So what next.
Well after a loss like that where do we look too, where are we going, what do we do next. Ive been pissed for about the last 20 hrs about MA and his Def. that I almost gave up on our Noles for the season. But why. Is it over. HELL NO. We have a good game next week and a game we all thought we could win the next 2 weeks. I know we all want MA head and CTC and JA fired but we also know that wont help or happen. We need to look past this and focus on some of the better Pos. What happened Last night that we liked. I have to say I loved the Offense look. I like the Screens, I like WR for the most part. I liked The TE use. But Most of all There is two things that give me some hope. FSU O-line Pass blocking and DB Greg Reid. Those two things are giving me some hope. Last night we say some things from FSU Def that we havent seen but all have wanted. We say some 3-4 and zone blitzing. It wasnt that bad but not ll that good. My guess here is because its just new. Im ok with that because if we keep with it I can get better, but only if we keep with it. If we trash it and go back to the old ways of 4-3 cover 2 then we are right back where we started last year. I dont want that myself because I want our Def to know something when a new DC comes in and we dont have to start from the basic. (thought we will anyhow) We also say FSU Qb throw to someone most though was a SPC OT ya Im talking about Caz. He cought the first TD for the 2009-10 Noles and I and the miami coaches couldnt beleave it. Good things for the Offense this year. The game sucked but it was what it was going to be. So what do you all think we should go to next. I dont want to hear the bad stuff use the other threads to bash people and coaches. I want to know what good came out from this game. I want toi know why I should watch the rest of the games. I want to know If Im not the only one that thinks its just one game a bad one but only one and we might be ok.

Well the good thing is....
We could end up meeting them again in the ACCCG.
It’s hard to guage, but it seems like miami is further along than we expected, and possibly further along than many other ACC teams (at least the games we saw this weekend).
A) Ponder “might” be the best QB in the ACC
2) Playing behind the best OL in the ACC
D) Offense was pretty sharp out of the gate….Not something we’ve been used to over the past 7 years, so they can only improve.
I thought the Pass Pro was great but the run blocking sucked.
Ponder is a good QB yes, I thought he was all a long. Give hime some time and he would shine. Also That fake pass QB draew looked great(also looks like a Tebow play)

The run blocking was questionable...
but there is no doubt that miami was intent on stopping the run game (especially ponder) after last year.
the run game
got chewed up when it was done on inside RB draws and sweeps from the shot gun. Looked better when the QB was under center. Need to go back and watch it to really see if that was the case. But, that will probably not happen.

Watch the rest of the games if only
to see Greg Reid rack up a ridiculous amount of return yards (hope he gets the return job on punts too).
Watch Jacobi McDaniel grow into one of the most dominant interior lineman in the country (not saying he will be this year but he will be getting the snaps that he needs to get there).
Watch to see our receiving corps improve even more and really take some long ones to the house.
Watch the oline come out and seriously destroy lesser talented teams than Miami.
Watch this weekend just because everyone will be pissed. Sorry you are next Jacks State.
Watch to see Ponder play his tale off and be a leader. There were a lot of people that doubted his improvement before this game, even me.
Watch to see if FSU can get some more INTS. Getting two on Jacory was outstanding. Again watch Greg Reid be an amazing ball hawk.
Watch to see if this offense can possibly be the best it has been since early 2000’s.
Watch to see more TD passes to tight ends (so awesome).
Watch for FSU to get back to the run and rack up some serious ground yards with physical line play.
There are plenty of reasons that I can think of that will keep me watching this season. I will be hopeful for a victory in every game. This team is totally worth watching. The improvement is there on offense and we will just have to wait for the defense to catch up. Just might have to do something really difficult this year. Look for the positives in what could be a horrible year in the W/L column. GO NOLES. and KEEP WATCHIN!

Great points. This is what Im after.
There are so many things we can change before ACC play again. We have Jack St, BYU and USF. All games we could win or lose. All dont matter in the ACC run witch is what Im after now. I never wanted a NC run this year just more wins and to take back the ACC. I hope we get another shot at Miami. might not go the same way again.

I would love to see a showdown with Miami for the ACC championship. I think that it is a realistic possibility. We’re not done by any means; we’re just more motivated now.
I agree with you; we can worry about the national championship next year. ;-)
My only concern with that
is this is a young offense, and if they consistantly see their efforts wasted by the D, they will lose heart and start just going through the motions, but still with good individual efforts here and there. Years ago I saw the D go though the same thing. Now it’s the offense’s turn.
I dont know if I can call this a young Offense.
All 5 o-line guys are back from last year. The RB played last year. 3WR are back from last year, one TE back from last year. Now yes they are mostly underclassman but they all were here last year. I think the Def is younger this year.

I can guarantee that Rick Trickett won't let his OL just go through the motions.
Lawrence, James, and Jimbo won’t either.
So maybe Dexter lets the RBs go through the motions, I dunno.
I am very excited about the future. I really don’t think this year will be a disaster…..and the rest of the ACC that I saw looked anything but world beaters. 10 wins is totally doable and we will get better. Oh how I wish we would start with someone other than the Canes though………but, the game could have went either way. Some D-line pressure and it’s a completely different ball game.
Here is why we have hope
At first I was simply crushed by the game. I went into panic mode and started to predict doom and gloom for our beloved Noles. So I decdied to turn to the positives. Here is why I feel like we have hope:
1) We were one play away from winning that game. That’s it. Think about it. One play. Even with our sub-par defense we almost pulled it out. If Fortson makes that last catch in the endzone we’d be celebrating a glorious win.
2) We finally have a real deal offense with talented players and coaches. Its been a good 8 or 9 years since we’ve had a offense that will keep DC’s up at night. The best part is they are only going to get better as the season progresses.
3) We have some bright spots in young players like McDaniel and Reid. Hopefully, they grow up quickly and contribute. We can only hope the defense learns from their mistakes and becomes serviceable.
4) I know it’s early but it looks like the ACC as a whole is watered down. Not to take anything away from GT or VT but it may very well be that FSU and Miami are the top 2 teams in the conference.

In sum, we have 2 choices:
A) Watch the games this season simply because we like football, with no expectations except embarrassment. But we do so with hope for the future, knowing that the weak part of the staff will likely be gone after this season, and in another couple years we’ll have a complete team (hey, it’s more hope than Georgia has right now); or
2) Do something productive with our lives, something we can actually control, like mowing the grass; or
d) For those of us without grass, none of the above.
Come on man
This wasn’t supposed to be the downer thread. HAHA. I think we should hold off on the only expectation should be embarrassment until after the BYU game. If the defense turns in the same performance in Provo (which I know, as I’m sure you do, is very possible) then there might be a chance the whole team gives up. I really hope that is not the case. Hopefully the offense will just keep doing what they do. Hope for the future maybe the best way to deal with it as you said. I still haven’t given up hope of at least winning the division this year. In two weeks though that could certainly change.

Sorry, not trying to bring anyone down.
It was supposed to be humurous.
Personally, though, after following the Noles since 1985, I am sick and tired of BB and MA making miami look better than they really are, even when miami is having down years.
I can't agree more.
If Miami get’s blown up by GTech on Thursday, just means FSU made them look outstanding in their opener and they are just pretenders…like FSU. Down, down, down. HAHA.
