Spring Game Questions
Some freinds and I are Looking to attend the Garnet and Gold Game this spring game and I have a few questions...
Those who are in Tally....
What time is the spring game?
If you don't know where should I check for that info?
Is there an entry cost?
Can ya bring food....legitimately?
Let me know if there is anything else that I should be aware of.... besides how bad the reciever corp is likely to look.

Pretty sure the game is April 4th at 7pm.
No entry cost and you can sit wherever you want to in the stadium (enjoy the 50 while you can).
Don’t really remember the food policy, but I don’t recall a lot of the concession stands being open, so they might be a little more flexible with that.
Unless they change the format, don’t expect a competitive game.
What they really do is a series of mock drives and drills. The offense usually gets 1 point for a first down, 6 for a TD. The defense gets 3 for a turnover (I think), 1 for stopping the offense within their first four plays, and 6 for a TD.
The first team offense usually gets about 8 plays starting from their own 20 yard line (hence why it can be a little difficult to score). Regardless of where the team is, the 2nd team offense will come out onto the field and start at the 20. They will move it closer and closer to the goal line (50, 35, etc), but it’s not really designed to help out the O.
Another thing that contributes to the lack of production from the O, is that Mickey Andrews tends to be a complete &*$# in this game. The QBs wear the green non-contact jerseys, and the referees tend to blow the whistle if there is a defender’s hand within 3 yards of the QB (this is incredibly frustrating with QBs like XL, D’Vo, and Christian). Mickey takes this opportunity to blitz 7 or 8 on every play. With that many rushers, the D is bound to get at least 1 hand close enough to the QB to whistle the play dead no matter how well the OL blocks. He is truly a bastard when it comes to this.
If we somehow get a little time to actually run our offense, I wouldn’t expect much out of Jermaine. Our star RBs have been held out of contact during this game for as long as I can remember.
Givens will get wide open on 3-4 deep passes and drop every one of them. Kid drove me nuts during last year’s spring game. Love his enthusiasm and his work ethic, don’t love his hands. He still deserves a scholarship if we can find one though.
One of our… ummm… less than mentally stellar LBs will forget the rules and knock one of our QBs the freak out. Buster Davis was good for at least 2 of these every Spring Game.
I wouldn’t go to the Spring Game expecting to see what we will be next season. I would expect to see the players that will contribute in 2 years and beyond. There aren’t enough reps and it’s not a good enough situation to really get a picture of who next year’s playmakers will be.
