"...just a week after Bowden's retirement, few thought Jimbo Fisher and the Noles would be this hot on the recruiting trail."

"FSU claimed the No. 19 slot in our recent class rankings with three ESPNU 150 prospects [they were 37th the day Bowden announced his retirement]. Now, with the addition of this class' premier inside linebacker and potential top corner, if they land Lamarcus Joyner (Miami/Saint Thomas Aquinas), it could crack the top-10 on signing day. Jimbo Fisher appears to following in his predecessor's steps as the new closer."

Now that Juc commited to us instead of an SEC team, does anyone think ESPN will drop his ranking to a 4*?

U KNOW IT!

I wonder how much longer we must endure this blatant bias by e-s-pee-pee-n?

At this rate...

…Top 10 is definitely a possibility. Never thought there would be this much excitement THIS soon. Lovin’ it.

Rephrase This As:

THE HAMMER wants MORE COWBELL!!!

GRRRRRR

AAAAAHHHH…THE HAMMER!! HEY OHHHHHH!!!

by DamonH on Dec 8, 2009 12:08 AM EST up reply actions

Pick another name

The Hammer is used by about 17000 people and will ALWAYS be recognized first for Hank Aaron.

Pick a nickname that isn’t already automatically associated with someone else.

How bout Coach Crunk

Crunk is a fusion genre of hip hop music and electro that originated alongside the concept of crunk, meaning out-of-control crowd action.
Performers of crunk music are sometimes denoted with the term crunksters.
Typical crunk track is based on a drum machine rhythm, heavy bassline, shouting vocals, often in call and response manner. Crunk was described as aggressive and hardcore type of music[citation needed] and was compared to rock musicand, particularly, heavy metal and punk rock.
As crunk music went mainstream, the term crunk started getting used as a blanket term to denote any style of southern hip hop.

It should just be an exclamation point. Maybe multiple exclatmaions points.

Whatevever the nickname is,

It should evoke imagery of a man that holds the best respective traits of Scarface and Jay Z. At least that’s how Coley comes off to me…

This is just so awesome

Really could not have asked for a better start to the Jimbo era.

The national media has been exposed on this issue

Spencer Tillman called Bowden “FSU’s greatest asset,” and similar arguments have been made by TV pundits for the last few weeks. Clearly that was not the case.

If Jimbo and Coley orchestrated this as a way to prove Bowden’s time had passed, I’m very proud of them.

by 38Noles on Dec 7, 2009 9:37 PM EST reply actions

recruits were waiting on the announcement on Bowden

I don’t think it had so much to do with anyone orchestrating anything

by Nole2005 on Dec 7, 2009 9:38 PM EST up reply actions

38, I'm probably just misinterpreting your wording: "a way to prove Bowden's time had passed"

but I don’t think Jimbo would purposely do anything to disrepect Bobby. He has made it very clear he holds Bobby in the highest regard. The timing was probably very much intentional I’m sure, but simply for the good of the program and not as a slight to Bobby. Just my opinion, though.

by RollNoles on Dec 7, 2009 10:12 PM EST up reply actions

Maybe a way too prove the program was not suffering would be more precise.

On another note:

The above was my first post on this sight. I LOVE this website. Keep up the good work folks.

Who cares what star rating ESPN gives LUC

I think the other services had already dropped him to a 4 star because of his “hips” or something this year lol

I think I would be more concerned with such an issue if he was a defensive back, but at linebacker? come on

by nolestuff on Dec 7, 2009 11:26 PM EST reply actions

Though the Star rankings are not as impoten to some you have to get some high ranked players to fight

There was a art. about the teams with higher ranking players on there team vs lower numbers. The better schools have the higher on avg. Does this mean having a 4 vs a 5 is better no but in the end it helps out over all. As for Luc himself they can drop him to a 3* and he will still be a good get for FSU.

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J.
