Wednesday Recruiting: National Signing Day Edition!
A huge thanks to everyone who assisted in putting this together. Special thanks to Pbysh, who put together this awesome formatting job on his birthday!
Our first National Signing Day Post drew 320 comments in 3 hours. People were having trouble reloading. If you're bored, read through yesterday's thread (linked below).
Greg Reid Committed to the Noles! You can hear his actual commitment on Chantrant.com Remember "Why you should know about Greg Reid"?
4* guard Aubrey Phillips Committed to the Noles at Halftime of his basketball game!
That now gives FSU 20 commitments. Remember, however, that Jenkins (DE) is an early entry, and that Stork (TE) counts towards the class of 2010. I'd be shocked to see us take more than 4 more guys for the 2009 class (currently at 18).
Here are our commits (in the order they should sign their letters of intent "LOI'S")

Still in Play
9 AM: Andre Debose. Wideout. 5* Signed with Florida.
10 AM: Gary Brown. 5* DT from Quincy, FL.
Big man decided to go be irrelevant in Gainesville instead of making it to the NFL under O'dell. This one hurts because a lot of reports indicated that he wanted to come here but momma wouldn't have it.
Noon: Jawanza Starling, 4* DB.
Very good talent, I don't think we have a shot.
Undetermined times:
Jumbo Athlete Dan Hicks (expected only as a greyshirt/ invited walk on). We will sign Hicks.
Next week: Orson Charles (not done with visits)
Your Job
When you head that a kid has signed his letter, post it in the comment section. I don't care where you heard it, so don't say "such and such reports that". Just say "it's signed". We'll get a confirmation, and then update the chart.
Final Thought
Good luck today. I'll be very busy tomorrow, with 3 classes and rehab for the shoulder surgery. Whatever happens, remember to conduct yourselves with composure and class. We might get a big surprise. We might lose Henry Orelus to WVU (personally, I hope he does go to WVU because we picked up Phillips). What matters is that we have done more in the last 24 hours than most schools will do today. I think we could realistically take up to three more prospects at this point, though it is very likely we don't take any new commitments. If I had said I was satisfied with this class on Sunday night, I would have been lying to you. If we don't take another player today, and lose nobody or Orelus, I'll honestly be able to call this class a massive success. This is one of the best recruiting jobs I've ever seen. It's all about production relative to resources. This staff produced despite being handcuffed by the ACC's reputation, the success of our major in-state rivals, pending coaching changes, and looming NCAA sanctions.
NOTE: There is no cursing in the comment section. If you get out of hand, we will ban you. The ultimate goal is to let people view this from work. If we need to give someone a suspension for being inappropriate in the comment section, we will. Tomahawk Nation doesn't tolerate those antics.

#5!
We have moved into the #5 spot in the rivals recruiting rankings, thanks to a 3-star, 4-star and 5-star committing yesterday.
Nice to see us up from like 13, which was where we were even after the Secord commitment.
If we get anyone else you’ve gotta think we stay in the top 5.
http://today.sportingnews.com/sportingnewstoday/20081229/?pg=2
We're 10 points above USC
Who may be losing a 5-star today.

Well this isn't how we wanted to start off signing day
but someone has to tell you all. Charles Orson has officially eliminated FSU.
Who would that be?
Is it just me or does the Reid commitment last night help make today feel like Christmas!?
I need to see an LOI from McDaniel, Haulstead, Reid, Pryor and McAllister and I’m going to go chug a Guinness at lunch.
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
Reid was the must-get.
It’s Christmas. Charles was my second a week or two ago, but that’s changed with the recent optimism regarding you-know-who and maybe someone-I-don’t-know-who/these-guys-messing-with-my-head-now-that-I’m-not-as-in-touch-as-I-used-to-be. I see other posts popping up about Charles – scholly limits, having to know now, etc., re: Charles makes sense.
If we get Gary Brown
Get out the defilulator!
…even though I don’t’ normally have heart problems.
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
Anyone who doesn't "get" NSD...
…has never won an Oscar for staring at his office computer, with faux intensity, pretending to work on the most sophisticated problem this company has ever seen.
LOL!!!
Exactly what I am doing right now my friend. I worked my ass off yesterday just so I’d be super caught up for today. My only annoyance is the phone on occassion…
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
64, do you know why Charles eliminated us??
Thought we’d be a finalist given his close relationship with Coley.

