Chris Dunkley: Pahokee will be at Florida State's Seminole Showtime Camp
Yesterday I had the chance to sit down with 2010 wide receiver recruit Chris Dunkley. Dunkley is rated as the 69th best overall player by rivals.com, a four-star recruit and the 9th best receiver in the country. ESPN.com calls the 5'11" 170lb Dunkley an explosive athlete with fluid hips and great acceleration. He's a lock to make ESPN's top 100 list and will play in the Under Armour All America Game on ESPN in January. Watch for yourself...
Inside, you'll find the Dunkley interview and some daily 'Nole news.
Being the Florida State affiliate for CBS Sports has its perks, name recognition being the most notable. Dunkley was eager to talk with us. He transferred to state champion Pahokee High School this offseason and will pair with De'Joshua Johnson and Merril Noel to form one of the most impressive skill units in the country.
TN: So what do you go by?
CD: They call me dunk.
Dunk holds scholarship offers from over 30 schools (pretty much every major school has offered).
TN: Which schools are on you the hardest?
CD: Right now, West Virgina, FSU, UF USC OSU, and Tennessee are showing me the most attention.
Recruits name a number of reasons for choosing a school. Some want early playing time, others want to stay close to home, and some have completely off the wall reasons for choosing a school.
TN: What matter to you in a school? What are you looking for?
CD: I'm looking for a great receivers coach. I'm not worried about the depth. Anywhere I go I can play with the best.
TN: Who did you grow up idolizing at receiver?
CD: I liked Jaquez Green from Florida and also Peter Warrick for the 'Noles.
Dunk said he's going to take his time and his visits before making his decision, so I decided to ask him some football related stuff.
TN: What's your favorite route to run?
CD: BOMB.
TN: What do you need to work on the most?
CD: I need to get better from the right side. Like, lining up on thr right and turning in to catch slants and posts (turning his left shoulder to the QB).
There had been a lot of rumblings about the Pahokee kids missing the Seminole Showtime Showcase Camp on July 18th due to to their participation in the Nike 7-on-7 Championships in Oregon.
TN: So, I know you plan to hit some camps, but with the Nike thing going on will you be at Seminole Showtime?
CD: Ok we'll be there. The 7-on-7 is over the 17th. After we win we'll be at Showtime on the 18th.
And that was pretty much it. Dunk is a confident player who will make an immediate impact at the next level. As for that 7-on-7 camp, he is excited about playing Miami Northwestern and Byrnes and thinks that Pahokee will be the fastest team there.

BYU. No team's continued presence in the polls frustrated me more than the Cougars', who managed to remain in the rankings all season long and even finish there despite marquee wins over Air Force and Colorado State (by three points after a furious fourth quarter rally by BYU) and double-digit losses to the three best teams on the schedule, Utah, TCU and Arizona; the Utes and Horned Frogs rocked the Y by 25 and 24 points, respectively, and there was no retribution for the sketchy finish in the one-point win at Washington, the nearest the hopeless Huskies came to victory all season. For that, the Cougars snuck in at No. 25 in the final AP poll and No. 21 in the Coaches' poll.

Orlando Sentinel - Bobby Bowden once called for forfeiture after FSU was victimized by ineligible player by
Bowden obviously thinks it's unfair that the NCAA is telling FSU to vacate victories for using ineligible players. But a quarter-century ago, when Bowden's FSU team was victimized by an alleged ineligible player used by Tulane, Bowden thought Tulane should have to forfeit the victory. Back then, he lobbied to get a win because he felt it was unfair he lost to a team with an ineligible player. Right now, he is lobbying to keep his wins because he thinks it's unfair they were been taken away even though he used ineligible players. It should also be noted that Tulane actually had to forfeit the game back in 1983 and FSU ended up getting a bid to the Peach Bowl as a result. In other words, Bobby is getting credit for a game he didn't actually win. http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1347&dat=19831109&id=vyUVAAAAIBAJ&sjid=mvsDAAAAIBAJ&pg=5110,3169571

Can someone please tell me....
how Dunkley isn’t considered a 5 star recruit by either rivals or scout? Reminds me of DeSean Jackson of the Philadelphia Eagles.
great comparison!
that is seriously perfect! I think Dunkley should be a 5*, but whoever gets him is getting a stud.

