed always run the table, get to the final four and the other 3 teams would all be private schools that recuited, not to say that we lost to them every time, but they def had an advantage, theyd have guys on their starting 5 that couldnt speak english

De La Salle
is the only private school in that part of the Bay Area. So they could horde talent from almost as far south as Oakland (Where MoJo Drew was born) all the way Sacramento (Where DJ Williams is from). So basically it was like combining four Private schools teams into one and picking out the best players. Seems like S.T. Aquinnas has liberty to cherrypick all the best Dade and Broward County talent, and will add a muck area kid if suits their interests
by westcoastnolefan on Dec 13, 2009 12:18 AM EST up reply actions
Was it Admiral Farragut?
Because they were in our district and they did that shit all the time and made it to the finals every year and constantly had kids on their team that all they new was “help help” and “ball ball”
Pissed me off
No, but it seems regardless of State, area, city, or district
private schools can do whatever they want and win championships despite not having used any homegrown talent. I think the era of athletically motivated transfers has hurt HS sports nationwide. It seems extremely hollow because you don’t really have a team of kids who grew up in the same neighborhood playing w/each other. Now, you just have a bunch of teenage hired guns. To me thats sad.
by westcoastnolefan on Dec 13, 2009 12:33 AM EST up reply actions
"But they are there for the education"
Thats the excuse private schools give. “We’ll let you come to our school and you won’t even have to pay tuition as long as you try out for the football team.”
There are private schools
that colleges won’t even accept transcripts from because they know the grades have been doctored. A kid here from a very bad neighbohood went to a private school. They allowed him to play even though he only carried a 1.8 GPA. He lead that school to three straight section (CIF) championship games(Winning two). But wait, he could never get qualified to play D1 ball. Even though he broke Reggie Bush’s city record for yards per carry. Private school did wonders for em, huh?
