I received numerous instant messages that Lakeland, FL (Kathleen High School) Defensive Back Chad Abrams has committed to the 'Noles. I can't confirm this, because I'm busy at the moment, but I'll retract this if it is untrue. Someone named "fsuty42" also posted it on his youtube page. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ItgNzOPAJw He's 5'11" and 189 and will play safety. I think he's a major hitter, with decent but not great breaks on the ball. Very good runner after the INT. Kid just looks like a good football player.

Abrams
53 yard interception return against St. Lucie West in October. Sealed the game winner in a 21-10 win.
Looks college ready in this pic.
Good frame...
He does wait on the ball a little too much. That’s a fixable problem though.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Is this a sleeper recruit?
I haven’t seen his name mentioned anywhere. Maybe he got an offer now that LaMarcus Joyner is looking elsewhere? From tharinger.com:
Blockquoted paragraph 3/12/09 USC offered Lamarcus Joyner. His top five(In order) is: Ohio State, Bama, Florida, USC, Florida State. He will try to visit OSU for their spring game.
That's from 3/12, Joyner recently said that we'd never drop out of the top 5.
I’m not confident he is coming, but we are a contender.
Also, Joyner plays corner, and this guy is a safety all the way.
Tharinger had us the leader for Joyner prior to the NCAA nonsense.
Which would be a huge blow IMO.
Back to the topic at hand, I just watched Abrams video and he looks nasty, with speed to boot. Do we have any indication of his 40 time?
On Joyner, I assume.
I was talking about the Abrams kid.

Joyner
Let’s make this clear:
- He was never “ours to lose”
- He won’t decide until March (will be post-signing day)
- We will have to work our tails off to get him (any school will)
I didn't think he was "ours to lose"
…but both Scout and Tharinger had FSU as his #1 in February. Now FSU is listed last. I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’.
That was on March 12th. Our coaches have talked to him since then, thanks to our site.
Also… I do not trust scout. At all. I’m more inclined to believe whatever they say is completely wrong.
Really?
I thought you guys liked Scout. Anyway, tharinger seems pretty on top of things.
Did you ever call Jimbo and talk to him in person? Or did word just get around?
Scout called Jimbo to Auburn a done deal in December. Totally unreliable.

we sign
on or before signing day. Thinking about commiting early like in late Fall
Yeah, I just figured that out.
Well, that or he’s a really good impostor…
Are we looking to pull someone else?
ala Justin Bright/Gerald Demps last year.
Bright was an offer to pull someone else.
Demps, that wasn’t the case. Our coaches think he is a legit prospect (as do I). Demps was offered and committed in March 2008. Greg Reid committed to Florida in Feb. 2008. Greg didn’t show interest in us until after the Under Armour All Star game.
I do not know of any prospects on Kathleen we would want.

I agree about Demps being legit.
But I don’t think we pull Reid without him.
I disagree
Demps and Reid aren’t close friends… Tommy Tubberville was more instrumental in us signing Reid than Demps was

Who said anything about close friends?
I didn’t realize jumbo had tuberville on staff…
He gave a speech at the UnderArmour ALL-Star game that inspired GR to look around.

So, Demps had nothing to do with Reid committing...
even though they played together at the same hs, on the same side of the ball, and at basically the same position. Ok. If you believe that one, let me tell you about this hedge fund I run…
Nothing? Why then did he have no interest until he went to an event where Demps was not?

We're all using assumptions here...
but I just don’t see the logic behind Mr. Bloggers statement. If Tubberville’s speech was truly more instrumental than Reid’s own teammate & classmate, then the kid’s an idiot and he won’t last long anyway.
Maybe Tubberville’s speech got the ball rolling, but he had nothing to do with Reid actually committing to FSU. That was all Jimbo. If I were Jimbo, I definitely would have pointed out the fact that Demps was coming to Tallahassee and would have used that as a selling point. At the end of the day, I think FSU had the edge over UGA because of Demps (and the chance to play early of course).
As FSUsom says above,
Bright doesn’t deserve a scholarship to any BCS conference school outside of Duke, Stanford, or Northwestern. The guy is slow and tiny.
Demps is an excellent prospect, and ESPN called him our 5th best recruit last year.
I agree about Bright.
I have seen nothing about him that makes me think he can play at a high level here.
On the Joyner front: I think we have a much better chance than some are saying.

well I hate Lakeland
Lakeland is my UF. I never played at FSU but in high school Lakeland and St Thomas were the two teams we just could beat in St or the playoffs. That being said I will take any Def players that are good. This kid looks like a ball hawk. He reads the ball and jumps it very will it seems. he has some nice hips and seems fast too. Good hands and is able to hit. I love to see a SS that like to hit like a LB.
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
He didn't go to Lakeland
He went to Kathleen which is in Lakeland, not the same school as the Lakeland High Dreadnoughts (awesome team name by the way)

I hate to sound ungrateful, but I was hoping for C Green or Jones

I hate to be negative but Phillip Thomas >>>>>> Chad Abrams.
Looks like they will play different positions in college though.

Can I change my tune?
Apparently some DBs won’t be on the roster when Abrams gets here, and that was my concern.