Scholly Limits
I think it has to do with the coaches telling him to make a choice today or he doesnt have a scholarship. If we dont sign one of Debose or Brown maybe you see this scholarship go to Hicks?
If Hicks gets a scholarship offer for the fall I will be disappointed.
Having him wait a year will be best for all parties involved.
It’s more likely that if we miss on everybody else Orelus keeps his offer and chooses us over WVU.
Did not get into details
just said that FSU has been eliminated,
Debose is a Gator
Both Rivals and Scout are saying he’s faxed in his LOI to UF
Funny how every year the Gators get all 28 of their LOI's faxed in immediately.
And even though Gatorbait can’t update anything else, they can get their commitment/LOI page together before 8am.
I'll keep an eye on Seminoles.com for their updates as well.
Remember, they may be a lot slower, but we know if a name is on their list then that player is ours.
Remember, the athletic department doesn’t discuss or highlight prospects we won’t sign.
Any chance we get another uncomitted recruit today??
I dont see us landing Starling or Brown but some popele are saying is a definite possibility
You ever have a gut feeling...
Not like “I’m 95% certain this will happen.”
More like, if it were to happen you would look back in hindsight and say “I knew it” but that doesn’t mean you’ve entirely convinced yourself.
Reid LOI
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
I have known since annoucement last night
but am just excited about Reid. It makes it even better that he was once a Gator commit!
I am apparently computer illiterate today because I have been trying to update the main story for 10 minutes for Haulstead and Reid.
I was in there adding the bulleted list and crossing off debose a little while ago
I may have overriden your changes. Sorry.
Anyhow, you could always just copy one of the green ‘Yes’ and copy it over to the other prospect.
Good call!!
Whenever I hit publish it wouldn’t.
I noticed you had taken care of the Debose stuff.
Great work with the format, btw.
Btw... the Seminoles' official website has updated to include Bright and Phillips.
If you doubt everything else in the world, you can trust that list.
I'm a newbie here...
but it’s damned good to see folks who are just as excited about this whole process, and even more so by the looks of it.
Shucks
Turning Brown would have take us from very good to great.
Good news there.
Maybe you can get some extras out of it, too.
“Can you pick me up some lunch, I’m busy checking up on your team.”
Justin Bright 6-0, 180, S Duncan, SC (Byrnes)
Willie Downs 6-2, 192, WR Tallahassee, FL (Godby)
Willie Haulstead 6-3, 210, WR Titusville, FL (Titusville)
Brandon Jenkins 6-2, 230, DE Tallahassee, FL (Florida High)
C.J. Mizzell 6-2, 212, LB Tallahassee, FL (Leon)
Aubrey Phillips 6-6, 310, OT Olive Branch, MS (Olive Branch)
Lonnie Pryor 6-1, 195, RB Okeechobee, FL (Vero Beach)
Will Secord 6-3, 204, QB Frisco, TX (Wakeland)
Rodney Smith 6-6, 208, WR Miami, FL (Archbishop Carroll)
Shocker???
Is there going be any shockers this year? Ones we thought we had but lost or didnt think we had and got. Any opinions
Apparently not
Can anybody remember a signing day when most if not all the suspense was gone by 9:30 a.m.????
There won't be a shocker as in BIG Time
more likely a shocker as in who that hell is that guy.
Last time that happened...
We got Smiley, McCloud, and Ty Jones.
I like Jones a lot and McCloud may be better than McDaniel, McAllister, McCray, and Brown.
Soflafootball.com is reporting that...
Phillip Thomas was supposed to announce at 9:30… didnt have a Syracuse hat… just a UM bandana…
anyone have any news?
From Luke...
Stopped by Miami Edison to see Phillip Thomas. No Syracuse hat, only a ’Cuse bandana. Will sign at 9:30.
I'm surprised we didn't have a plan B at DT
Sounds like Brown was a coin flip, but you’d think we’d have some insurance given how thin that position is.
who?? just kidding....
all that bickering for Hosley and Byrd can be thrown out the window now with Reid.
Tomahawk
Guys – I’m new here – was on Warchant years ago. Just wanted to say you do a hell of a job. Go Noles.
Thank god!
Come on Jaccobi, you’re killin’ me!
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
They already have a small army of quick little shifty bastards down there
But one less is always a good thing.
That's what I am reading...
UT looks like they may bring in a handful of talented guys. It doesn’t hurt to have just about every position open for competition, either.
Btw... if you're wondering why I don't think we have a numbers crunch...
Check out Clemson’s commitment list:
http://clemson.rivals.com/commitlist.asp?school=13
Has their list always been that short?
How much are we going to be hearing about their walk-ons now?
What about Hopkins?
"I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one gets to the Father but through me"
Hmm... Dre Kirkpatrick
Why isn’t he on the Bama recruit list anymore?
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
Can't find Dre anywhere on the boards...
What’s up with that?
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
Silent?
FSU with the little tiny bar at the bottom… actually the frontrunner? Biggest steal of the recruiting season?
A man can dream…
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
That would be a shocker indeed but I doubt it.

