28- 17 Arizona

Hopefully a UF vs. Ohio State type of game

Do you mean UF-OU game?

Unless you really want to see an ugly blowout.

I have absolutely no feel for this game

But I’ll throw out a prediction of 27-20 Steelers

Purely guessing I am going with 32- 27 Arizona

I think present of a veteran QB, great receiving core and momentum pushing Arizona too victory. However this game is truly a toss up and I wouldn’t put money on the game.

by Legal_Seminole on Feb 1, 2009 4:41 PM EST reply actions

Pittsburgh offense will score some points

I think Arizona will keep it close.

Arizona will play 1 quarter really well. Either they get off to a big start or they fall behind but come storming back.

I think the commercials will stink this year

They get worse every year. Budweiser will have some good ones but other than that it will just be the same old subway and allstate ones.

Quick pet peeve

Announcers who proclaim punts as “bad kicks” because they do not travel a long way in the air.
Often times these punts bounce favorably and our unreturnable, resulting in a robust net punt.
I probably hear an announcer say this 4-5 times a football weekend.

OK I’m done.

What a terrible throw by Warner

Didn’t he watch the BCS title game this year? If it’s not there, throw it away!

Bruce sounds pretty bad.

Hearing Madden say the FG was “playing the percentages” was frustrating. If you wanna say just take the points that is one thing, but don’t come up with (false) reasons for the FG.

It hurts me so much when announcers TRY to cater to the stat guys out there.

During our basketball game Tim Brando said “there’s a little-known, subtle stat called offensive rebounding.”

Wow… how did he ever managed to find such an obscure stat?!

by MattDNole on Feb 1, 2009 8:22 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t like the Patriots and I am in Patriot land, so it was very satisfying.

This game has probably been a better “game” though. More excitement.

Other than the Tyree catch and Burress TD, what were the big plays in last years SB? I guess Brady getting slammed down on their last drive.

Hope Arizona plays smart

Look for the deep posts and corners and a fade with Fitz.

Don’t dump it off. Anything under 10 yards is not worth it unless it is 3rd or 4th down.

Cards got screwed

The fumble or no fumble didn’t matter, they were not gonna get a 45 yard pass to win it.

But the refs and the Harrison fluke play were all cheap.

Threw only 1 INT which was not really his fault.

Made some nice plays with his feet.

These quesions are so bad...

What did you see on that last touchdown?

I loved the answer by Wizz n hunt – Well, he got his feet down, and it was a TD

Not any better than Kramer, “what were you thinking about your touchdown”

Seriously, give me the goose asking these questions. NBC doesn’t even have good looking girls.

If they had only reviewed it I’d be happy.

The Office is killing tonight, btw.

by MattDNole on Feb 1, 2009 11:00 PM EST reply actions

Yeah... seemed kinda shady...

or at least half-assed. I mean.. Rooney gives $$$ to Obama… Obama says, “Go Steelers.”…. refs call terrible game in favor of Steelers… I’m just sayin… I’m just sayin…

And if someone can explain this penalty to me, I’d ’preciate it:

When J Harrison mugged that other dude on the punt, they called it after the “change of possession,” suggesting that when the ball is punted, possession changes. Steelers ball after the 1/2 foot penalty for aggravated assault. Yet, when a punter is mugged after he punts the ball, it is automatic 1st down for the punting team plus 15 yards.

What am I missing?

by coonhound on Feb 1, 2009 11:25 PM EST up reply actions

I guess roughing the punter is considered in the act of punting

Good comment though.

Maybe it’s kind of like how a holder can have his knee on the ground in college and not be considered down. Or maybe not.

http://today.sportingnews.com/sportingnewstoday/20081229/?pg=2

by tdchrisdavis on Feb 1, 2009 11:31 PM EST reply actions

But if a punter...

is in the act of punting (i.e. he still has the ball) you can mug him all day long and it’s just a tackle. But once the ball is past the line of scrimmage, he is precious and must not be harmed. Maybe that’s it. Once the ball passes the line of scrimmage it has “changed possession.” Whatever.
