Tommy Tuberville was on ESPN First Take earlier today. For those of you who don't know, Tuberville was a DC before he was head coach at Auburn. He said that in order to better our chances at beating BYU we need to man up and not blitz. I'm assuming he meant play a cover 2 man or a cover 1 robber and hope Max Hall throws it at a wrong spot. This is a pretty stark contrast to what everyone's been saying about blitzing Max Hall. The problem with this strategy is I doubt we can generate a blitz using a 3 or four man rush like he recommended. I think our only chance at being able to do this is by inserting Kevin McNeil at the LE spot for the majority of plays. It seems that every time he has been in there our pass rush has been much better. That might not even matter though because Tuberville said BYU will run a max protect and get rid of the ball quickly so we might as well have as many defenders worrying about his targets as opposed to worrying about getting to Max Hall especially since his long ball isn't all that accurate and he has a tendency to turn the ball over to good teams.