What time was Dre going to sign
?
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
If Starling came our way... maybe a "Yahtzee" is due.
…but now that I’ve said it hypothetically it’s ruined. Sorry to steal from your bag of zingers.
I see ya FSU!
Worst. Catch-phrase. Ever.
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
that was a top 5 moment for me this past football season...
listening to Floyd say that over and over again. i think i almost pissed my pants laughing out loud
WOOO HOOO!
Guinness time.

Who is the surprised? Or rather what is his caliber and position if you know.

I thought we had a decent chance at taking 3 star FB Cory Akins from Madison.
http://floridastate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=76600
With sub-4.5 speed, he’s really just a big back.
A little dissapointed about not getting Debose or Brown but
I love this class. Good to see most of our guys getting their LOI in this morning. Now lets hope they all qualify!
Akins??
if he were to sing with us is he waiting for us to give him the green light (cue Andre 3000 and John legend in the background) are we waiting on somebody else??
I know he's supposed to be retired...
…but if we sign the rest of our commits, do you think there’s any way DNWD can make one more encore appearance to help celebrate this class?
(laughing)
They should probably save him for the Draft. But hey, I just threw it out there, that’s all.

God I love NSD. I feel like a 5 year old…
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
I'm disappointed that no one did a TBS time and went with 2:05 or 2:35.
Those are all in CST by the way.
Dre?
So you’re really feeling that good about Dre?
Not really
Just think its pretty odd he’s not on the Alabama list anymore…
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
We won't get another of the Cromartie breed anytime soon.
That’s like winning Lucky 7’s and Liberty Bells twice in the same day.
Dude if I won the lottery I would totally use all my money to buy tickets in a bigger lottery somewhere else.
Then when I win that one, I could use that money to buy Powerball tickets.
Once I win the Powerball, I can invest it all in a company that promotes lotteries and keep buying tickets so that my stock value increase.
It’s foolproof.
So... this class is great
But aren’t we missing a kicker?
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
I'm guessing we were all thinking the exact same thing at the exact same time.
He shaves once a week whether he needs to or not.
Dustin kicked his LOI to Tallahassee from Houston.
There’s a little wind resistance so it might take longer than expected.
As long as he splits the uprights and kicks it out of the endzone he can have the face and voice of tiny tim from a christmas carol and I'm still good.
“God bless us, every one.”
"I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one gets to the Father but through me"
Recruiting and Super Bowl
We should have been calling after the super bowl (probably were), “Hey player X, did you see how many FSU players played in this superbowl, and how few UF players were there”
I’m not sure, but as far as active players, I believe FSU had the most.
I can't believe Gary chose UF.
He must not have been watching Docket completely dominate the steeler’s line…
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
My friend said
Gary Brown told our coaches this Sunday that he was coming to FSU.
Bummer…
Wonder what happened?
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
Good call.
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
Unfortunately
There is still some dislike for FSU by supporters of FAMU in the area (a racial divide i guess). It’s ridiculous, and I wish it weren’t there. I personally try to support any of the local schools. I don’t know if this is the case, but it wouldn’t surprised if this was part of the reason his was pushed to go to UF. Otherwise, why would you push your kid further away?
He was watching Gerard Warren...
totally dominate on that Raiders line… no.. wait. They weren’t playing.
On our way to 1000 posts, how about we work on these guys' nicknames?
CJ “I want to eat your unborn baby … and then punch his daddy in the face” Mizell. Yes. All of that. I’m just going off the little I know about these guys and their pictures. I think I could gather the punching someone in the face just from his picture alone though.
I hope he doesn’t see Hopkins as the unborn baby…. could be bad for special teams practice.
So.... Charles isn't
signing today? How lame is that? Stop thinking about it so much and just sign with us.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
wow....
missed that…too many comments to read.
So Georgia is leading for him then?
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Sadly, I think UF has a better shot than most think.
Apparently shovel passes to the inside are his cup of tea.
Apparently
Orson Charles has been a silent FSU commit for 3 weeks now…
Wonder why he eliminated us?
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
UGA was pissed about...
losing Reid to us and called him last night to tell him to eliminate us or his ship would be yanked, jk.
Probably so.
