HA!

Florida on upset alert.

by MKE Nole on Dec 16, 2009 11:54 AM EST reply actions

It could happen I guess.

Really hope it does. I thought there was absolutely no way on earth Bama was going to lose to Utah last year. I would love to see a Gator team come out and look completely lost and deflated.

I guess fsu

Is on blowout alert. Hope the defense’s new years resolution is to actually tackle people with the ball

Which is why it's good that....

…this game can be considered part of the Bobby Bowden era, and not the start of the Jimbo Fisher era.

With that comment, he shows his respect for Bobby, but also says “I can’t turn this thing around in a month, especially with our current staff”

by PBD on Dec 16, 2009 12:18 PM EST up reply actions

I actually agree with his WVU line

The only (and ONLY) way we win is if we pull a ACC Championship game vs. VT kinda game, where the D chose to pulverize everyone they touched (well, at least for 3 quarters anyway).

(graphic: FSUncensored)

But since our lowest defensive YPP is 4.9 against one of FBS’ worst offenses (UNC – FEI ORank 96), there’s no reason to think they should yield any less than that. Put me down for 7 YPP, 60 snaps and 420 total yards.

FSU does well post season. Who thought last year we would beat UW so badly? Who though the year before that we’d actually be within one score of UK with 1/4 of the team suspended? Who thought JB’s last game would be such a lopsided win? Who thought we would beat VT and then actually hang tight with PSU?

Then again those matchups were more the result of our regular season accomplishments, not retirement, so maybe those previous games are not comparable.

by lul on Dec 16, 2009 3:01 PM EST up reply actions

Pfft.
As long as the defense can contain backup QB EJ Manuel

That’s a big “IF”—containing Jimbo’s defense. Their defensive FEI is 34. Outside the numbers, I look for the FSU guys to get up for Mickey’s last game and for 65-70,000 drunk nole fans to be rocking the stadium. With all of the bitching WVU is doing about having to play in this game, they might be in for a let down. As far as misdirection goes, our D is excels at missing the right direction. And hey, there’s even been reports of our coaches trying to teach angles and a little technique.

C'mon NoleLaw, I wouldn't expect a statement like this from you

I look for the FSU guys to get up for Mickey’s last game

The Maryland game proved

that ‘getting up for Mickey’ meant exactly one and a half series for our D.

by onebarrelrum on Dec 16, 2009 1:03 PM EST up reply actions

I see your point.

They guys get a stop late in the 4th to give EJ the ball so we could get the game-winning TD. I don’t expect a shutout. I do expect them to play well enough to keep it close.
We should have a much better crowd at the bowl than we had for any of the home games, and I’m hoping it might fire our guys up. WVU is only favored by 3, last time I checked.

by NoleLaw on Dec 16, 2009 1:43 PM EST up reply actions

No offense

but really? If that was true, then we should have played well for all of our home games. Enthusiasm and intensity is no substitute for poor coaching and execution. But as long as those G&G glasses keep the UV rays from your eyes, keep em on.

by ricobert1 on Dec 16, 2009 1:49 PM EST up reply actions

Enthusiasm and intensity

Don’t think we had that at home, except maybe the Miami game.

by NoleLaw on Dec 16, 2009 1:51 PM EST up reply actions

Do you think

,then, that our guys are well-coached and execute well; and that our real issue is not getting up for games?

by ricobert1 on Dec 16, 2009 1:54 PM EST up reply actions

Nope.

if you are talking about the players. I think the 12th man could use a little enthusiasm & intensity. Also don’t see WVU blowing us out in a hostile environment. UF is the only one who blew us out all season and WVU is not UF.

On a seperate note… Brandon Mosley to Auburn.

by NoleLaw on Dec 16, 2009 1:58 PM EST up reply actions

WVU fans will travel

The only way I see us with 2/3 or more of the stadiums is if FSU fans are willing to be SCALPED by WVU fans with tickets.

by ricobert1 on Dec 16, 2009 2:09 PM EST up reply actions

There were already reports of Noles calling WVU to get tickets.

I think a lot of noles bought tickets before the announcement as well. Don’t know that the same happened for WVU. You guys are probably right about it being 60-70% noles.

Been reading for a while and finally joined today.

This doesnt really matter but anyone else notice that this article claims USF beat Pitt? Im pretty sure they got blown out in that game. I think the other bowl eligible team they beat was WVU….. Oh well Go Noles!

Soooooo

Does the month off help or hurt EJ?
His tendency to “aim” his throws by taking off some velocity was exposed at the UF game.
I will be positive about this and say he works on that exclusively.
I think WVU might be a little flat coming out.
FSU has a really good chance in this game…which is why the line is only +3. Based on stats alone, the line should be 7-9.

by Tap2Times on Dec 16, 2009 2:41 PM EST reply actions

Tap2

What makes you (and others) think that WVU will come out flat? Conference seeding wise, they are the Big East #2 so they are where they should be. I don’t think WVU isn’t bitching about being in this game, but about who they’re playing.

Further, I think its more likely that FSU comes out over-geeked up and doesn’t play disciplined on offense or defense for the first quarter and that- along with EJ +1.5 turnovers- is enough to make the difference in the game.

What's a blowout?

I think we lose by double digits.

by RaysnNoles on Dec 16, 2009 4:11 PM EST up reply actions

NO

Not a blowout by any means. I think WVU will win 30-27, for basically the reasons above, add in Noel Devine (nothing like getting pwned by him and CJ in the same year) and the fact that outside of UF and FCS teams, nearly every game has been w/in a TD in the last 5 years

As with all of the games this season, it will come down to how well our offense does.

If our O gets shut down, we likely lose. If not, flip a coin to determine the winner.

PLEASE, YOU TECHIE TYPES,

For this old fool, take a gander at the Rivals or any other services ranking ofW.V. vs. F.S.U. RECRUITS or while your at it , also gander at Cincy and the gayturds. I’m well aware its a team game and at the biggest loss of my 30-some years in wondering what happened to our defense this year. But on paper at least Cincy doesnt even belong on the field with the gayturds and we should creme W.V.
GO NOLES, HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL.
