Tomahawk Nation Showtime Tailgate

Here are the details:

We're going to meet around 4 o'clock in the parking lot next to Bobby's statue.  We have pushed the time back a little
because the start time of the event has moved to around 6:30.  (see this link from the Democrat for more info on that)

Since it's pretty gray in Tallahassee, in the event of bad rain we will move to AJ's Sports Bar and Grill to hang out a little bit before heading over to the stadium.  We'll update this post if that ends up being the case.

Here's the link to our other thread on Showtime so you can get a list of the players in attendance and such.

Tickets?

Do I need to buy tickets? What time will they allow us in the stadium?

by DesiNole on Jul 18, 2009 1:50 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

Event is free. I think you can get in around 530ish. event doesn’t start till 630ish

by Bud Elliott on Jul 18, 2009 2:10 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

Are you saying they won’t start breaking into their position groups until 6:30 or is the whole kit and caboodle not starting until 6:30 with the former player introductions and the warm up drills?

by tricknole on Jul 18, 2009 2:28 PM EDT reply actions

Well I guess I’m meeting up with my buddy at Doak at 5 anyways, so it won’t matter. Last year the thing was supposed to start at 6, I think, and for whatever reason it didn’t get started until after 7. All the coaches, recruits and players were doing something or other in the Moore Center.

G&G at the Governor's Square has changed

A lot of Nike Tees that I haven’t seen before

Plus, the new True Seminole shirt should be out in the next week or two

I am REALLY unhappy I am away from Tallahassee for the summer

I’d really like to meet up with you guys. None of my friends care for FSU much so I’d be nice to be around a different atmosphere for a change. :(

Anyways, I’m assuming most people here will be tailgating on Labor Day, right?

8 PM kickoff

Plenty of time to tailgate ;-)

Should be a fun crowd!

What time will they open the gates?

I’m shocked Christian Green isn’t attending. I heard from someone who was at the camp earlier that the FSU coaches expected him to commit today.

Hopefully this is just a rumor.

Dunkley is here! Just showed up. Didn’t see other Pahokee guys though.

by Bud Elliott on Jul 18, 2009 7:37 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

I need some good news

Thank god Dunkley made it. I’m worried about this Christian Green thing still. We canNOT afford to lose him to UF. I still think the Lamarcus Joyner morning show will commit to us. I have no confidence in getting Luc. That kid is cold as ice.

by Fire Machine on Jul 18, 2009 7:41 PM EDT reply actions

I'm concerned that we're getting too many guys at DB

Are we going to miss out on Joyner and Mitchell b/c of Brooks, Abrams, & Noel?

Plus the 3-4 guys we took last year…

by FSUjab on Jul 18, 2009 7:48 PM EDT reply actions

totally agree

Plus I’ve already got one annoying gator fan yapping at me about how they didn’t offer Brooks. That really grinds my gears.

by Fire Machine on Jul 18, 2009 7:54 PM EDT up reply actions

FSUjab

Just saw his highlight reel on youtube and he seems to play a lot of offense, so i don’t know where our coaches project him to play at the college level.

by TCHOP561 on Jul 18, 2009 7:54 PM EDT up reply actions

We lost Downs and Bright is not gonna be a starter...

Harley and Reid are the only two who will compete for lots of playing time.

I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.

I think if LJ and T Mitchell commit

That Haggins goes elsewhere…

You want Haggins in this class?

He is not that highly rated, and we have plenty of depth at S, which is where he will end up. He’s probably a “last resort” type of recruit.

by basbalstr101 on Jul 18, 2009 9:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Joyner will go wherever he wants regardless of other players. One, what coach is going to tell him “No, we are out of room?” And two, he’s a competitor. He won’t be scared from anyone.

by gahnki on Jul 18, 2009 8:06 PM EDT up reply actions

huh??

LJ dont see those guys. Signing other DBs is no concern at all anywhere. Unless they have favoritism. But every school has promised he will play period. rather starting or not

Even Ohio State? I’ve never heard of Coach Tress promising playing time. Even for TP.

Hated FSU huh?

Fortunately, unless you have family that attended a school or are die-hard fans, feelings for a school usually don’t run very deep until after high school.

Elliott Porter to LSU

While attending FSU showtime? Jimbo and Lester love each other don’t they?

In this post on ThaRinger forums

Elliot Porter to LSU

The poster seems to indicate that Porter has been a silent to LSU for a while. It is the LSU thread on the SEC board. I linked to the individual post, rather than the thread so that you wouldn’t have to scroll through the thread to find the post.

Any more commitments tonight?

Hi, im new to TN and love it so far great information about the noles. I was just wondering if you guys think well get any more commit at SS i was really hoping for Luc, Willis (especially with miller commiting) Green (either one) or Joyner, do you guys see any of those or anyone else commiting? Is there a good time or time that they usually commit maybe at the end of SS?

BWillis

Tharinger board said he was doing the chop. You might want to follow the link above.

by TBfisherman on Jul 18, 2009 9:35 PM EDT up reply actions

we are after a lot of guys who handle their recruiting professionally and who are not swayed by emotion (joyner luc green etc). I think Willis will happen soon though.

by Bud Elliott on Jul 18, 2009 9:45 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

Just got in from showtime

Looked like Jeff Luc may have hurt his shoulder, they wrapped it up halfway through the 7 on 7’s. Not sure if that was a pre-existing thing or not.

I have some pictures and videos, want to see if I can edit the videos. FSUnc..you will have mail probably tomorrow.

by basbalstr101 on Jul 18, 2009 9:54 PM EDT reply actions

Not Luc

I don’t think that was Luc. Noticed a kid that had his left shoulder wrapped with ice and did not recognize him. Luc was one of the last recruits off the field.

by CSI Nole on Jul 18, 2009 11:22 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

I know what Luc looks like

And his shoulder was not wrapped as he left the field and walked through the tunnel (I was there until every recruit and former player walked to the locker room). Unless he took the wrap off before it ended. Like I said, I noticed a guy with a his left shoulder iced and it was not Luc.

Gator lean

sad because we used to do really well at that school a decade ago with guys like Kendyll Pope and Jerome Carter and even earlier with Reinard Wilson.

by RishiM on Jul 22, 2009 3:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Might be hard to land a 5* DE in 2011

Especially with Miller and Cummings in this class. On top of that, we’ll probably pick up another DE this cycle. That’s when our coaches will earn their money by watching film and picking up the kid with potential who might be under the radar..

5* or high 4*, Huge Seminole lean. Might be our first commit.

OK, but that's different...

Hard to pull the undecided kid when he’s elite, but will have to sit behind guys just as talented. He expects to play as a freshman…
