In an argument with a Gator... help!
Alright...I have a good friend (and Gator) coming to visit. I need some good ammo on "Why FSU is better than UF." I need all kinds of sports info (number of NFL pros from FSU versus UF, etc.), academic statistical info, anything that the Tomahawk nation can give me. I am an alumni and die hard FSU fan; I already know we are smarter and classier than any gator...I just need some hard data. Thanks in advance for your help.

That should do the trick.
A lot of folks read us during the day only, so we might not get this answered until tomorrow morning. I’ll link it on the main page.

You could pull up the stats I did on Bowden vs. Meyer back in January (was it?).
"I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one gets to the Father but through me"
Beware of using my subjective "classier" arguement unless you have stuff to back it up.... even though its pretty much a given you cant argue with ignorance.

She couldn't put together one correct sentence
Go gator!
Quick fact check… lmao

You could mention a few things about this year's basketball teams:
You could congratulate them on their #1 seed in the NIT tournament and then their subsequent loss to Penn St, who scored a whopping 39 points in a win over Illinois.
You could also mention that we beat them in December 57-55 when they were nationally ranked and no one knew that we had a basketball team.
Mention that we were a 5 seed in the NCAA tournament, had the ACC Coach of the Year, ACC Defensive Player of the Year, 2 players on the All -ACC defensive team and a member of the All ACC Freshman team.
Slippery argument though due to their recent national championships in basketball. However, they haven’t beaten us in basketball since 2006…hmmm.
Tell him how amazed you were at all the Gators playing the pro bowl this year

That’s why they don’t think it’s a big deal for Tebow’s SAT score, he’s average! lol
That said, it pisses me off that my 2nd school comes in #2 in the bottom 10.

Gotta try and take the high road
admit they had once in a decade collection of talent in basketball (and the luck that they stuck around), i’ve found this is a good way to negate the superiority complex UF fans possess while playing down their second championship.
Then with football make up a story about how Tebow kills nuns in the Philippines, until things change at FSU that’s all i’ve got for that one, besides the number of years it took them to get their championships compared to ours.

WIRE to WIRE NC
Best argument ever!
Ask him about his favorite game in their undefeated season. Oh they don’t have one? awwww
Also remind them we’ve only been playing football for half as long as they have.
The Gates already had their perfect season.
1904. Of course, they’ll say that it doesn’t count. But, then again, these are the same people who won’t acknowledge they even fielded a football team prior to 1990. So, you can go ahead and take that for whatever it’s worth.

take a bat hit him in the head
then tell him “what are you talking about becoming a gator fan you’ve always been a nole.” Then take a shotgun to his house and tell everyone you will kill them if they dont go with the plan.

FSU has a 3-1 girl to guy ratio.
I don’t believe females attend UF…
'Gentlemen, it is better to have died a small boy than to fumble this football.' John Heisman
And we have a winner.
I’ve yet to meet a heterosexual male who’s had a problem with FSU once being a “girl’s school.” It has paid dividends.
FSU has a better Library Science program according to US News. Actually I don’t think UF has a Library Science program, but let’s not mention that. Does anyone know if FSU actually ranks higher in anything else? I know FSU is competitive in Law and Chemistry, but UF still gets the slight edge. Really FSU needs to work on increasing its rank in all the college rankings.
UF students love to throw up their high school GPAs and SAT scores as examples of superiority. However, those speak nothing of the quality of the education you recieve at UF. The rankings are what really matter. Yes, it’s difficult to quantify education quality, but the rankings are all we have and at least they give schools a reason to improve themselves.
This reminds me, I was going to make post about this one of these days at Warchant, but I’ll do it here. I think FSU needs to continue to expand the campus so it can increase enrollment, build other colleges, and maybe a research hospital in the future when Tallahassee is larger. So, to help out, I do not support any of the businesses immidiately surrounding FSU. This lowers the value of the property, which should allow FSU to more easily obtain the property one day. Am I crazy?
not related
I notice they made the ‘post’ and ‘preview’ buttons rounder than before.

better looking girls is clearly #1
Tallahassee is a significantly better city as well
other than UFs got FSU pretty much wooped. Im biased towards SEC, but Im also transferring to TCC in the fall so I say Im pretty fair and balanced.
im not impressed with your performance
I also think
Chief Osceola and Renegade would hand Albert the UF Gator his A$$ hands down. and that is why you should Fear the Spear.