Even if it doesn’t mean anything you want the kid to have the experience of signing at his high school.
Is there anyway to listen to full coverage of NSD
on the internet?
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Could you link that please.....?
I can’t find it.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
I think FSU should look past Lincoln for a few years
Hopefully we don’t scratch their back too much as they are obviously not up for returning the favor. USC has swept in for their best prospect 2 years in a row now.
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
What do people think about Aubrey playing DL?
Wasn’t Auburn and some other schools looking at him as DT? He’s a big boy, I’d think he could plug some holes with some coaching.
Not if we are making the mistake of putting both McCallister and McDaniel
in the middle.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
I like Phillips on the OL.
If he can move like Trickett likes, the added weight/size will only further complicate a pass rush
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
He's large.
Aubrey has potential to be Forrest Connolly/Tra Thomas size. Trickett won’t let him get that big, but if he were to buck his training plan and eat lots of PROTEIN! HGH! POWER BARS! (See “My New Haircut” on youtube for reference) and snickers and french fries, etc then he could be a monster.
McCloud as a junior + McAllister + McDaniel
the McAttack™ – I can already see cheesy puns being made by ESPN announcers
Oh yeah. If we could figure out a way to get those 4 at the same time.
It’d be epic. What are the chances?
This is probably the most...
I’ve kept up with recruiting on NSD..I’m impressed…It looks like we’ve done a great job building the relationships with the recruits that have committed. Doesn’t look like we’re losing any (fingers crossed)…Sure, there are some we don’t get that we want, but everybody has those.
Here is a bootlegged
link to ESPNU for those who are at work doing absolutely nothing (me).
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Are you serious?
Jk, I know he has talent but he played against bonified Fla JV competition in high school, he is a lot like Myron. Great kid, will do great things off the field, just not on it.
Undersized...
played against senators sons in high school, soft is being kind. I have been saying he will be a bust for a while and will happily eat crow if wrong.
Well....
hate to disagree with you, but he is going to be a dominant force on defense. Dude flys, hits hard and has great football IQ. He is going to get bigger in a college weight program and he is only going to play situationaly his first year.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Florida State has had some EXTREMELY
talented undersized LB’s. You can’t write him off due to his size.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
I've submitted my question
and i’m waiting. Seems like they are struggling to get him to come on. Hopefully he shows up to practice on time.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
UGA has all 17 commits signed. UF still lacking three per Rivals.
Rumored on here earlier Nu’Keese goes to Knoxville. Can we get ONE Pahokee recruit next year? Just to say we got one? Please. I don’t know where they sent their seniors this year, but I hope they aren’t scattered about the ACC. Amato has got to go before we steal any I’m guessing.
3:30 eastern... Reid
Buzzmaster: (11:12 AM ET ) Yes. He was just on SportsCenter signing.
SportsNation Buzzmaster: (11:15 AM ET ) Sorry folks. Looks like Greg got tied up with some school work. We’ll get him back on at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Schoolwork
LOVE TO HEAR IT! Screw ESPN, hit those books Reid. We’ll get an interview at the ACC Championship game.
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
Ok...
Thomas sent LOI by FSU. Cuse hasnt got the one he signed yet.
Prior to Marshall looks very possible (fine by me)
I feel really bad for Phillip
He really wanted to be a Nole. We need guys like that.
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
That is one perspective.
But ask yourself, after being hung out to dry and treated like you’re insignificant by Coach Manboobs on several occassions, would you really want to be on a team, playing on his side of the ball, and listen to him?
Thomas felt slighted, and so he should have. If the other coaches would have over-ruled or simply ignored Chuck, Thomas would have signed. Thomas was in Chuck’s recruiting area so its not like there were other options – for example coaches like Dawsey or Coley who would have kept their word to visit him…
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
I work with high-schoolers on a daily basis...
In general, they don’t have very good social skills with adults and media.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
We also have the highest rated 4-star by Rivals (Downs)
Who, if he makes it on campus, is a 5 star player.
And C.J. Mizell, who Rivals acknowledged would have been 5 stars if he hadn’t had the… incident.
All things considered, we have a superb class.
Alright folks...I have to bail.
Have a great NSD. Go Noles.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"

