Musings from the cheap seats
The Seminoles today were almost handed the car keys. BYU knocked off the highly ranked Oklahoma Sooners. That means FSU will arrive in Utah for the third game of the season to play the giant killers. Yes I know Bradford was knocked out of the game. Well that is football every team needs depth. At this point I haven't received any sympapthy cards concerning the knees of Tavaris Presley or Justin Mincey.
All the Seminoles have to do is show a winning hand against the canes Monday night, beat Perriloux State and roll into Provo and beat BYU. From what I saw today that is highly doable. I honestly think Florida State has much more talent that BYU although they are a decent team. Their running back and receivers are not that impressive.
Today was a good day. Up until half time It looked like Virginia Tech had a shot at beating Alabama. The Virginia Tech defense is good enough to win most games. Their offensive coordinator reminds me of Jeff Bowden. Springstine or whatever his name is needs to go..
An Alabama loss coupled with the Georgia loss today would have blocked out some of the chin static from the insufferable talking heads and SEC boosters such as Brent Musberger. I would like to see it end early this season as it is extremely annoying.
Right now I am watching the best game of the day Washington vs LSU and Washington is giving them all they want. Sarkisian is a very impressive young head coach. I could tell right away they were probably going to give LSU all they want. He has sparked an offense that has lost 14 in a row and it looks great. It is going to be a circus type offense and it is very impressive. I also like his confidence and the way he relates to players. The problem with Wasjhington right now is their defense they don't have quite the talent they need there yet. They are not stopping LSU but moving the ball very very well.
A SEC loss in Washington coupled with the Georgia loss today and a fairly close loss by VT to Alabama would go a long way towards proving the gators are the SEC period and the rest of the league is not any better than most of the other top 25 teams. It is 24-13 but Washington is playing pretty well.
Of course all this means nothing if FSU does not beat the canes. This is a big game.

Thanks for the update
I live in China, and this is the first site I check every day for my sports news. I dont know if that is good or bad!! J/K
Again, Thanks.
I spent too much time watching CFB today!
I have to admit I was rooting for BYU and VT today, first to give us a chance to go up against a ranked team and second for ACC pride. The BYU game actually held my attention the most, I kept switching to it from the VT/Bama game. One thing I will say – BYU has a good tight end… maybe ominous for us? Max Hall looked servicable with not many mental errors.
VT gave up a ton of yardage but stayed in there till almost the end. For allowing nearly 500 yards, I couldn’t believe the score after 3 quarters. Their offense, didn’t look very throw happy and inept at times. Maybe we won’t have to knock out Tyrod to win this year? :) Yardage not withstanding, they still look to have a pretty darn stout defense.
The Washington/LSU game was pretty entertaining. I have to hand it to the Huskies, as bad as the were last year, they gave everything and scrapped to the last. LSU look winded, bad, in the 4th quarter – enough of that SEC invincibility. Washington’s quarterback was protected well most of the game and had several great passes and runs… too bad he was hurt last year. I was laughing out loud when after that :00 second touchdown and with the game over, the presenters were still wondering if Washington was gonna go for the 2 point conversion. Credit to them indeed.
Some interesting games yesterday.
BYU’s defense is better than I expected. They are very smart and aggressive. I wasn’t that impressed with Max Hall. Of course, he didn’t have much time to throw with that patchwork offensive line.
Alabama’s offense was impressive – rolling up almost 500 yards of offense. The score was a lot closer than it should have been. Alabama dominated that game.
Well ESPN and others are showing they are just hyping the SEC
Because though they hype the SEC so much when they play other conferences, they themselves talked as if there is no doubt Florida was going to win that conference and goes onto the national title game. If they truly believed the conference was as good as they say, then they would not be so confident Florida would go through their conference with so few losses that they play for the national title.
Mind if I join you?
I’m a BYU fan and alumnus. Great website, great football fans. Read the ’Nole Your Enemy articles on BYU – a fantastic effort but a bit of an underestimation in my opinion. However, I admit I was shocked with the OU result. Even more so because we were playing without Harvey Unga (star tailback – a rare thing at BYU) and Matt Bauman, only returning LB.
Good luck with Miami. Hope you are undefeated when you come to Provo.
BYU Looked Impressive
Thanks for gettin ’er done against OU!!! We thought all your studs would on Missionary trips!! Your “D” was serious!