Plus...
The inside of our stadium isn’t painted up like tween’s bedroom. I half expect to see Jonas Brothers posters hanging on those hideous orange walls every time I gaze upon that architectural abortion.

Haha!
Yeah, UF colors are hideous clown colors.
wow I think I get what you are saying
Chuck needs to go to UF because he would look better in the UF clown colors.

This would have been a simple question three years ago - now it shows how Bowden killed this program from the inside.
Kill a fly with an axe - Mickey Andrews, his 1998 playbook
Sadly, this is true.
At least as far as athletics goes. Because people in the south only care about football, and it’s becoming more and more difficult to win the argument as Florida’s piled up MNC’s the last three years, as nationally-debated and one-loss fugly as they were, with absolutely no real response from Florida State. Still we’ve done more with far less and in far shorter of a time period than the Gates would have ever dreamed possible. But unfortunately, the only argument we’ll have left after next year is that we were the first to win a wire-to-wire undefeated national championship, and not the third, and we did it against a legitimate schedule (NCAA ranked it 6th in ‘99) and not the cupcake buffet the Gates have served up for themselves a decade later. But that won’t seem like much when they celebrate their third MNC in four years, with their two-time douchebag of a Heisman trophy winner that we all claim to dislike so much, but yet not one person with any power at Florida State has shown any real desire to put in his place on the football field. Oh, the party they’ll throw when he pounds us on Senior Day.
Some people get so mad at those of us who want real change at Florida State. Well, how does it feel when a little dose of reality smacks you hard across the face? Some of us faced that reality about five years ago, some longer, some maybe just last year. But we’re not mean, we’re not negative, we simply hate the ******* ****eating Gators just like the rest of you, and I’m convinced we hate them a whole lot more, because we’re sick of the way things are going right now, while some of you are sick of the way Bowden’s being treated by a couple of harmless folks on the internet. Well, I’m sick and damn tired of the way Bowden’s treating us. I’m sick and tired of Hot Dogs for Jeffy™. I’m sick and tired of going to bat for Bobby’s wins. And I’m sick and tired of losing by 30 points to our most hated rival in the stadium I love surrounded by rednecks covered from head to toe in orange-and-blue rain gear because our own head coach can’t even instill confidence in the most blindly loyal fanbase in the history of college football.
I’m aware FSUjab stopped reading after the first paragraph, and my guess is CCNole probably thinks this is pointless because Bobby “doesn’t do anything anyway,” but c’mon guys, are there really people out there now that need to come online and ask US for advice on how to win an argument against some clown from UF? How is that possible! We’re Florida State, and they’re the University of Florida! Bobby Bowden’s legacy, or rather the destruction thereof, is how that’s possible. And the only reason you don’t read it at your favorite paysite is because they’re not allowed to say it. Bowden was a big piece of a very big puzzle that brought us this success over our rival, but he has absolutely no right to destroy what he helped create. If the original poster is still reading this, get your buddy in town and have the argument NOW, because you won’t win it in 2010. Oh, what a farewell party THAT will be.
Ok.
That one was decent. And, yes I read the whole thing. Your comments do seem easier to read when they’re not chock full of bolded phrases & italicized sarcasm. :)
My advice to the original poster is to not discuss sports with a Gator right now. They’ve owned us for 5 years, and we’re looking at 6 in a row as long as Rev. Tebow is healthy. Oh Lord, I’m praying for some sort of miracle on Nov. 28th, 2009. I’m hoping that Brandon Jenkins ends up riding Tebow like a birthday pony, but I’d be happy with an injury or some other act of God.
Bolding probation is much tougher than it looks.
(“Much” should be bolded.) It’s a process, not a cure.
I have a lot to do today
Otherwise I could probably write on book on this subject. A saturday night in Gainesville and then a satuday night in Tallahassee should answer anyone’s questions.
It is hard to tell the difference in Gainesville as far as gender is concerned. The crocodile Dundee hand check is very time consuming and socially disruptive.
