From Story: Lee tight end Jonathan Wallace has accepted a preferred walk-on offer and will join the Seminoles in the fall. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound Wallace turned down scholarship offers from schools competing in smaller divisions to play for FSU. "I wanted to go to a big school and see if I could compete," Wallace said. "I'm thankful for the opportunity. "I'm definitely going to redshirt this coming season, but I'm excited for the chance to earn a scholarship down the road." Wallace was a key piece to Lee's offense this past season. He caught 19 passes for 286 yards and five touchdowns.
FSUncensored's comment: He's a big body. Most high school kids are awkward at 6'7" and he's no different. He has good hands and good body control. Slow. Very willing and aggressive blocker. I think he could be a Caz clone.
Further, this really reflects poorly on 2008 Tight End recruit Jabarris Little, who is in the doghouse in a huge way. Little is lazy on the field and in the weight room and has been demoted to 3rd team. I am hearing that our coaches have lost hope in him and that it will take a huge summer effort for him to get back in their good graces. He's actually down 15 lbs since he stepped on campus and is not improving. Let's hope this Wallace kid takes Jabarris' scholarship and continues to send a message to others on the team that hard work is not an option, but an expectation.

Is he a good blocker? I can never tell from the vids.
I think there are 2 types of TEs that work well in our system that we could reasonably recruit
1. The faster type that are more like big WR, not the best blockers. Orson Charles/Aaron Hernandez type
2. Bigger guys that block well and can catch the ball well enough. Caz/Daniel Graham type.
I know we’re not getting any Kellen Winslow or Chase Kaufman’s, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find solid guys at this position.

He'll definitely need to redshirt, but he extends his arms well and doesn't quit with his feet.
Add B. Pettigrew to that 2nd prototype list.

I've heard very encouraging things about Bo. Reliford of late.

So, so athletic. I hope he stays eligible.
Kill a fly with an axe - Mickey Andrews, his 1998 playbook
I'm very intrigued by this video and I think he has solid fundamentals.
1.) He stays low coming off the line and maintains his blocks. It seems that he enjoys blocking. The main example of that is the pancake block he applies to the kid on the backside of the play. The RB is was off to the left side of the play and he is continuing to block on the backside. That shows this kid loves to play and doesn’t take a down off. He didn’t need to flatten that kid, but he did.
2.) He uses his hands very well. On a lot of those catches, he is reaching out and initiating the catch with his hands. He doesn’t rely on his body to catch the ball. Again, this is only a highlight tape, so what happens on all the balls he dropped?
3.) He works well in traffic and isn’t afraid to get hit.
These tapes didn’t show a lot of complex route running nor did he show a ton of speed, nor could anyone cover him, which is surprising because he isn’t the quickest guy on the field. But he used his body to his advantage and got nice position on those catches.
I think it shows a lot of character that he was willing to take the risk of not getting a schollie elsewhere and trying to walk on to the team. Shows determination and goal setting. I like it.
Good eval, TC
I forgot to mention that we are also interested in a Rodney Hudson clone from his high school… a guy I’ll profile Wednesday.
It looks like he cares about working on his game. Definitely not the type who has neglected fundamentals and dominated purely on athletic ability in HS.
He also played vartisy baseball and varsity basketball

I expect him to put on some weight once he concentrates on one sport.
Preferred walk-on = probably won't ever see any playing time.
The odds are against the kid, but good luck to him. He’ll need to put on quite a bit of weight based on the above bball pics.
The guy wants to be here
He seems to want this so he wil porb work as hard to get some weight and speed. This guy must be skinny though hes 4inches taller than me and 35lb smaller.

You’re 6’3 260? What did you play in high school?

LB but that was a while ago.
back then I was 6’3 225 and benched 330lb. I ran track too (110m hurdlers and 330m hurdlers) that was about 10 years ago.
