ACC Bye Update: March 4th

PrintToday I'm going to try to make it really simple. The best we can hope for in terms of a bye is to get the 4th seed.
If we beat Va Tech and Clemson beats Wake Forest, we get the 4 seed no matter what BC does.
If we beat Va Tech and Wake Forest beats Clemson, we need BC to lose at least one game.
If we lose to Va Tech and Clemson beats Wake Forest, we can't get a bye. We could go as low as 7, or as high as 5 depending on tonight's games between UNC-Va Tech and BC-NC State, as well as BC's game Sunday.
If we lose to Va Tech and Wake Forest beats Clemson, we need BC to lose at least one game and it doesn't matter if Va Tech wins or loses against UNC.
Conclusion: Might as well cheer for NC State tonight, because a BC loss just helps us in too many ways. We should hope UNC beats Va Tech as well, because that guarantees us at least the 6 seed.

PPS- If we don't have stuff go our way tonight (ie, at LEAST a Va Tech loss), I'll be convinced I'm jinxed and will not look at the ACC standings for the rest of the season.

VT’s loss assures that we can finish no lower than 6th in the ACC.
A win or a Clemson loss gets us the 4.
Root for us hard on Sunday. Show up and be loud. If we win, cheer for Clemson two hours later because we will technically finish in 3rd place (losing the tie-breaker to Wake). If we lose, cheer for Wake Forest because we can still finish 4th if they win.
Not a good night for the bubble teams in the ACC
But a good night for FSU ACC seeding.
At this point, it looks like another Clemson rematch coming up in the tourney
I really would rather not play them again..
yes we took the season series but to beat the same team especially of Clemson’s talent is very unlikely. Not that i dont think we have the ability its just the odds aren’t in our favor
Only way we avoid them is if we lose to VT and they lose to Wake.
BC would be the 5 in that scenario, which I’d like better for our tourney run… but it’s not worth losing to VT for.

In all seriousness, I’ve been reading but unable to comment for the last few days, and I’ve been wanting to give kudos as I know an article like the original one you wrote covering the 1,457 different scenarios in which Florida State gains an ACC tourney bye takes A LOT of work and is impossible to pull off with any amount of polish if you know your readership (like us) wants the facts and is willing to sort through a mass amount of data with you. I really don’t take every chance I get to bash paysites, but I must say I enjoyed the stark contrast between your article and a similar article that was featured on an FSU paysite during the same time frame entitled “ACC Champions: Why not?” To say that the paysite’s article provided considerably less analysis than MattD’s article would be like saying your sexual relationship with Camryn Manheim was less satisfying than the one you had with Megan Fox. And you had to pay for the sex with Camryn Manheim. In cheeseburgers. And you were starving.
