I think it would be somewhat similar to Smart

in that you’d have him for 2-3 years before he went to a HC gig. Stoops may leave even sooner based on his last name.

I don’t think much of it at this point.

Stoops' Arizona Defense

Ranked 21st in total defense.

Record: 8-4

YPP: 5.03 (FSU 6.81)

Fremeau Efficiency Index (FEI) Rating: #12 in the country (strength of schedule adjusted)

Defensive FEI: #22

SOS rank: #10

To put this in perspective, if we had Arizona’s defense we probably would have lost 1 or 2 games this year. Looks like Stoops defense was pretty good for Arizona talent. Remember, all the top talent in the Pac-10 probably goes to USC, Oregon, Arizona St. Heck, Arizona isn’t even tops in the state, much less the Pac-10.

What could Stoops do with FSU level talent?(Arguably I think FSU has more talent on defense right now than Arizona – any reason not to think that?) I think Stoops would be a good choice.

I'd be surprised if he isn't at Youngstown St. next year (2010) as their HC

Stoops, like Mickey Andrews

also coaches secondary. The questions I have on Stoops is, like Kirby Smart, how much of the defensive scheming is really them and how much is it the head coaches of their schools? Saban sounds like a hands on coach, and who is to say Mike Stoops is not the same way? If that is the case for either, how can we really judge them? Also, can Stoops come to the south east from the north west and be able to help in recruiting quickly? It seems like it would take him time to make ties to the schools/coaches, etc.