That story disappeared
faster than you can say boom goes the dynamite, that school has been going downhill for awhile, no administrative control.
I really think
It was because the teacher was a reasonably attractive female. Reasonably enough that most of society just figured “good work, dude” and “where were these when I was in school?”
Ya...
but any teacher that does that has issues, and as a man I cant help but thing about the double standards going on, if it were a male teacher he would be locked up for 5 years.
HS football coach near where I live
Who played for the patriots had a relationship with a 14 year old girl.
He is going away for a long time.

Good
I am just saying punishment should be the same for females, they usually get off, lol, in more ways than one.
If we don't get Hopkins a lot is going to be missing from this class.
With special teams wreaking up the field, we need someone who can put it into touchback territorry (without the line drives)
"I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one gets to the Father but through me"
We got him

How is rivals ranking Ray Ray over Downs?
I’d take Willie easily over Ray Ray.
He and Jelani Jenkins are way overrated, and I’d say that if they went to FSU even. Well not FSU, but anywhere else.

Hey Golic...
“Yeeeeeeeees Greenie?”
“Your kid sucks at football and at life.”
“I’ll just go eat a doughnut.”

Is the secret big recruit still in? Or was it Phillips? Great day for us, I really wanted Charles though. I can’t believe we STILL can’t land a stud TE. We run a single back offense…we need good TEs!!!
I was happy we got Little last year
I think we’re okay with TE.
I think the only other guy we get is Hicks. MAYBE Startling, but those are the only 2 left.
I believe 64 meant Brown as the big recruit.

The double reverse super secret recruit would have been Brown or Debose.
Debose earlier in the week, Brown lately.
UGA was pissed..
about last night and called Charles to tell him to drop us or lose his ship, kidding.
Gatorbait has a way of being incredibly prompt with their updates on players signing with UF.
And incredibly slow on players that don’t.
Who was it? Debose?

Brown
He did visit with Bowden and he talked to Odell about 3 times a week on the phone. He is going to UF because of his mom.
Brown told our coaching staff
He was going to commit this past Sunday.
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
just my opinion..
Wish him the best and move on. We have heard many times when recruits read these things to see how fans react. IMHO we stay classy and hope the next time a mom has objections, she realizes the class involved with being a Nole that would be impossible to attain as a Gator.
Just my .02
All I'll say in the matter is that perhaps we should have included a segment on Whitney Lewis in "Dear Gary Brown"
His career and future turned out great after his mother forced him to be somewhere he didn’t want to be.
Not so much
that he dislike FSU, it’s what she was offered by UF.
what SHE was offered by UF?
As said before, I’m new to all this. If she was offered anything that’s gotta be illegal unless it’s in regard to season tickets or something.
haha,
A little different though, but in all honesty a 19 kid is going to be a lot more physically mature then a 17 year kid.
Escalade?
Those are what Bama hands out… I wonder what UF digs out of the pockets…
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
We arent much better.
Not only that, they would be allowed to park wherever they wanted (Rix in handicap spot aside) and never get tickets.
I would see them hop the curb often when I had class in Tully.
What the F
How about letting the kids decide where they want to go.
What could she NOT like about FSU? Does she not like a great coach? Not like the possiblity of being a 1st round pick? A multi millionair? Doesn’t want her son close to him?
http://today.sportingnews.com/sportingnewstoday/20081229/?pg=2
I will just say
that his mom is a lot better off finically then she was prior to Gary being recruited by UF and I will leave it at that.
If she has cash from them she has all the leverage
She still gets it if Gary goes to FSU. If UF tries to get it back then she cries wolf and they will see sanctions that makes FSU laugh.

Starling = I don't know, but probably not us
“I licked a teacher and had to get out of the area because of it”
Just leaves
Downs (how schools is doing an announcement at 1pm) and Prior.
Linemen
1. I read on an Arky board a couple days ago that Aubrey Phillips wanted his first shot to be at Defensive Tackle and he’d switch to the OL if that didn’t work out. Anyone know anything about this?
2. Is it not looking good for John Prior?
Burfict to Arizona State
Sorry Trojans.

is that really a tough decision for prior? a Non-BCS school over FSU?