Is it just me?
or does Dunkley look bigger than 5’11" in the film? Seems to be fairly tall compared to other players.
I thought the exact same thing.
He also looks heavier than 170 (or at least plays heavier).
I don't know about that.
I’ve seen pictures with him, Payne and LJ, and the guy looks like a very cut 150 (which is pretty damn skinny). Maybe he’s bulked since then, so…
Just wants to beat the Gators
I thought that Bianchi article was hilarious.
But if you want even more laughs, read the pathetic comments from folks trying to distinguish the two events and slam Bianchi for his bias. Absurd.
I’m still hoping that a member of the Athletic Department, or Boosters, or even TK Wonderboy will explain to us how the slim possibility of overturning the vacation penalties (none of which affect the present or future) is worth destroying what may left of the school’s reputation and the $ and time spent on fighting it. So the NCAA says the wins are vacated- so what? Does that translate to more revenue for the Department? Does that bring in more boosters? Does that attract more TV? Please tell us how your desired result in the appeal will affect FSU differently from the original decision. You know and we know and you know that we know that it does not change a thing.
So, keep feeding the news cycle, FSU. You leave the door open, and they’ll glady walk in all day long.

BTW- Dunkley would make the miss on Debose easier to swallow.
I really like Dunk's game
but I think the only way FSU would land him is if UF took Christian Green away. I really doubt they would both go to the same school.
That said, give me Christian Green over Chris Dunkley all day.

How many WRs will FSU end up with?
3? 4? 5?
I suspect that the progress of the secondary this year may determine whether Smith and Pryor end up on defense, which would change the recruiting somewhat.

Completely agree with taking Green
But wouldn’t it be nice if we snagged them both lol?? Green’s recruitment bothers me right now honestly, if UF is really his leader it bothers me and if he’s playing games that bothers me as well. I’d rather he just pull the trigger and help us draw in more talent for our class.
Really?
That’s been the story for a while now. Where have you heard otherwise?
here is a interview
http://www.tharinger.com/2010%20state%20rankings/ChristianGreen.htm
I feel comfortable in saying he will be at FSU.
Sounds good to me
I’ve heard countless people say they’re comfortable saying it, i’m just a little uneasy. I sure hope you guys are right though. He has the potential to be OUTSTANDING at WR.
I just read the article on Stevens
Does anyone else think that recruiting a DE that is 200 lbs is simply foolish? Even if he’s great as a senior, you’ve had to use 3 or 4 years to develop him. Look at Wimbley. Even though he finished his career on a high note, it took him seemingly forever to get to anywhere close to appropriate size for his position. I certainly hope that Stevens becomes a force at DE, but at 230, I just don’t see it happening this season.
Yeah. I think it's dumb unless you KNOW he can get a lot bigger very soon
or can play another position.
Your point about the time invested is excellent.

Thanks- now I know for sure that my wife will crush this thing with a frying pan.

Swag/Confidence
In all honesty kids like Dunk and DJJ (thank goodness he’s committed) are what we need. That attitude and competitive nature has been missing and I think we addressed it with pick ups like Greg Reid in the 09 class. Our skill players need some attitude. Hopefully all that talking Bert Reed does proves not to be hot air this year.
I like Dunkley...
he looks both speedy fast and shifty fast. There were a couple plays where opposing guys had the angle and Dunk still outran them.
nice
But I wish I could see an entire game. When I look at things like this I notice the bad tackling and team defense more so than I notice the WR. The fact that he wasn’t crushed on that punt return was insane.
Those bums
They admitted that they used recruiting websites to scout talent. They were just flat out lazy, its embarrassing and disgraceful
Imagine that...
He “thinks that Pahokee will be the fastest team there.” Who would have ever guess Pahokee would be fast? lol
"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."
"But How will I know limits from lies, if I never try."
Vid
at the 2:00 mark… he Punk’d just about the whole team on that one play.
3-4 receivers taken in 2010?
DJ. Johnson, C. Green, C. Dunk, K. Shaw. Anyone feel that Joshua Reese from Miami Central is a better prospect than Kenny Shaw?
Let's see how they do as seniors...
I only mentioned Reese because of our chances at possibly landing Gainer or Godfrey/both.
I do not see us pulling Dunkley. Joshua Reese is a good prospect but I still like Shaw better and Shaw loves FSU.

I don't think we will either but
a commitment from L. Joyner could give him something to think about. If we only took 3… I’d be content with DJJ, CG and KS. Add a 4th and I’d be thrilled about C. Dunk in this class. Seems as though I get mixed vibes about C. Dunk. It appears that he’s a Gator lean… but what if he commits to FSU? Would you slam the door in his face or welcome him aboard?
Take him if he wants to be hear, no need to pass him up.
Some people are concerned that we have too many small receivers but IMO we have a good mix between height and small shifty guys.
They'll add some height in 2011
The kid is talented, no need to give up on the guy? I think we have a decent shot at landing him (my gut speaking).
Oh no I was agreeing with you
We definitely take him if he wants in, he’s too good to pass up.
