Good article on new hire Eddie Gran about his recruiting prowess in Florida.

Some quotes from the article and click the link above for the whole story.

"The Seminoles now will have one of the country's top recruiters in the area, one that has more than a decade of experience building relationships with coaches and families in South Florida."

"By the time he left Tennessee, Gran had six prospects with South Florida ties committed, including four-star receiver Ted Meline (North Miami, Fla./North Miami), four-star jumbo athlete Delvin Jones (Palmetto, Fla./Palmetto), three-star offensive lineman Jose Jose (Miami, Fla./Miami Central), sleeper linebacker Ralph Williams (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep), defensive tackle Calvin Smith (Hialeah, Fla./Hialeah) (assistant head coach Ed Orgeron had a lot to do with this one) and junior college receiver Kembrell Thompkins (El Camino Community College), who played at Miami Northwestern."

I like his versatility

6 players – 2 WR, DL , OL, LB and an ATH

It's a beautiful day in Tallahassee

I agree

Gran is a huge pick up for FSU and he has long ties in Florida via his days at Auburn. I think he also makes Jermaine Thomas a monster.

p.s.

Thank you TN for promoting this article to the front page. It really gives some good insight into our new hire and the job Jimbo Fisher is doing in hiring the right guys for the job.

I would like to hear from the college coaches

what school has the best recruiting infrastructure in place. (I know that as soon as Jimbo got here he implemented a philosophy of locking down talent within 150 mile radius of FSU by building relationships with local HS coaches.)

Looks like Gran was recruiting Gainer pretty hard too....

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/football/news/story?id=4709010

Gainer says his final three are FSU, TENN, and Rutgers. So one would think we would now be in the drivers seat if we wanted him.

Any chance FSU wants any of his Tennessee commits and any chance

they get them to switch?

I did not know if coaches tried to sway commits to their new team after working so hard to sell their old place.

well that sounds good to me.

I feel like the wind is starting to blow the other way. I just hope its long enough so we can catch up with UF.

Just hope that his visit in Tallahassee isn't a short one

According to

http://footballcoachscoop.com/Scoop.html

Murray State:
FootballCoachScoop sources tell us that University Officials are moving closer to identifying their Head Coach for the vacant position as South Carolina
Assistant Shane Beamer seems to have emerged as the leader. Among other finalist for the position are Randall McCray (Former Racer Assistant
coach/current Wisconsin Recruiting Coordinator), Justin Fuente (TCU Assistant Coach/Former Racers Quarterback), Dan Werner (Former Racers
Assistant), Chris Hatcher (Former Georgia Southern Head Coach), Eddie Gran (Florida State Running Backs Coach/Special Teams Coordinator) and
Hugh Freeze (Lambuth Head Coach). According to our source there will be a Head Coach by December 20.

Silly Question

Should we be concerned about what is happening at Tennessee with recruiting practices and the recent hiring of Coach Gran?

What we do in life, echoes in eternity.

by Okinole on Dec 9, 2009 9:45 PM EST reply actions

I wouldn't be.

Gran will no longer be an employee of Tenn. and he left before this story broke. I highly doubt as well that a rb coach went rogue and sent girls to high school players schools.

true that

Just kinda wondered. It’s like the guy who walks casually out of a building before it blows to tiny bits. But you’re probably right.

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
