Weekly Seminole weather outlook (THURSDAY UPDATE at BYU in Provo)
THURSDAY UPDATE
No changes at all. to the going forecast.
One reminder, however -- while this game starts shortly after 7 p.m. EASTERN time, it will still be 5 p.m. in Provo -- so, it will likely be in the 80s at kickoff and will stay there until late in the game, which should end not too long after sunset.
Heat should be a good thing for us, right?
WEDNESDAY UPATE
Not much to say -- there is virtually no chance of bad weather for Saturday's games. Highs Saturday will be in the 80s, which is well above average for this time of year.
Lows Saturday night will be in the upper 50s, but those temps won't be reached until near sunrise -- the temp at kickoff should still be in the low 80s, falling through the 70s during the game.
Frankly, we couldn't ask for better weather.

Starting new thread for each game ....
"Rec" this to keep it pinned.
Well, early indications are that FSU won't have the weather as an excuse this weekend (not that this will cause us to hop of the Excuse Express -- there's always altitude, travel time, etc.).
The latest run of the GFS computer model shows a tranquil pattern over the intermountain West.
While the early part of this week might be rainy in Provo, the latter part of the week and weekend look to be dry.
Here is a snippet from the forecast discussion from that area:
A MID LEVEL RIDGE LOOKS TO BECOME
ESTABLISHED ALONG THE WEST COAST BY EARLY NEXT WEEK ALLOWING FOR A
DRY NORTHWEST FLOW ACROSS THE REGION.
More good news weather-wise -- it should be quite warm. The current foreast calls for highs in the mid to upper 80s in Provo Friday through Sunday, with lows reaching the upper 50s.
By the way, the elevation in Provo is about 4,500 feet.

How’d you get interested in weather and do you have any background in meteorology or is your interest purely a hobby? FSUGRIZZ
Thanks....
I ask because I am a masters student in Meteorology but my interests are far less with forecasting and more along the lines of research.
GRIZZ
Purely a hobby, although in the Internet age, it’s amazing how much you can pick up by having access to much of the information that the pros see. Also, there are some terrific message boards frequented by professional mets who talk about their forecast reasoning, model interpretation, etc.
Indeed
It is amazing how simple meteorology seems in this current age. With models running every 3 to 6 hours we constantly have more information then ever before. Some of the best forecasters I’ve ever met could consistently out perform models based on knowledge of the area. I volunteered at a NWS and there were a couple of guys there who had so much local knowledge of the area that they could always see things well before there was even a sign that John Q public could even pick up on (or me at the time lol).
It is really rather amazing how much math and physics it requires to get the Met major. Not that I am complaining because I really rather enjoy math, physics and computer programming.
30 Minutes for the rest of our lives.....
If only it were really that easy.

Love it, Ed.
Glad it's going to be warm.
Any chillier would make playing in high altitude that much tougher. I know coaches and players downplay this, after all they are well-conditioned atheletes (Thank God we aren’t countin on Aubrey Phillips. He may not be able to get out of bed without needing oxygen) but I really worry about the depth on our defense and the altitude. It would be ideal to have a solid rotation of players in situations like this.

Granted BYU may be a better team but our boys should be in great shape….Florida heat is nothing to be played with and thats a great advantage of being in the south