We kind of agreed that we can't really hide Jacobbi's commitment
So it’s probably not because we’re trying to entice somebody with our depth chart. Just haven’t been able to figure out what’s going on.
Jacobbi = no drama
Only drama left is Starling and Hicks.

i'm interested in
seeing if we get Dan Hicks….I think warchant had him on defense. interesting prospect.
Like I said...
No more favors for Lincoln High. They need to earn their way back into FSU’s good graces.
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
Starling to
USC. Back to back year USC picks FSU backyard
and no Thomas to replace him.
I won’t let this go. If I was allowed to be an editor on this site I would keep a Phillip Thomas column going. Maybe I will create a few accounts to rec my own posts and keep them as featured fanposts. We will have up to the minute updates on the status of him. We can link it to firechuckamato.com too.
starling will play baseball, apparently
weird
http://today.sportingnews.com/sportingnewstoday/20081229/?pg=2
warchant listing Rhodes as a WR/DB now
i guess the writing is on the wall. he moves to DB we’ve really filled our needs.
i still think he ends up WR, though. part of his things is that he idolized Dwayne Bowe, who went to Norland and then played for Jimbo.
Better Pete Carroll
than Meyer or Shannon or Richt, imo.
Offensive Line
Wow, Trickett built that thing up quick. We have stockpiled a lot of really good players in just two years.
Btw... it looks like the reason Seminoles.com couldn't update our list is because they were busy posting terrifying pictures of recruits.
Kicked off his Georgia high school team during sophmore year.
Allegedly beat the crap out of his coach.
Coach may have said some things that decent human beings don’t say, but he was a Gator and that gives CJ a free pass to me.
So what are people's thoughts on where our class ends up ranking?
"I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one gets to the Father but through me"
I'm disappointed
I read a lot about Teo and he seemed like a really good person. Would have been happy for him to be in L.A. winning Pac-10 titles. Now, he goes to ND, which is going no where. Too bad for him.
Did we do this well landing all of our commitments last year?
Did we lose any big players on NSD? I’d like to see something unexpected today, but I can’t complain…our excitement came last night i suppose.
Last year we missed on Jamie Harper, TJ Bryant, and Julio Jones within like 30 minutes of each other.
It was a kick in the groin.
yeah, i remember jones....he never committed to us though. Wish we could have landed him.
he made an immediate impact and was a monster this year.
Didn't Stinson just say FSU back in the summer...
to get the media off his back? He never seemed to be a real commitment.
Yeah, he never really felt like a commit. Didn't he commit without even stepping foot on campus?
That’s why I said “maybe” – From day 1 I didn’t think the kid was a Nole
Yes
It happens often. Some may need to up their GPA or SAT scores before FSU will let them enroll. If they don’t, then they got to prep school or juco for 2 years.
We have several last year in this situation: British Footman, Travis ARnold, Debrale Smiley, Amp McCloud.
For icing on the cake,
could Spetman announce a 5 year extension on Trickett? That would be swell.
Best player all around or most vital to our team?
Best player is Demonte I think. Greg Reid could REALLY fill a void.
I'm not going to issue 500 best qualifications/stipulations like a warchanter...
but when i look at the 2006 class, for instance, I see lots of busts and way down on the list there are Dekoda Watson and Christian Ponder.
Wow… looking at that list is so disappointing. Warren, Rose, McDaniel, Ball
CJ Mizell
That kid is a 5 star talent but his character is sketchy.
by Legal_Seminole on Feb 4, 2009 12:49 PM EST up reply actions
"his character is sketchy" No its not...
The coach who cornered a high school kid to provoke a reaction is sketchy.
I think its funny he got his butt kicked. You don’t throw the N word out if you’re not prepared to take a thrashing.
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
Slot
I think he will be a slot player and a return man.

