1) Defense looks tiny. This game really makes me fear teams like BC, VT.
2) Miami is obviously giving us the pass. The run on third and 2 in the 1Q was a disappointing call. In fact, at this point, ANY run is disappointing given the D they are playing. Ponder can throw all day.
3) Hopkins leg is unimpressive.
4) As is our special teams coverage (thanks once again, Jody).
5) Ponder looks incredibly sharp and we have lots of separation with our receivers.

I think we should stop with the delays for now and stick with just straight power plays. The delays/draws are allowing Miami to come too far up the field and they aren’t missing tackles right now and/or overpursuing.

what's really disturbing to me

Is that this doesn’t look like a matter of our defense playing bad — it looks like we simply don’t have the players to get it done.

Our linebackers look like safeties, our lineman look like linebackers.

I really fear that we’re going to put tremendous pressure on our offense this year with a terrible, terrible defense.

Having said that ...

Offense looks great. In fact, we have really underachieved on offense in this game.

They are selling out to stop the run — we have receivers roaming free on every pass play. Jimbo needs to suck it up and abandon the run until they respect the pass.
