This isn't good

Per tharinger, Christian Jones says his top 3 that are “starting to stand out” are UF, OU, and Southern Cal. I know it’s a long time before he’ll decide, (he says it’ll be January), but this isn’t something I like to hear from a guy we so desperately need.

by DKfromVA on Jul 10, 2009 1:52 PM EDT reply actions

!!!

We’re not in Christian Jones top 3…that’s f’n great. WTF? Really? After seeing Christian Green name UF as his top school. I’m going to need blood pressure rx soon…

I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.

Let's clear some stuff up

Green did not name UF his leader. He isn’t even going to FNL.

Jones is playing the game. I doubt he makes it to the season without making commitment to FSU. He talks about FSU in that article.

Both are coming up for Showtime. Both will be Noles.

by FSUSOM on Jul 10, 2009 2:03 PM EDT up reply actions

I hope so

I knew Green wasn’t going to FNL, which is good. I really hope we’re showing Jones how much we need him.

by DKfromVA on Jul 10, 2009 2:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Those are not his Top 3

They are the Top 3 that are “starting to stand out”.
FSU has always stood out and is the firm leader.

Jones

said a few weeks back that he’d be likely to commit if/when Joyner commits. I just wish they’d get it over with and pull the trigger so they could work on some of the other big names in the class like Luc and Lattimore during Showtime and beyond.

Do we have a link for the pos. roster for next year from the school

or do we just have the one we kinda think is going to be.
Also any idea when College Football live is going to have there Fl show for the 50 State tour.

by Desman on Jul 10, 2009 6:26 PM EDT reply actions

I don't know when that damn show is coming on

College Football Live always pisses me off because they’re scheduling is so RANDOM. Then they get pushed off the air on days that really matter (to me anyways). When they were visiting each conference, the day they were supposed to do the ACC was the same day the Manny Ramirez steroids drama broke out. ESPN canceled the show to talk about that garbage. Now with this 50 states thing they’re extremely random and all over the map (literally) as far as scheduling goes. Sorry, I had to vent

They show Florida

August 6-7th, we’re the last stop on the tour.

Question about some of out Top Prospects....

Hey FSUncensored, Good Mornin, Just wondering do you know about any off field probs some of our Top Recruits have? They all seem to be really standup guys with alot of character. I know FSU is steering away from trouble kids but with our recruiting the past few years i just wanted to make sure. I couldnt find anything online but if they minors its hard to get. I haven't heard much about recruiting for basketball

but according to ESPN, our 2010 class ranks as 15th in the nation. Are we going after any other guys, or are we done with the two recruits we have?

Sorry...been a little off the beaten path recently. Have been planning to put together a piece about this year's recruiting class.

Not a lot to add as we only have three recruits coming in.

There are a ton of big name prospects for the 2010 class, like Brandon Knight. It’s nice that he would stay in state, but highly unlikely that he will stay.

Should FSU take Haggins as a safety?

We have a very good shot at Karlos Williams in 2011, and with the young depth we have at safety now, should we use a scholly on Haggins this year or use it for either DL, LB, CB?

by basbalstr101 on Jul 13, 2009 10:44 PM EDT reply actions

Haha, just something I was thinking about with SS coming up.

Wasn’t sure if he was one who might pull the trigger.

I haven’t heard much about him from the recruiting services, so I was hoping I could gather insight from TN members.

by basbalstr101 on Jul 13, 2009 11:24 PM EDT up reply actions

He might pull the trigger

I assume they would take him as an ATH given the bloodlines. I think the only position he can play is Safety, and we don’t need another safety. We already have one, and LJ may play there. Not to mention it isn’t a priority position this cycle.

Can we take him at WR? We look good for CG and Shaw, already have DJJ.

Personally I think he screws up our class, and I hope he still has dreams of playing QB somewhere.

2) Are there any new things we can expect from the Off. like new formations or key plays like last years bubble screens? I know the anwser is more likely we wont know tell miami. maybe someone might have an idea.

Doesn’t look like Dunkley will end up at Seminole Showtime.

by gahnki on Jul 15, 2009 2:51 AM EDT reply actions

James Louis committed to UF

And this was Luke’s comment regarding Dunkley

“The next question will be about Pahokee wide receiver Chris Dunkley’s reaction to this. I’ve been talking to Dunkley about this eminent commitment for much of the afternoon.

He does not seem to have much of a problem with it, and is well aware of the fact the Gators want to bring in at least 4, if not 5, wide receivers in this class. The two, Louis and Dunkley, had a good time hanging out at Georgia’s Camp a few weeks back according to Dunkley.

After talking to Dunkley, I really don’t expect him to have a decision at Friday Night Lights like many have theorized. Also after talking flight times for his return flight from Nike’s National 7-on-7 in Oregon, if the times he told me were accurate, I don’t think he will be able to attend Seminole Showtime. "

I remember when FSU had their pick of the litter, so to speak, similar to UF now. However I don’t recall us ever offering a guy and then resending the offer like UF seems to be doing now. I never heard of us playing games like that. I could be wrong.

Defense is not the problem, but will it be this year?

or more shotgun or Ace slot

The more WR we get on the field the less in the box then when they stack it like Micky would beat them with the pass. We dont have to go long all day, but just chip away. Last year other teams thought FSU is a pass team but thats not true. FSU used the pass to open up the run. This year teams are going to think we are a running team as they should but we can still be a passing team. If Ponder is improving as much as some say (with his play calling and pre-snap reads) then the checking up to the passes and others might be very efective.

