Around SBN: The Pros and Cons of an 18-game NFL Schedule

Wake @ FSU. If someone can get this into an ".avi" format, that would be awesome. I'm not that tech-savvy, but we would love to break down the game tape.

you need an adapter like the one in the link below....you run the RCA (Red, White, Yellow) cables into

the USB into your PC. You have to capture the video live, so it must play in real time. I usually do it when going to bed if it is something that I don’t want to watch right then, and don’t want to risk changing the channels.

These games usually go for around 3 hours, so it would still be a pretty big .avi file, editing commercials is a pain. I’ve got a couple of games now on my DVR (West Carolina last year, and vs UF from 93)

Awesome

If we have 2 or 3 guys who can do this on a weekly basis, we’re guaranteed to have video unless there are 3 technical errors.

I'd be more than happy to be one

Ok this is excellent.

We can practice using the weekly stuff on SunSports. By the time the regular season rolls around, we’ll be a well-oiled machine.

Thanks Guys!

LOL... Too much work.

But thanks for answering me, jason.

Just wants to beat the Gators

This game might be painful to break down...

From what I remember, our defense played pretty well. Our offense suffered the effects of the transition from playing 2 high-school caliber defenses to an NFL caliber defense.

I have no problem doing it if no one else wants to

You don’t have a dvr Uncensored?

I have my parent’s DVR, because I am home for summer. They don’t have the equipment to hook it up, and I’m sure I’d mess it up.

Would you be able to get it into .AVI’s?

by Bud Elliott on Jun 19, 2009 2:49 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not sure

Never done it. The reason I’m volunteering is because I’m needing to do it for some other stuff. So, it’s perfect timing. Looks like jason is the best bet for this go around. I’m definitely going to give it a try regardless. So, if he can’t, there’s backup.

Well, like I said, I'll go ahead and record it.

If you can’t get to it, I’ll take a crack at it

The only thing I could think of...

was to make a dvd and mail it. No other way that I know of to send the entire game. Like you said….too big (did I really just say that?). Or make one for each quarter, then maybe it could be attached in email

also,

won’t post the whole thing on the site. Will cut it into series.

Thumbs up for posting the game links

It would be great to download games w/in a week of telecast … since I’m overseas I often am not able to watch the game live. Even for the games I have seen, I love to re-watch them when I can.

I think I have the UCLA Emerald Bowl game somewhere on my computer …

I’m hoping people will put the game up live on JustinTV …

Looking back at last season...

I think I would have rather lost to any other ACC team for the 3rd game than WF. We should have scheduled..Maybe we should have opened with a tougher game, and then played the cupcakes for #2, #3. Playing both those schools back to back hurt in this game. I think the inexperience wasn’t used to the speed of a team as disciplined as WF.

by jasonole59 on Jun 20, 2009 4:06 PM EDT reply actions

Sorry, I just kindof stopped my 2nd sentence. I thought maybe we should have scheduled UMD for the 3rd game.

I think we handle wake later in the season as we were playing better, and they were playing much worse. Of course, everyone seems to play their best game against FSU. It comes from years of getting abused.

convo between myself and oline07015

oline01075: I just want to tell you that if we play W.F like 3 weeks later we absolutely destroy them. We were such a better team at the end of the year then in the beginning.
 me: agreed
are you watchhing
oline01075: yeah I’ve been watching most of it
 me: i tivo
oline01075: I was switching between it and the us open
me: we had 3 trye runs through 2 quarters
oline01075: we should have thrown short alot more and used more bootleg action, would have opened up the run game more
the turnovers hurt but penalties have absolutely killed us. everytime we make a play we have a penalty.
Sent at 3:30 PM on Saturday
 me: TOTALLY
him: I don’t know how much you’ve watched but the last series after D’vo took off. Jimbo says “you should have thrown the F’n bubble”.
Our QB’s aren’t even looking in the flats or the middle underneath, we are so locked in on forcing the ball deep.
 me: lol
its sickening
him: good game to really judge how far we came last season
CP made big time strides
 me: so did the line
him: well christ we having furlong and mcspeedbump next to each other

FYI

I have it recorded, just need to get it onto my computer. Probably will get to it in the next few days. Jason, were you able to get it recorded?

Jason's comment below made me wonder...

does it matter how good the quality is for you? Will the lowest be good enough or should the middle be used?

by Nole-ando on Jun 22, 2009 1:01 PM EDT up reply actions

From what jason said...

Looks like the file size is 2 to 3 times larger for med. I’m wondering about the how big the difference in quality is too. I would think that the lowest will be “good enough” for analyzing it as game film. If you intend to do more than that, I don’t know. Jason said he has both formats already so maybe he can upload both and you can decide what you prefer?

I got it recorded and over to the computer. I left the captioning on by mistake from a movie

my wife and I were watching, but I can redo it if necessary. It was about 1.6GB at the lowest setting. I tested the West Carolina game and a middle setting and it was over 4GB.

by jasonole59 on Jun 22, 2009 9:56 AM EDT up reply actions

Great!

I guess you’re going to upload it too? How’s the quality on the lowest level? I’m going to try moving it over anyway to see if I can figure out that contraption. Was it pretty easy?

I bought a screen capture card for my computer so I could record all games of the next season (including basketball and baseball)

I have a hosting account so I could host all of them, although I’d really like some way to make it accessible only to “trusted” members as the bandwidth would be pretty big. Anyways, I’m willing to do this one the season starts.

I am not in Florida right now, though, so I can’t tape any SunSports games that come on :)

by pbysh on Jun 22, 2009 4:10 PM EDT reply actions

Awesome!

Once we have them, we can host on megavideo and embed.

I’m assembling a tech team.

I got in the Mid-grade setting. Looks pretty good for for analysis...

the only problem is that the file is huge, so I broke it up into 1GB chunks to load onto megavideo, and it looks like it will take approx 5 hours per segment to upload.

With that being the case, i’m probably going to have to try it on the lower setting to see how that turns out. I can get away with 5 hours overnight to upload, but but I’ll be pushing my luck with the wife on 20+ hours of tying up the home network.

I’ll get you the link when this first segment uploads. I may also do around a 5 minute clip on the lower setting so you can see how it looks.

I HAVE THE WF/FSU GAME

I have every game this season except for the Western Carolina one.

by ray foye combo (nova b-tch) on Jun 22, 2009 7:44 PM EDT reply actions

I have western carolina....The only good thing about that game is you can see

some players that didn’t play much last year. That game actually got a little boring to watch. I never thought I’d say that about a 69-0 Noles victory.
