Seminoles Make Dick Vitale's Pre-Season Top 25
The hype has already started and it looks like the Seminoles will be under the microscope this year. With the foundation of Solomon Alabi, expectations are high for the young FSU squad. However, with one year of experience under this young core's belt, expectations should be high.
Who is in your top 25?

Am I the only one still flabbergasted at how far UF has faceplaneted in basketball over the last two years?

Wow!
I did not expect a 15 ranking. Is that close to where we’re projected to start in the national polls? Seems a bit high to me. I think we’re a top 25 team, though…
Tell me about it!
When i clicked on the link i scrolled all the way to the bottom expecting to see us in the 30-40 range. When i saw i could not believe my eyes.
I agree that the 15 ranking, granted this is simply Dick Vitale's opinion, is a bit generous...
…for a team that just lost its senior leader and has a significant number of question marks. We have a young core of players returning but we only saw flashes of brilliance throughout the course of the season. Alabi will be dominant, especially now that he has put one some weight. Our Sophomore class has a year of legitimate playing time in Hamilton’s system and we are adding one of the best players in the country to a highly talented roster.
But, who is going to step up and take control of this team? Ryan Reid, our only Senior? Derwin Kitchen? Alabi? Singleton? Snaer? Apparently the practices that have occurred so far this year have an entirely different quality, intensity and purpose compared to last year. A year ago, these guys were learning where to stand, how to do this, how to do that….Now they are running the offense and getting good reps, working on the important subtleties.
I think a top 25 ranking is merited, but I was a little surprised to see Dick Vitale so high on our team. I’ll take all the press and recognition we can get. Brandon Knight, are you reading this?

I'd put us around 20 to start the year off
Alabi and Singleton have a ton of potential, but are they ready to carry the load? I can’t wait to see what Snaer does.
I saw the title and though....
wth does Vitale know about football?!?! Funny how things can change with good coaching.
I don't know if it's coaching.
Basketball is the biggest me sport. Football is the biggest team sport. You can put Kobe, LeBron, D-Wade, Howard, Paul on a team and win a NBA championshipdespite a complete crap coach. You can’t put an All-NFL team and win a Super Bowl with Jeff Bowden (you probably can get to the playoffs, but you get my point).
You load this team up with talent, and we succeed. Hamilton has done a tremendous job of recruiting, and done a good job coaching.
Just wants to beat the Gators
By coaching I meant
the entire scope of what a coach has to perform. The recruiting, ego management, and getting the players to concentrate on defense. Also the last Cowboys title showed if you put enough talent on a team a bad coach can win the Super Bowl. The NFL version of Barry Switzer was the original Larry Coker. Coaching makes a difference in the NBA on standard teams, as a coach like Flip Saunders is going to cost his team some games every single year. For example if you swap Mike Brown and Phil Jackson do you doubt that Cleveland is a better team and the Lakers are worse?

Oh my!!!
- and ahead of UF? How things have changed in the past couple of years. #15 seems a bit high but I LIKE it!!!
I couldn't care less about preseason hype...
I would rather start off being ranked 50 and prove our way to the top 25. We were a horrible offensive team last year and we need to see big improvements in that area if we are going to succeed this year. And with our 1-man show gone we really need some of these younger guys to step up. I really hope Alabi lives up to the potential because as TC said he really should be dominant this year. If these guys can gel as an offensive unit, it could be pretty exciting for the next couple years….
Wow. Just wow.
15 is higher than I expected but I am very excited nonetheless!
We are going to abuse some teams down low this year.
Love it. And not that Dicky V is exactly the authority here...
but for Dicky V to put us in and omit UF, well that’s saying something. I always felt like he was a Gator fan…
This has to be the first year for me
that I am more excited for basketball than football, I personally can’t wait to see what Kitchen and Gibson do with more time on the court (not to mention the rest of our regulars). Snaer won’t replace Douglas, but if he lives up to half the hype and Hamilton adjust the offense accordingly we can overcome that.

I’ve been advocating calling Alabi the “Lion Kinf” since TD was quoted saying he had strangled a lion. But frnakly he is a beast. He led the conference last year in blocks.
Xzvier Gibson is reported to be stronger as well He will give some quality minutes while Alabi stays fresh and also a possiblity of two guys 7’ (or almost) running the floor if the guards can get the ball to them.
In Europe they play a faster game running the floor. This year the Seminoles play some exhibitions in Spain. Loucks Kitchen and the RS freshman ciykd wind up being points ..though I think Kitchen more a 2 Snaer maybe a one or two. With FSU’s hieght I would love to see some a lot of basket ball above the rim in Tallahassee this year.

sorry for the typo – anyway Singleton should have a much improved face up game this year. The ranking is a nice recognition of the talent and the potential of the team. We will perhaps know by Christmas if they will be an ACC contender this year.