Orson Charles?
Anyone know why he dropped us, we have serious problems recruiting in Tampa, save a few guys.
I'm not sure we were willing to wait....?
Pure speculation, but there would be no other reason that I could think of.
Negative Recruiting
and lack of use of the TE. People just got in his ear and he listened.
I don't have a Warchant account....
I know someone who works in the front office at FSU.
well so far so good.
At work just wanted to look at what was going on. From the looks of this we are going to have a strong class after all.
So what does Amato do on a day like today?
Fisher: “Um… Chuck? What are you doing?”
Clown: “Oh… I was just giving Greg Reid a call to congratulate him.”
Fisher: “Uh. No. How about you don’t pick up a phone at all today.”
Clown: “But…”
Fisher: “Yeah, we’re gonna need you to move your desk down to the B Level.”
Clown: “But that’s the basement.”
Fisher: “I know.”
Clown: “Is that my stapler?”
stick him in the basement room
where the academic advisors for sports management work. He can stick to online poker, or maybe go listen to the theory and practice of football class that happens two doors down.
No big surprise yet.
Just two more will sign LOI’s today. We still have room for one or two more so anything can happen. If I hear i will post here.
My freshman class is looking Great!
I can’t wait to be seniors with all these guys, man I hope we can get a NC while im in school.
Expect one of the signings to be someone we already knew about...
and just figured he’d wait until tomorrow.
This tells me our coaches didn’t get some people they thought they would.
Who recruited him outside of Urban?
Strong?
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
YOu mean the recruiting reception
Or whatever is called I went to it last year when I was still in Tally and it was amazing.
Why are they gonna show his highlights since they thought he was gonna be in the class??
Also...
Just chiming back in but did Starling go USC?
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
ok there you go
seminoles.com has been updated and there is jacobbi
Yeah
Stork and Hicks. Then whoever we can pull, if any.
Means they agree ...
….with what was said.
Or, it’s a three-point play
In my case...
I just mean it as there was 1 extra guy committed. Didn’t say his name because Warchant loves their premium stuff.
So....
more of the same. No big play TE’s, good blockers and average pass catchers.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Either way....
he isn’t going to contribute much for a few years.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Good...
Because I didn’t want to get banned by Mean Gene for asking a question about a story on the front page…
That is so lame…
So Hicks is Grayshirted?
DUSTIN HOPKINS IS OFFICIAL. WE CAN BACK AWAY FROM THE LEDGE.
I STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT WE ARE YELLING ABOUT.
Do you really love lamp?
Or are you just naming things in the room?
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
... He can send me a postcard from Cal.
And Taiwan Easterling too.
It didn’t help that there was a Taiwan Easterling and an Antwan Easterling that day.
I was so confused.
He signed with Colorado
after comitting to cal yesterday or two days ago…apparently decision making is not one his traits.
Thats good.
although it still erks me when USC gets them all. Darn Pete Carroll..
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
For sure....
and its great news for now. However….if and when we start competing for the national title again, we can’t be letting usc steal them either.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
What?
You pooped in the refrigerator? And you ate the whole… wheel of cheese? How’d you do that? Heck, I’m not even mad; that’s amazing.
Barkley going to compete for the starting job?
or is Carrol trying to develop the players for a year or two?
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
The whole Brown situation pisses me off
If the kid really wanted to be a Nole his mom should have backed off of him.
Though for the last week or so
all of yall have speculated that his mom wouldn’t let him be anywhere else.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Brown was my surprise
he committed to an FSU coach last night. His mom would not sign the FSU LOI.
What I am skeptical of is that he would
have committed last night and signed elsewhere today.
He would have known his mom wouldn’t let him sign. Unless he was doing it strictly to tick of FSU coaches which is a great possibility now that he is a Gator.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Believe what you want to
and it really doesn’t matter now anyways, but he did commit to Odell last night.
One of the best classes in a long time.
Either Gary Brown or Debose could have sent this class through the stratosphere. Orson Charles would help. Watching the gates lose a few is almost as good as signing them yourself.
Now back to my regularly scheduled program of hammering Herban.

Just looked up who recruited Brown...
Chuck Heater…the saftey coach at UF. He hit on a few really good players and missed on Starling and an OT that went to USC.
UF obviously trusted him with a lot.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Some kids know how to make friends.
I dont mind kids changing there minds, but on signing day, thats harsh. I know we have benefited from this in the past, I just dont like it.
is from warchant
pretty sure is premium info and if I give it away before is public they will ban me.
Heh
Why don’t we just wait until he passes.
As far as giving out the information to the masses: If what has been said about Willie Downs is true, he will probably qualify. There’s your good news.
I heard that Downs will play safety on defense... he had a press conference.
Kid is very close to qualifying, needs only two classes.
note: I guess Warchant has this. I'm banned from there, so I obviously didn't get this from WC
Gene’s not the only source in Tally
Love the format of the post and all the info of the athletes, great work.
Any way to add the recruit’s high schools to the list? I’m curious…