Question about recruiting

Let’s say we have 25 free scholarships for an upcoming recruiting class (60 players). Then decide to cut 25 scholarship players from the team (35 players). Could we sign 50 players? Or do we sign 25 max each year until we fill up back to 85?

Just wants to beat the Gators

by DA-2 on Jul 15, 2009 11:40 PM EDT reply actions

You can only technically sign 25 in a class

You can backdate certain prospects to a year where you did not take 25. You will probably see this with the TCC kids this year. Obviously this is hypothetical because it would be a horrible depth chart idea, but that’s how it rolls.

by SWFLNole. on Jul 16, 2009 12:03 AM EDT up reply actions

Right. Obviously it's a horrible depth chart idea. ;)

So you could place 5 greyshirts (I don’t know the limits on greyshirts) and sign 30? Or sign 35 have 5 grey shirts and 5 placed in JUCO? I know the whole Ole Miss situation, so I was curious.

Just wants to beat the Gators

by DA-2 on Jul 16, 2009 12:34 AM EDT up reply actions

If a kid does not qualify he does not (currently) count toward the 25

I believe that is true, without looking up the rule. You can actually backdate kids without greyshirting, which is what we will do with the TCC kids. There is limitations, I don’t have them handy.

Greyshirting is actually kinda of future-dating kids if that makes sense, as opposed to backdating to when a class was short. It doesn’t count on your class until the next year either. I don’t know of a limit.

The oversigning rules are being looked at (largely because of what you said with Ole Miss).

I’ve had a few beers, and did not look any of this up. So FSUsom will no doubt clean up my sloppy answers.

Speaking of SEC players

Nigel Terrel has us in his top 2 now . . . thoughts? I mean if we bag Terrell, Christian Jones, Jeff Luc (fingers crossed), maybe Holmes Onwukaife and HOPEFULLY Telvin Smith comes back around and commits to FSU we could be solving depth problems at LB immediately. Not to mention most people believe Mizell will be fine to enroll in January

by truenole87 on Jul 21, 2009 9:43 AM EDT up reply actions

I don't understand this, unless he specifically says he wants to play in the SEC.

by truenole87 on Jul 21, 2009 11:40 AM EDT up reply actions

No, I see comments like "he will play in the SEC"...that's what I was talking about.

I think history shows that a program like FSU can get the same or better players that an SEC school can. If you are looking at percentages for Travis Dickson, 4 of his 5 are SEC schools, so I understand that the probablility is that he will play in the SEC, but I also feel that

FSU > Those 4 SEC schools

by jasonole59 on Jul 21, 2009 12:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Even then.

A lot of these southern boys grew up watching Alabama play Auburn. Alabama play Tennessee. Tennessee play Florida. Florida play Georgia. They didn’t see Florida State play Boston College/VA Tech or play Wake Forest and really care. The ACC has a ton of catching up to do, and has to make some key rivalry games.

by DA-2 on Jul 21, 2009 1:50 PM EDT up reply actions

I think it will get back there when

FSU and Miami take there place back at the top. Its only a matter of time. Miami and FSU will out recruit people sooner or latter. USF and UCF dont have a conf to get the great recruits. The SEC is going to be big for a while but the ACC is closer for one reason than people think. Last year who was the best team. It was a week to week thing. I like it better this way kinda. In the SEC you have UF and then everone else. We all knew Bama was going to lose to UF. Same for UGA and LSU. Ol mis suprised us but would not have done it a second time.

Last how far behind UF are we. It seems like we are miles behind them but I think we are only about a 1/4 mile back. No most of our players couldnt start at UF but its also a dif. style we play. I think they fall big time next year after Superman leaves.

There’s one thing I heard a long time ago that has stuck with me throughout following recruiting- SEC players go to SEC schools. Has nothing to do with talent level or location. Some players are just very conducive to the way SEC schools run things.

So FSUn are you going to try to do a Q&A with other teams

like last year. I thought that was kinda cool how you did that. Most of the other teams were cool about it and very respectfull. I thought it went very well. It was also kinda cool to go to other teams sites like Buckys 5th quarter. and seventh floor. and get in there talks about football.

For anyone worried about our recruiting class's lack of numbers.

USC has 10, and 5 ESPN 150 Watch List players.
FSU has 8, and 6 ESPN 150 Watch List players.

I suppose it’s not as bad as I thought.

Rick Trickett's offensive lines

Has anyone researched or already done the legwork to see the improvment of Trickett’s WV line as far as pass protection?

I know they were definately a run first team, especially with Pat White, but I was just curious if the passing efficiency improved from when he took over to when he left?

I love the guy, i’m just curious.

Have not at all.

That would be very intersting but would have a lot of variables to control for.

I keep thinking about a booster pool.

Let me set this up by mentioning that our current president (U.S., not FSU) got a lot of campaign funding through online donations. You could donate $5, $50, etc. to his campaign.

What are the chances that something like this will come along for FSU football? Or has it and I don’t know about it?

This kind of thing would be great for people like me who aren’t rolling in money and aren’t able to make a steady commitment but want to give occasional one-time donations to the program. Do we have something like this?

Any comments are gratefully accepted.
