latest from footballscoop:

"Chuck Amato, Jody Allen, Dexter Carter, and strength coach Todd Stroud will not be retained. Eddie Gran will also have the title of "associate head coach.""

No surprises there. All but Stroud have been widely talked about, and even Stroud has been mentioned as not being renewed.

What was the problem with Stoud?

I didn’t know much about him, so I’m just wondering..

I believe FSUn said he hasn't dont anything wrong

Just that FSU can do better

It's a beautiful day in Tallahassee

No sh*t?

They better hope that guy can make the move from FCS to FBS. I think he will. Richmond was a very good program. Villanova’s coach needs a look. Does App State have the same coach as a few years ago?

they are matching what al groh made

I don’t know if that is to fend off any equal opportunity disputes or what

London has an awesome resume, including NFL experience, but I don’t see how he merits 1.7 Million when i don’t even think Jimbo should be pulling in 1.7 Million in his first year

That is what I call escalation; UVA can’t compete with talent but what they can do is drive up the cost of coaching for other universities to help level the playing field

The App State Coach

is old and rumored to be retiring at the end of the year. He’s been coaching for over 40 years and been at App State for over 20.

I thought from the reports Stroud did what was wanted of him

Got the players leaner on the Oline and got the guys to have more endurance. Remember under Jon Jost people complained the team had big guys, but not enough endurance. Also too many injuries, but not sure you can blame that on the S&C coaches, since injuries are bound to happen.

I also thought Stroud sounded good in interviews when talking about players. S&C play a big role not only in physical development, but in mentoring, listening to them, etc during the times all the other coaches are off limits due to NCAA rules.

likely

it is merely a ploy to justify more money for him, though it could include certain administrative functions that Jimbo wants to delegate.

It all depends on what the man on top dictates

USC, Texas and UF all have coaches with that title.

Other schools use those titles.

It is not new. People used it as a reason why coaches at FSU might be in fighting, but coaches at FSU have had such titles for years, and Nick Saban uses some at Alabama.

Bama has one Associate HC and one Asst HC(happens to be Sunseri), not that we have to do what Bama does

Tricket is an Asst HC, which I’m cool with because he is so important to the team; Mickey is an Associate HC and obviously leaving, so I would assume someone grabs that title, but I think that’s where the special titles end.

The Executive HC title was the one that was just a joke IMO, especially since it was just to appease the Clown and giving him a bigger ego than he already had. Leave your big shoes and red foam nose on the way out the door jackass…

I know and understand other schools use the titles. Here is my problem with the titles, which is probably just due to our recent dysfuntction, although that is not being fair to Jimbo and I expect everything to change.

However, a assistant HC who is neither the OC or DC, sounds like he is next in line with authority. Same with a Assoc. HC. I realize the titles are all BS, and as long are there are defined lines of authority, it should not be a problem (i.e. the clown thinking he outranks Jimbo because he was Exec. HC).

No need to tell me things will be different, I expect they will. But it is all BS, and has been a problem for us in the past.
