This article is pertinent enough to FSU on what is happening with assistant coaching salaries I thought I would link it. We all know Kiffen has been luring some big names to Tennessee.
He is is doing all this by offering the coaches larger salaries and taking less of the pie himself. Kiffen will make around 2 million dollars, substantially less than Herban Meyer and Bobby Bowden.
We are in some perilous economic times and I have a feeling this may be a trend in college football as administrations seek to reduce costs.
It also may have some answers as to why there is a hangup on Trickett's contract. This trend in salary structure could very soon place him in a much higher income bracket as he is probably one of the top 2 offensive line coaches in the country. I will rank Notre Dame's John Latina up there with him.
Trickett may become very hard to keep around unless the administration comes up with a fairly lucrative contract.
Are you listening BB? This last year would have been a great time for him to scale back his salary for the good of the program, accept less and pay assistants more. It would have alleviated some of the angst among the play station all americans.
