FSU, the NCAA, and why I won't attend another game until Bowden is gone
I've been reading this blog for the past few weeks, seeing how FSU has turned a gift from the NCAA into an even worse nightmare for the school. I'm sick to my stomach with the way the administration is handling things, with the most recent response showing that the University is far removed from reality. When I read things about how it would accept bowl bans, further scholarship losses, and other "fairer" punishments for the sake of Bowden's wins, I want to vomit. How can this administration be that out of touch with reality?
I'm crossing my fingers that Jimbo Fisher won't jump ship if FSU "wins" it's appeal. I can only imagine what he must be thinking right now as this circus had unfolded. Is he going to press the administration one way or another?
What kind of message does it send to Fisher, recruits, and the boosters that we may well crucify this program for the next five years so that Bowden can keep the illusion he has a chance to get the record?
I hate to say it, but I have to tip my hat to UF for showing how to handle the future. Before Spurrier became head coach, UF was best known for Spurrier as QB and almost becoming the second school to get the death penalty in the 80s. When Spurrier forced UF's hand in 2005, UF instead went with Urban Meyer. Spurrier is stuck in neutral at South Carolina, while UF is having it's true Golden Age.
Which brings me to Bowden. It's been discussed ad nasuem here about how he's become a leach to the program and I don't care beat the dead horse too much. However, I'm saying this right now, I won't go to another FSU game until he is gone from the program. If FSU wants me to drive three hours to see the team play, the better put a team committed to wining out there.
I understand that to many, Bowden and FSU football are one in the same. However, if FSU wants to be known as more than a one trick pony, it has to move on at some point. I don't want to be like Bama fans and see 40 year old pictures of Bowden winning the 99 National Championship and not have anything else.

Before anyone calls out Natty again:
FSU put the remark about postseason bans in the report, knowing full well this would be a public document. You can bet when recruits get this document in the mail, the paragraph will be circled with a note asking, “Will FSU get a post-season ban?? Let’s talk.” Don’t shoot the messenger.
FSUBlue, I would encourage you to keep supporting the team in the stands, but I certainly understand your frustrations and would love to see you pick up the phone TODAY. Tell the boosters what you just told us.
TRM, thanks for the backup
I knew that article would rub some people the wrong way though.
At least we know it’s getting noticed, one way or another. :)
Cheers!

Blue, great post!
Even though I’m sick to my stomach about this turn of events and Bowden makes me want to down a 12 pack everytime he puts on the headset, I still have to go support my Noles when I can.

I can feel the pain
let’s get back to winning ways………heck, i might even settle for one or two stupid players trying to get a discount at Dillards over this
Man, it sucks
Been an FSU fan since I was born even though I never went to school there. Always been tough growing up with all my friends arrogant Gator lovers. All I want to see now is the program headed in the right direction, which is flashes sometimes, but other times are scary.
Can we get Bowden to please just retire? If he doesn’t after this season we are in big trouble.
I may be a little out of the loop here, but....
what’re our booster’s motives in letting this happen? They can’t possibly be as silent as it seems they are, especially with the fees all these lawyers will accumulate, not to mention, well, the complete short-bus mentality that’s going on….
I mean…accepting BOWL ineligibility to get those WINS back?! What the hell???

As a quick update:
Yesterday I e-mailed every high-level contact at Seminole Boosters, Inc., the following question: “What is the Seminole Boosters’ position regarding the ongoing NCAA investigation / appeals process?” I’ve received one response, which was from Charlie Barnes:
“Jim, I’ll defer to Andy Miller and Chairman Steve Brown for an official response.
As for me, we’re an arm of the University and our official position is going to be that articulated by the President, most especially when we’re in uncertain waters. I think the feeling of many is that we tried to do the right thing – perhaps went far beyond the right thing – and in turn were treated harshly and unfairly. I wouldn’t put much stock in the speculation of the media. I believe that we’re doing what’s right in protecting due process as well as the integrity of the University.
Charlie"
For the record, I’m not commenting on Charlie’s e-mail right now, just wanted to share it. I will say that I appreciate his quick response and candor.
I dont blame you for not commenting
As for me sounds like a bunch of I could care less Im sticking up for the gipper
Why is the sky blue? Because, God Loves the Infantry
2nd Update:
(if anyone sees this)
From Jerry Kutz:
“Jim,
Seminole Boosters raises money in support of the athletic department and leaves those types of decisions to the President of the University and to the athletic department. We do not involve ourselves in making those types of decisions.
Jerry Kutz"
From Andy Miller:
“Not our call given it’s a University matter…there are a wide variety of opinion among our supporters
Andy"
